Announcements — July 14, 2019

† IN OUR PRAYERS  Stephen L., recovering from shoulder surgery; Bernice R., recovering at home after a fall; Katherine R., recovering from surgery for a broken hip; Sue V., at St. Luke’s  receiving rehab after a broken hip; Jack H., at St. Luke’s dealing with multiple health issues;  Kathy P., suffering health issues; Stephen Ministry and their care receivers.

† THE WOMEN’S FELLOWSHIP GROUP will meet this Saturday, July 20, at Mother Road Coffee from 9:00 am – 10:00 am.

† VBS KICK-OFF PARTY will be held on Saturday, July 20, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church at 5:00 pm.  This year it will be a potluck dinner and fun    activities (you might get wet).  The meat will be provided and everyone is asked to bring a dish to share.  There will be several fun activities for the kids and the young at heart to participate in, so come prepared to have     a great time and enjoy watching the kids have fun!  We hope to have     everyone come out to enjoy this fun fellowship event to start out a great week of learning and activities for our children!

† VBS DONATIONS  Thanks to everyone who took post-it notes from the board and purchased items for VBS.  Most items were due back today.      If you have not brought your items yet, please do so early this week if  possible.  Fresh fruit can be brought July 21.

† VBS REGISTRATION  If you haven’t already registered for VBS please   take the time to do so.  There is a table set up in the narthex under the  education bulletin board with registration forms.  Or, you can also register for Vacation Bible School online, you can do that at: http://vbsmate.com/events/gslccarthage/17744.

† SUNDAY SCHOOL NURSERY  The Christian Education Committee is     offering a nursery option for parents wanting to attend Bible Class.       Regular Sunday School classes begin at age 3 and there are teachers for those classes.  For children under 3 years old we are offering a place for supervised play, snack, and a very short simple age appropriate Jesus  message.  All materials and snacks will be provided in the nursery        classroom.  There is a sign up sheet located by the door of the nursery room for people wanting to help out in this classroom.  You can also call the church office, 358-1325, if you are willing to sign up.

† LWML QUARTERLIES  The new quarterlies for the summer are on the  table by the nursery in the narthex.

† PORTALS OF PRAYER  The new Portals of Prayer for the summer are on the table by the nursery in the narthex.

† NURSERY/CRY ROOM  Should your child become distressed or distract others during the service, a furnished nursery/cry room is located in the narthex for your use.  Please ask one of the ushers if you need directions.

† PRAYER BEARS are in the sanctuary pews and available to be signed out (notebook in narthex by nursery) and given to anyone that needs God’s love, comfort, and peace.

† BLOOD PRESSURE CHECKS are available in the nurse’s office after the  service.  You will be given a small form that can be carried in your wallet which will include medical information and a log of your blood pressure readings.

† THANK YOU  It is wonderful to have Pastor Schnackenberg here today to handle our service and Adult Bible Class while Pastor Mehl is on vacation.  Thank you for being here today!

† YOUTH GROUP SUMMER BBQ  All students going into 9th-12th grade and their families are invited to a summer BBQ at Libby S.’s house today after Sunday School.  Families are encouraged to bring a side dish or dessert to share. Feel free to drop in.

† BIG THANK YOU to Doug Dahlman who spent several days this week    stripping and waxing the floor in the Sunday School area.  We really       appreciate it!

† FELLOWSHIP HALL FLOORS  Right after Bible class today the Fellowship Hall will be prepared to have the floors stripped and waxed.  The Trustees ask that no one enter the downstairs this week so that the floors can dry properly.
