NEW SUNDAY BIBLE STUDY  The Sunday morning Bible class has started a new study on the Gospel of Matthew lead by Pastor.  If you have been wanting to start coming to the Bible class, now is a good time to start.  The class meets downstairs in the Fellowship Hall at 9:30 with coffee and goodies to eat.  We hope you will join us.

THE OVER-50 GOOD SHEPHERDS will meet this Thursday evening at 6:00 for food, fellowship, fun, and games.

SMOKED PORK BY CAVEMAN CUISINE  We all know how good their smoked pork is!  Well, here’s your chance to order a full smoked pork butt.  Caveman Cuisine is taking orders to help raise money for the LWML’s Women’s Retreat in Sept.  There is a sign up sheet in the narthex, and orders will be taken until Aug. 22.  You will be able to pick up your order on Sept. 1.  The cost is $25.00 each, which is 4-5 lbs of meat.  UMM…UMM…GOOD!  Thanks, Chad & Nicole.

MUSIC MINISTRY PLANNING MEETING, NEXT SUNDAY, 6:30 PM  Please read the insert in this morning’s bulletin for a detailed explanation of what this meeting is all about and how it could impact our worship services, all in a very positive way.

LWML BAKE SALE  Next Sunday is your chance to purchase some delicious goodies to take home and enjoy.  The LWML is sponsoring a bake sale to help with expenses for the fall retreat.  As always, your contributions and help are very much appreciated.  Thank you.  

RECIPE FOR LIFE—WOMEN’S RETREAT, SEPT. 24-26  There is still time to reserve a spot for the retreat.  We do need to call in the room reservations and pay the deposit by Aug. 15.  If you have signed up and have not yet paid your $20.00 deposit, please get it to Mary in the church office before the 15th.  Thanks.  Scholarship monies are available, and if you would like to apply, please contact the church office.

PRAYER BEARS are in the sanctuary pews and available to be signed out and given to anyone that needs God’s love, comfort, and peace. 

TAPES AND CD’S OF THE SERVICE  Audio tapes and CDs of the service are available after the 8:15 am service each Sunday.  They are located in the glassed-door cabinet in the narthex.  The previous Sunday’s are also available.

BLOOD PRESSURE  The opportunity to have your blood pressure taken and recorded after each service is available in the nurse’s office located off the narthex.  You will be given a card to carry with you to record your readings.

ASSISTIVE LISTENING  If you are having a hard time hearing the service, assistive listening devices are available from the ushers.  They work like a transistor radio and you control the volume.

GUEST SPEAKER  The Rev. Dr. John Herzog is our guest speaker today.  He is the Chief Administrator for the Lutheran High School Association of Greater Detroit, but more importantly, the son of Marie H.  Marie’s family is here to help her get her home ready for sale.  She is moving to St. Louis to be with her daughter, Martha.  Thank you, Pastor Herzog, for sharing your message with us today.

NURSERY VOLUNTEERS NEEDED  We are in need of volunteers to help in the nursery during the late service while Walli is in New Jersey taking care of her dad.  Please pick a Sunday and write your name on the sign up sheet in the narthex.  Thank you for your willingness to help.

RECIPE FOR LIFE—WOMEN’S RETREAT, SEPT. 24-26  We need to know by the end of this month if you would like to attend the women’s retreat at Eureka Springs, AR.  The cost will be around $100.00, which includes a two night stay, two full breakfasts, trolley tickets, plus your ticket to the Passion Play.  We will need a $20.00 deposit from everyone wanting to attend to reserve the rooms.  Scholarships will be available.  The sign up sheet is in the narthex.  Any questions, please contact Lora S.

BAKE SALE TODAY  The LWML is offering some scrumptious goodies for sale today after both services.  The proceeds will help fund some of the expenses and assist with scholarship money for the upcoming Women’s Retreat in Eureka Springs, September 24-26.  Your help with this project is greatly appreciated.  Thank you!

VBS HIGH SEAS EXPEDITION—A WHALE OF A SUCCESS  Our thanks to EVERYONE who helped with VBS this past week.  It was a good one!  You will get to see some of the highlights of the week today during the service.

CONGRATULATIONS!  We are very pleased to announce the birth of a baby girl, Lucy Malynn, to Zachary & Savannah J.  Lucy was born Saturday evening, July 10.  She weighed 5 lbs, 12 oz, and was 19 3/4 inches long.  Mike & Marla S. are the maternal grandparents and Linda S. is the maternal great-grandmother.  May God bless this family and keep them in His loving care. 

PICTURES FOR DIRECTORY  Pictures for the directory will be taken between the services today. Just go to the Conference Room off the narthex and say, “I’m here for my picture.”  It won’t hurt a bit.

PASTOR’S CLASS  Pastor is having an information class this afternoon for anyone who is interested in joining Good Shepherd, just wants to know more about the Lutheran church, or would like to refresh their own understanding of things Lutheran.  The class will start at 1:00 pm and go all afternoon.  If you are interested in attending, please let Pastor know.

THE ELDERS’ MEETING will meet this Thursday, July 22, at 7:00 pm.

NATIONAL YOUTH GATHERING  Eight of our youth members are attending the National Youth Gathering in New Orleans this week and will be home sometime this Friday.  May God bless their travel and time at the Gathering.

EXPERIENCE NATIONAL GATHERING  Do you want to experience a part of the youth’s trip?  You can!  The Mass Events and worship services will be streamed live during the Gathering.  You will be able to find the live stream on www.lcms.org.  The Mass Events are on July 17-20 at 8:00 pm. nightly and on July 21 at 9:00 am.
