† BACK TO TWO SERVICES  Today we are back to our regular two services.  Worship services are at 8:15 and 10:45 am with Sunday School and Adult Bible Class at 9:30 am.  Holy Communion will alternate between the two services starting with the 10:45 service today.

† SUNDAY SCHOOL RALLY DAY  Thanks to all those who helped with the Noah’s Ark Rally Day last Sunday.  The Sunday school students had a wonderful time enjoying the various water activities, especially the dunking booth and the large slip and slide!  We tried to make sure to send them home clean both inside and out!

† THE SHEPHERD’S OWN MEN’S ENSEMBLE will resume weekly practices  on Wednesday evenings from 5:30 – 6:30 pm beginning next week on September 16.

† JR CONFIRMATION instruction will start in September.  Jr. Confirmands and their parents are asked to attend an organizational meeting next Sunday, September 13, at 1:00 pm in the conference room.  Luther’s    Small Catechism with Explanation will be provided to each new Confirmand, but each student will need to bring their own Bible to class.

† GSLC FALL HOG ROAST AND MUSIC FESTIVAL has been scheduled for  Sunday, September 27, from 5:00 – 7:00 pm.  Please save the date on    your calendar.  There is a sign up sheet on the round table in the narthex of specific items that are needed.  Please stop and take a look at the list and see if you can help out.

† NEW PROJECT  Karen L. and Judy G. have started a new project on behalf of Good Shepherd.  They are sewing fabric hearts for Freeman NICU.  The heart is worn against the mother’s skin so that the fabric might absorb the scent of the mother.  The heart is then placed with the baby in the isolette so the mother is always with her child.  If anyone has flannel in baby prints or in plain pastel colors that they are willing to share, please give it to Karen or Judy.

† LYF REMINDER  Youth that will be attending the 2016 National Youth Gathering need to have their completed registration form and deposit turned in by today.

† TUESDAY MORNING BIBLE STUDY  Our Thursday Morning Bible Study has become Tuesday Morning Bible Study.  The group is now meeting every Tuesday morning from 9:30 – 10:30 am.

† STEPHEN MINISTRY TRAINING begins September 21 and will meet on Mondays from 6:00 – 8:30 pm for 50 hours of instruction.  You can still get involved in this marvelous opportunity.  Please see Earl K., Janet C., or Curt S.

† PRAYER BEARS are in the sanctuary pews and available to be signed out (notebook in narthex by nursery) and given to anyone that needs God’s love, comfort, and peace.

TODAY IS SUNDAY SCHOOL RALLY DAY There will be a kick-off event and special activities during Sunday School. The theme for Rally Day is Noah’s Ark so join us for some fun water games and food at the carnival which will happen right after the Sunday School hour, around 11:30 am. A big THANK YOU to everyone who provided cookies for this fun event!

LWML will meet this Tuesday at 6:30 pm, in the Fellowship Hall.

ASSISTIVE LISTENING If you are having a hard time hearing the service, assistive listening devices are available from the ushers. They work like a transistor radio and you can control the volume.

BLOOD PRESSURE CHECKS are available in the nurse’s office after the service. You will be given a small form that can be carried in your wallet which will include medical information and a log of your blood pressure readings.

SUNDAY SCHOOL RALLY DAY is happening next Sunday.  There will be a kick-off event and special activities during Sunday School.  Also, the children will be singing with the Shepherd’s Strings during the service.  The theme for Rally Day is Noah’s Ark so join us for some fun water games and food at the carnival which will happen right after the Sunday School hour, around 11:30 am.  The kids may want to have clothes for getting wet and a towel, as many of the activities involve fun with water!  You will also get the chance to get Noah wet in the dunk tank.  Adults may want to bring bag chairs for hanging around and watching the excitement.  Please join us for a fun start to our fall Sunday School session! 

COOKIE SIGN UP SHEET  Sunday School is asking the congregation to help with Noah’s Ark themed cookies for the Rally Day Carnival next Sunday.  There is a sign up sheet on the round table in the narthex.  Your help with this would be greatly appreciated!

MEAL DELIVERY  Thanks to everyone who helped deliver meals last week!  It is wonderful to have members of our congregation out helping others in our community!

† LYF SWIM NIGHT  Today at 5:30 pm, there will be a LYF swim night hosted by the G.s.  Hot dogs and drinks will be provided and the  youth should bring a side to share.  Parents are invited because we will have a short meeting to discuss another fundraising option, upcoming activities for the rest of the year, and registration deadlines for the 2016 National Youth Gathering.

† SUNDAY SCHOOL/CHRISTIAN EDUCATION MEETING  There will be a short meeting today, right after the Sunday School hour, to discuss plans for rally day, which will be held August 30, and class divisions for the fall quarter.  All those helping with our Christian Education or interested in helping are encouraged to attend.

† THURSDAY MORNING BIBLE STUDY   Starting this week, our Thursday Morning Bible Study will become Tuesday Morning Bible Study.  The group will now meet every Tuesday morning, starting with August 18, from 9:30 – 10:30 am.

† 60^TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY INVITATION  Many of us may remember Paul & Gladys D.  They will be celebrating their 60^th wedding anniversary with an open house today from 2-4 pm at Diamond Memorial Hall.

† AN INVITATION FROM PASTOR SCHUMACHER  At 2:00 pm today, the members of Grace Lutheran Church in Aurora will be having a special “Service of Thanksgiving and Praise.”  The occasion is to celebrate with  Pastor Schumacher the loving kindness and tender mercies our Lord has extended to him during his fifty years of ministry.
