REMEMBER IN PRAYER: Heather U., Tom & Linda D.’s daughter, recovering from breast cancer surgery;  Rich & Lynn H., at the death of his brother; Tommy F., Ruth B.’s son in law, seriously ill;  Marty J., with cancer; Ann L. and Chuck P., undergoing treatment.

THE CHURCH COUNCIL will meet this evening at 7:00 to discuss  the agenda for the Voters’ Meeting set for October 25th at 7:00 pm.

LABORERS LEAVING SOON It is hard to believe, but next Sunday will be the last Sunday the Laborers for Christ will be here.  Their work is almost completed, and they are getting anxious to get back home after being away so long.  They are more then workers.  They are wonderful friends.  Be sure and express your gratitude to them when you get the chance.

THE ELDERS AND TRUSTEES will meet in a joint meeting Monday evening at 7:00.

MAPLE LEAF GOSPEL SING This Wednesday evening the Shepherd’s Own will be participating in the Gospel Sing, 7:00 pm, at the Carthage Jr. High Auditorium, 714 South Main.  Come out, enjoy one of the most popular events of the Festival, and show support to our guys who represent our congregation so well.

NATIONAL YOUTH GROUP GATHERING Youth who are attending the National Youth Group Gathering in 2010 must give their registration form to Cheryl M. by next Sunday, October 18th.   Meetings will be held today after each service, and this Wednesday at 6:30, about volunteer opportunities and fundraisers.  Parents, you need to attend at least one of these meetings.  Please see Cheryl for further information.

WEDDING On Saturday, October 17th, at 2:00 pm at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Grove, OK, Amber S. will exchange marriage vows with Brett H.  Amber is the daughter of Kathy M. and the granddaughter of Bud & Ruby S.  We pray for the Lord’s Blessings as they begin their lives as husband and wife.  Pastor Schnackenberg will be the officiate.

PASTOR & GERRY ON VACATION Pastor and Gerry will be in Phoenix next week for the Men’s Senior Baseball League World Series.  Pastor is again playing for a team from Minnesota called the Twins.  You can follow the progress of the team on MSBLNational.com.  The Schnackenberg’s will be back sometime the week of the 25th.

GUEST PASTORS The Rev. Dr. David Johns will be our guest Pastor Sunday the 18th  and The Rev. Lowell Rossow the 25th.

DEDICATION SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 1st The Service of Dedication for our expanded facilities will be Sunday, November 1st, at 10:45 am.  That will be the only service that morning.  We will have a congregational dinner at noon, and a Service of Praise and Thanksgiving at 2:30 pm.  The Rev. Brad Zerkel, a former member of our congregation, and Pastor of Our Redeemer Lutheran, Kansas City, will be our guest speaker for this service.  Refreshments will be served after the afternoon service.

LWML SUNDAY  Today is Lutheran Women’s Missionary League Sunday.  Members of our local society will be reading the First & Second Lessons during both services and all LWML members will be wearing a purple and gold ribbon.  The Good Shepherd LWML meet the first Wednesday of each month at 6:30 in the fellowship hall.  We invite all ladies of the congregation to join us.

MITE BOX OFFERINGS  One of the main emphasis of the LWML is their support of missions and ministry throughout the world by means of Mite Box offerings.  You can help with this special ministry today by placing your pocket change in the large Mite Box at the back of the church.  You are welcome to take a individual box home with you, and as you drop your change into the box, say a prayer for world missions that each mite will help spread the Gospel throughout the world.  When it’s full, simply deposit your offerings in the large Mite Box, which is then counted and sent on to the District and National levels of LWML for disbursement.

LABORERS MIKE AND THELMA M. will be leaving this week to return to their home.  Thelma is home from the hospital and they are anxious to see their new grandbaby.  Please express your gratitude to them.  They go with our prayers for God’s good things to be with them.  Dear Mike and Thelma, thank you very much and God bless you.

SOFTBALL GAMES  The Co-Ed team will play Monday evening at 6:30 and the Men’s team will play Tuesday at 6:30 pm.

BREAK TIME HELP FOR LABORERS NEEDED  We are still in need of folks to help at the trailer setting out snacks for the workers the week of October 13th –17th.  Their break time is 9:00 to 9:30 am, and it only takes a little more than an hour of your time each day.  If you are able to help, please visit with Mary Parks, or call the church office, 358-1325.

THURSDAY AM BIBLE STUDY will resume its schedule this Thursday.  Please join us as we continue to study Paul’s letter to the Romans.  We gather at approximately 9:00 am for fellowship and begin our study at 9:30 am. 

MEN’S RETREAT  October 9th & 11th  are the dates planned for a Men’s Retreat at Pelican Landing in Oklahoma.  The cost is $15.00, plus the cost of the food.  There is a sign up sheet at the back of the sanctuary, and if you have any questions, contact Sonny E.

PASTOR TO SPEAK AT PURDY Pastor is the guest speaker today at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Purdy, for their 125th anniversary as a congregation.  He is speaking at the 10:30 a.m. service and Dr. Wallace Schulz, former Lutheran Hour Speaker and Vice-president of Synod, will speak at the 2:00 p.m. service.  A dinner will be served at noon and a light lunch will follow the afternoon service.  You are invited to celebrate with them.

THE REV. DR. DAVID JOHNS is our guest speaker today while Pastor and Gerry are at Purdy.  Pastor Johns is retired and living in Joplin.  We are glad to have him back again. Thank you, Dr. Johns!

WOMEN’S BIBLE STUDY How can studying the life of David help us in our lives today?  Find out in the ladies bible study entitled, Anointed, Transformed, Redeemed.  This class is meeting for seven weeks with prayer, fellowship, and a DVD session covering the life and reign of David.  Not only will are we getting a deeper understanding of this great man and his relationship with the Lord, but we are also gaining a deeper relationship with God and each other.  Sign up in the narthex—cost is $15.00 for the workbooks.  We meet at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday nights here at the church.  Call Lora S.  for more information.

LWML FALL RALLY/ST. JOHN’S, PURDY The theme for the Fall Rally Saturday, Oct 3rd, is “Our Lutheran Heritage”. The speaker is The Rev. James Fandrey, Executive Director of the Lutheran Heritage Foundation. Everyone is asked to bring a food item for Crosslines in Monett. Registration begins at 9:30 am. We will car pool, leaving the church at 8:30 am. Contact Mary P., 358-1325, to let her know if you plan to attend.

BLOOD PRESSURE After each service, at the table in the narthex, you have the opportunity to have your blood pressure taken.  You will be given a card to carry with you to record your readings.
