† IN OUR PRAYERS Linda D., recovering at home; Ruth H., undergoing rehab at Mt. Vernon Care Place; Doretta F., Karen L., recovering from surgery; Paula B., undergoing treatment for cancer.

† BAPTISM  We rejoice with Damon and Lauren F. at the baptism of their daughter, Makenna Nicole F., this morning during the late service.  Makenna was born June 22, 2014.  Her sponsors are her aunt, Katie C., and her uncle, Adam S.  We ask God’s blessings on Makenna and her family.

† NEW MEMBERS  We receive and welcome today as new members, Donya A., Matt H. and Jason O., through Adult Confirmation.  We are glad to have you as part of our congregation!

† THE FUMBLY, BUMBLY ANGELS  Our Sunday School Christmas Program will be held this evening at 7:00 pm.  Along with a rehearsal    during Sunday School today, there will be a rehearsal after the late service.  Come and enjoy hearing about the good news of our saviors’ birth being shared by our children!

† SPECIAL SERVICES THIS WEEK

7:00 pm Wed. Christmas Eve candlelight service with Holy Communion.

10:45 am Thurs. Christmas Day Worship Service with Holy Communion.

† CHRISTMAS CAROLING  Lutheran Youth Fellowship will be hosting a congregational Christmas caroling evening tomorrow, Dec. 22,  at 5:00 pm.  There will be hot chocolate and cookies for everyone to share.  Come and join in warming the hearts of others this season!

† MIDWEEK CLASSES & ACTIVITIES will resume on Wednesday, January 7, 2015.

† THURSDAY MORNING BIBLE CLASS will not meet this Thursday, Dec. 25, or next Thursday, Jan. 1.  Class will resume on Thursday, Jan. 8.

† OFFERING ENVELOPES  The 2015 offering envelopes are on the table in the narthex.  Please remember to discard your 2014 envelopes and use only the 2015 envelopes beginning in January.  If you do not see your name and want envelopes, please contact the church office.  Likewise, if you prefer not to use them and see your name, simply write NO on the    label.

† INVITATION POSTCARDS  Due to a special donation, a special  postcard will be mailed to many people in the area around the church     inviting them to our Christmas Eve and Christmas Day services.  If you see someone you don’t recognize, welcome them warmly; they may be one of our neighbors.  There are extra postcards on the table that you are welcome to take and give to anyone you would like to personally invite.

† POINSETTIAS  If you would like to purchase a poinsettia(s) to help adorn the sanctuary at Christmas (as in the past, it’s yours to take home after Christmas), please use the sign-up sheet on the table in the narthex.  The cost is $8.00 each.  See Diana E. about payment, and if you have any questions.

† PORTALS OF PRAYER  The new Portals of Prayer for the winter are on the table by the nursery in the narthex.

† ADVENT  We are in the Advent season of the church year, the time before Christmas when we prepare ourselves for the celebration of the birth of our Savior.  Plan to attend the Mid-week Advent service on Wednesday, Dec. 17, at 11:00 am or 7:00 pm.

† COMFORT IN SORROW  This Thursday, Dec. 18, at 6:30 pm, Pastor and Earl invite those who are dealing with the loss of a loved one to join them for a special evening that will include devotion and prayer, learning about the phases of grief, and comfort from God’s Word.  It will be a time of getting together to encourage one another and build each other up!  If you feel you could benefit  from this, please join us!

† EVERGREEN LUTHERAN SCHOOL (LCMS) is situated in the midst of a low income, high crime area of Detroit, MI.  The lives of the children who attend Evergreen are often touched by bullying, intimidation, and gang violence. Evergreen Lutheran School provides Christian Education in a safe and caring environment.  GSLC Sunday School offerings are now going to support this unique inner city ministry.

† WOMEN’S CHRISTMAS DINNER  All Good Shepherd women are invited to a Christmas party this evening, at 5 pm, at Rollins Creek Clubhouse (east end of Fairview).  Dinner will be served and entertainment provided by the CHS show choir!  We will reveal our Secret Sisters with a gift and anyone can play the ornament exchange game if you bring a wrapped ornament!  Please RSVP on the narthex table so we can plan seating and food.  Questions: Contact Jennifer S.

† ADVENT  We are in the Advent season of the church year, the time before Christmas when we prepare ourselves for the celebration of the birth of our Savior.  Plan to attend the Mid-week Advent services on Wednesday, Dec. 10 and Dec. 17, at 11:00 am and 7:00 pm.

† ADVENT SCHEDULE  During Advent, the Wednesday evening classes will have earlier times to allow for Advent Services at 7:00 pm.  Band practice will remain at 5:30 pm; Midweek, Jr Confirmation, Bible Study and Men’s Ensemble practice will all begin at 6:00 pm during Advent.

† LUTHERAN YOUTH FELLOWSHIP will meet this evening here at the church at 6:00to plan for this month’s events.

† THE ELDERS will meet this evening at 7:30 pm instead of Monday.

† OVER-50 GOOD SHEPHERDS will meet this Thursday at 6:00 pm.

† ADVENT  Today begins the Advent season of the church year, the time before Christmas when we prepare ourselves for the celebration of the birth of our Savior.  Plan to attend the Mid-week Advent services, which begin this Wednesday, Dec. 3, at 11:00 am and 7:00 pm.

† PASTOR’S CLASS  If you are interested in learning more about the Lutheran Church and it’s teachings, are interested in joining the congregation, or would like a refresher course in church doctrine, Pastor is having an informational class this afternoon from 1:00-6:00 pm.  The class is informal and you are encouraged to bring along your questions.  Everyone is invited and welcome.  Please let Pastor know if you are planning to attend.

† LWML will meet this Tuesday evening at 6:30 in the Fellowship Hall.

† BRASS ENSEMBLE  Attention all brass instrumentalists:  Please let John Nicholas or Linda Danner know if you are interested and available to play in a brass ensemble for the upcoming Advent and Christmas season services.  We are especially in need of low brass instruments.
