NEW BIBLE STUDY

Marriage by God’s Design is a new Bible Study being offered in the Conference Room on Sunday morning at 9:30. With the use of videos, group discussion and timely topics it looks at marriage as God designed in the Bible. You are most welcome to join this new group study.

MARGARET E. JOHNS, age 86, was received into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, January 2, 2012, at St. Luke’s Nursing Center, Carthage. She is survived by her husband Rev. Dr. David Johns, daughter Susan Johns-Smith and son-in-law Robert Smith of Pittsburg, KS. Margaret received her Bachelor of Science in Education from Concordia University in River Forest in 1947. Funeral services will be held at Good Shepherd on Monday at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Webb City. Visitation is this afternoon at Parker Mortuary, Joplin, from 3:00 to 4:00 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lutheran Hour or to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.

THE LWML will meet this Tuesday, Jan. 8, at 7:00 pm. For the remainder of the year all meetings will be the first Tuesday of each month at 7:00 pm, unless otherwise announced. All ladies of the congregation are encouraged to be a part of this church mission group.

MARK YOUR CALENDAR 70 & Over Dinner, Sunday, January 27, is the date set for the Youth Group sponsored dinner. It’s food and entertainment for the folks and their spouses in our congregation who are 70 years old and older. Be watching for your personal invitation to this special event.

FLOWER CHART If you would like to place flowers at the altar for a special occasion or in memory of someone, please sign the flower chart hanging on the wall next to the water fountain in the hallway. Simply write your name, phone number, and occasion with the pen provided.

BLOOD PRESSURE CHECKS are available in the narthex after each service. You will be given a small form that can be carried in your wallet which will include medical information and a log of your blood pressure readings.

CD’S AND TAPES OF THE SERVICE Audio tapes and CD’s of the service are available after the service each Sunday. They are located in the glassed-door cabinet in the narthex.

ASSISTIVE LISTENING If you are having a hard time hearing the service, assistive listening devices are available from the ushers. They work like a transistor radio and you can control the volume.
