† IN OUR PRAYERS  Barbara S., recovering from hip replacement  surgery; Allie P., recovering after a fall; Katherine R., recovering from surgery for a broken hip; Sue V., at St. Luke’s receiving  rehab after a broken hip; Jack H., at St. Luke’s dealing with multiple health issues; Kathy P., suffering health issues; Stephen Ministry and their care receivers.

† THURSDAY MORNING BIBLE STUDY  The Thursday morning Bible Study and Fellowship group has just started a new topic, the book of Matthew.  If you are free on Thursday mornings at 10:00 am, please come and join the group.  Now would be the perfect time to start!

† MEAL DELIVERY  Good Shepherd’s week to deliver meals for the Over-60 Center is the week of October 7-11.  If you can help with this worthwhile project, please contact Betty E.

† THE ANNUAL MEN’S FISHING/CAMPOUT will be held this Friday,          October 4th at Dale’s Fish’n Hole.  There are maps and a sign-up sheet in the narthex.

† SUNDAY SCHOOL/ADULT BIBLE CLASS OFFERING  The GSLC Christian    Education Committee would like our Fall Quarter offerings to go to help a   missionary family.  Tim and Hope Mehl, who are missionaries in Taiwan, will be helping to get us connected with a missionary family in need of funds for this year.

† LUTHERAN STUDY BIBLES  The Christian Ed Committee has heard some     interest from a few of our Sunday School teachers and others interested in purchasing Lutheran Study Bibles.  To help with the cost of the shipping and get a small discount, GSLC has ordered some Lutheran Study Bibles that we will be offering to the congregation for purchase.  The cost of these Bibles will be $40.00.  If you are interested in purchasing a Bible, please contact the church office, 358-1325.

† LWML QUARTERLIES  The LWML Fall Quarterlies are on the table by the nursery in the narthex.

† PORTALS OF PRAYER  The new Portals of Prayer for the Fall are on the table by the nursery in the narthex.

† NURSERY/CRY ROOM  Should your child become distressed or distract others during the service, a furnished nursery/cry room is located in the narthex for your use.  Please ask one of the ushers if you need directions.

† PRAYER BEARS are in the sanctuary pews and available to be signed out (notebook in narthex by nursery) and given to anyone that needs God’s love, comfort, and peace.

† BLOOD PRESSURE CHECKS are available in the nurse’s office after the  service.  You will be given a small form that can be carried in your wallet which will include medical information and a log of your blood pressure readings.

† ASSISTIVE LISTENING  If you are having a hard time hearing the service, assistive listening devices are available from the ushers.  They work like a transistor radio and you can control the volume.

† THE OVER 70’S DINNER is tonight from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm!  The menu will include fall comfort foods with your choice of ham or turkey, dinner rolls, salad, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes, and creamy corn.  Dessert is pie a la mode, yum!  Hope to see you there!

† VOTERS’ MEETING  There will be a very short Voters’ Meeting right after the service today to address the heating/air conditioning repairs the church has been needing.  We hope to wrap it up in plenty of time to get everyone to Bible Class and Sunday School on time.

† SAVE THE DATE  The Over 70’s Dinner is set for Sunday, September 22, from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm!  The menu will include fall comfort foods with your choice of ham or turkey, dinner rolls, salad, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes, and creamy corn.  Dessert is pie a la mode, yum!  RSVP to Libby S. † SHEPHERD’S OWN  After a summer break, the Shepherd’s Own men’s choir has resumed meeting on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 pm in the rear of the sanctuary.  If you have time to commit to a regular schedule of        rehearsals and performances, a good ear for acapella harmony, and enjoy singing praises to the Lord, you are most welcome to join this group. Please speak with John Nicholas or any other Shepherd’s Own member if you are interested or need additional information.

† SUMMER QUARTER OFFERINGS  The offerings from Adult Bible class/Sunday School and VBS for the summer quarter are going to the Jasper County branch of CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates).  This is a joint community support effort with Immanuel Lutheran Church in Joplin.  Thanks to all the generous giving over the summer, GSLC will be able to    donate a total of $965.00.  That is AWESOME!
