FELLOWSHIP COOKOUT AND SUMMER SUNDAY SCHOOL KICK-OFF  Today the Sunday School kicks off their summer program with some special events during the Sunday School hour and at the cook out.  At noon is our fellowship cookout for everyone.  The grill will be sizzling with hamburgers, hot dogs and bratwursts.  Be sure and join us for this fun and fellowship meal.   

PICTORIAL DIRECTORY SIGN UP  Rick will be taking pictures in the Conference Room from 1:00-6:00 pm. today.  New sign up dates have been set for Tuesday, June 15th, from 6-9 pm., Wednesday, June 16th, from 6-9 pm., and Sunday, June 27th, from noon to 6 pm.  If you have not signed up or have not yet had your picture taken, please plan to do so.  We really would like to have everyone included in the directory and your cooperation is greatly appreciated.  The sign up sheets are in the narthex next to the nurse’s office.

CONGRATULATIONS to Lauren S. and Damon F. who were married here yesterday.  Lauren is the daughter of Curt & Holly S.  We ask God’s blessings on this young couple as they begin their life together as husband and wife.  

PRAYER BEARS are in the sanctuary pews and available to be signed out and given to anyone that needs God’s love, comfort, and peace.  Each bear is numbered on the back of the tag.  That is the number to record in the notebook in the narthex, along with your name, the name of the recipient, and reason.  The recipient may keep the bear as long as needed, or may return it to the pews to be given to someone else needing extra love from God and extra prayers from us.

MONEY MATTERS  Parents and children ages 6 to 10 are invited to a free educational workshop called Parents, Kids and Money Matters Sunday, June 27th, during the Sunday School hour.  The workshop is designed for parents and their children to help kids learn about money and values.  The Workshop is presented by Austin Rice, Thrivent Financial for Lutherans representative, and members of the congregation.  The workshop is free and no financial products will be sold.  For more information contact Austin Rice at 888-243-8225.

SOFTBALL  The co-ed team will play this Monday evening at 8:30.  The men’s team will play this Tuesday evening at 6:30.

KID KITS  In the narthex are a number of bags containing crayons, coloring books, picture books and other items of interest for young children.  You are welcome to use them for your little ones.  Please return the “kid kit” after the service.

BLOOD PRESSURE  The opportunity to have your blood pressure taken and recorded after each service is available in the nurse’s office located off the narthex.  You will be given a card to carry with you to record your readings.

TAPES & CDS OF THE SERVICE  Audio tapes and CDs of the service are available after the 8:15 am service each Sunday.  They are located in the glassed-door cabinet in the narthex.  The previous Sunday’s are also available.

ASSISTIVE LISTENING  If you are having a hard time hearing the service, assistive listening devices are available from the ushers.  They work like a transistor radio and you control the volume.

ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION You are invited to join Kes & Betty K. as they celebrate their 58 years of marriage today.  After a renewal of their wedding vows in the church sanctuary, you are invited to an open house reception in the Fellowship Hall from 2:30-4:30 pm., hosted by their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  No gifts, please.

OVER 50 GAME NIGHT Come join the over 50 gang for game night Thursday evening starting at 6:00.  Bring something to eat and join in the fun.
LWML CONVENTION The LWML MO District Convention is this weekend, June 11-13, in Springfield.  The theme of the convention is Beautiful Feet Led by God.  Lenora L. and Corinne W. are our delegates.  All the ladies of the congregation are welcome to go.  For more information contact Corinne W.

JR CONFIRMATION TODAY  Seven young folks will be confessing their faith publicly through the Rite of Confirmation during the late service today.  They are:

MEMORIAL DAY  On this Memorial Day weekend, we remember with gratitude those men and women that have given the ultimate sacrifice for our country so that we can enjoy the freedoms we have today.

CONGRATULATIONS to Gretchen N. and Todd B. who were united in marriage yesterday here at Good Shepherd.  Gretchen is the daughter of John & Rhonda N.  We pray for continued blessings for Gretchen & Todd as they begin their life as husband and wife.

SOFTBALL  The co-ed team’s next game will be Monday evening, June 7th at 6:30.  (No game this Monday, Memorial Day.)  The men’s team will play this Tuesday evening, June 1st, at 7:30.

CHURCH STEEPLE  Next Wednesday morning at 7:00, the professionals from American Steeples will be here to put up the church steeple.  Help will not be needed, but you’re more than welcome to come watch the process.  To God be the Glory!

REMEMBER IN PRAYER  Fern H. and Karen P., recovering from surgery; Jeanann G., Ann L., & Chuck P., undergoing treatment.

STAINED GLASS WINDOW MISHAP  Regrettably, when the stained glass window was here and ready to be installed, it was discovered that it had a crack.  So back to the shop it had to go.  They will have to take apart certain areas of the window and replace the glass that was cracked, which was the etched piece.  Completion time of the repair is not known.

SOFTBALL  The co-ed team will play Monday evening at 8:30.  The men’s team will have a week off due to the Carthage High School graduation on Tuesday evening.

PLANNING FOR THE FUTURE  This afternoon The Rev. Dr. Stuart Brassie, from the MO-District Office of the LCMS, will lead us in a planning session beginning at 1:30 pm.  Dr. Brassie will help us focus on what direction we want to go, now that the expansion program is almost over, and how we will do it.  The planning session is open to everyone, and together, with our Lord’s guidance, we can look to a future that is focused and God-directed.

JR CONFIRMATION EXAM  The confirmands will have their last class this Wednesday evening at 6:30 with a review of this year’s lessons.  You are welcome to attend.  After the review, the class will be fitted for their confirmation robes.   

WEDDING  You are invited to share in the joy with Gretchen  N. and Todd B. as they exchange their marriage vows this Saturday, May 29th, at 4:00 pm.  Gretchen is the daughter of John & Rhonda N.

JR CONFIRMATION SUNDAY is May 30th, at which time seven of our young folks will make public confession of their faith through the Rite of Confirmation during the late service. 

THE ELDERS will meet this  Monday evening at 7:00.
