REMEMBER IN PRAYER Don H., at home undergoing treatment for cancer; Tricia O., at McCune Brooks Hospital; Ronda S., at Carthage Rehab.

A SPECIAL PRESENTATION will be given during the Bible Class hour by Mr. Trent Davis, Director of Disaster Response, Immanuel, Joplin.  Transform Joplin is a presentation on the continued efforts to help with tornado relief and the ongoing rebuilding plans for the city of Joplin.

THE CHURCH COUNCIL will meet this evening at 7:00 pm.  The agenda for the voters’ meeting, Oct. 23, will be decided, which will include election of officers and the budget for 2012.

SOFTBALL The church co-ed team will play their last game of the fall league on Monday at 8:30.  The men’s league completed their season last week.

THE OVER-50 GOOD SHEPHERDS will meet this Thursday evening at 6:00.  Bring some food to share and join in an evening of fun, food, and fellowship.

PASTORAL CONFERENCE Pastor will be attending the Missouri District Professional Church Workers Conference at Tan-tar-a, at the Lake of the Ozarks, Tuesday through Thursday of this week.  There will be no Jr. Confirmation class or Thursday morning Bible class this week.

GSLC’S OWN, THE SHEPHERD’S OWN, will be singing at the Maple Leaf Festival Gospel Sing on Wednesday.  The Gospel Sing is one of the major events of the Maple Leaf Festival.  The event begins at 7:00 pm at the Carthage R-9 Auditorium.

MEN’S CAMPING RETREAT If you are looking for a fun weekend of camping and fishing, then please join us for a men’s camping trip the weekend of Oct. 14-16.  We’ll be going to Dale & LeeAnn B.’ property located just south of Lockwood.  There is a large stocked pond for a day of fishing from the bank.  Campers are welcome, but there is no electric hookup.  Contact Dale, or Paul R., with any questions.  There is a sign up sheet in the narthex.  Hope to see you there.

ALL GOD’S PEOPLE SING The hymn book All God’s People Sing has been returned to the pews.  They weren’t used after we purchased the new pews because the hymn racks were not large enough to hold both hymn books.  In order to utilize the additional hymns in AGPS, we have put them on the pew seats until larger hymnal racks can be made.

CROSSLINES CANNED GOODS Please remember to bring non-perishable items to donate to Crosslines.  You can place your donation in the round container in the narthex, or in the shopping basket in the entry way to the fellowship hall.  Any and all donations are greatly needed and very appreciated.

BLOOD PRESSURE CHECKS are available in the narthex after each service.  You will be given a small form that can be carried in your wallet which will include medical information and a log of your blood pressure readings.

PRAYER BEARS are in the sanctuary pews and available to be signed out (notebook in narthex) and given to anyone that needs God’s love, comfort, and peace.  We have had reports and words of thanks from folks being blessed by this outreach ministry.

ASSISTIVE LISTENING If you are having a hard time hearing the service, assistive listening devices are available from the ushers.  They work like a transistor radio and you can control the volume.

TAPES OF THE SERVICE Audio tapes of the service are available after the 8:15 am service each Sunday.  They are located in the glassed-door cabinet in the narthex.  Tapes of the previous Sunday are also available.

THE GIDEONS INTERNATIONAL will give a short report after each service this morning on their work of distributing Bibles throughout the world.  A door offering will be received to aid this work.

PASTOR’S CLASS Pastor is having an Information Class this afternoon from 1:00 to 6:00 in the Conference Room.  The class is for everyone, but it is especially designed for those wanting to know more about the Lutheran Church or who are interested in joining the congregation.  Please let Pastor know if you are interested.  Refreshments will be served.

LWML BAKE SALE The LWML is holding a bake sale today after both services.  All proceeds will go toward the purchase of narthex furniture.

THIRTY-ONE PARTY You are invited to a Thirty-one party in the Fellowship Hall after church until 2:00.  Thirty-one is a company based on Psalm 31 (Celebrate, Encourage and Reward) and includes fun organizing bags, totes, purses and accessories that can be personalized.  The party is hosted by Gerry S. and presented by Bethany M.  Ten percent of the sales will be donated to the narthex furniture fund.

A BIG THANK YOU to all those who helped make last Sunday’s special day, special.  It was the fellowship committee, the Christian education committee, the eating committee, the play committee, the praise committee, the committee of children and of adults…you get idea, we just can’t thank everyone enough.  It was a wonderful time!

SOFTBALL The church co-ed team will play Monday at 8:30 pm, and the men’s team will play Tuesday evening, also at 8:30.

THE ELDERS’ will meet this Monday evening at 7:00.

YOU’RE INVITED The Joplin Immanuel LWML is having a day retreat next Saturday, Sept. 24, from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, at the home of Joan S. here in Carthage and have invited the ladies of our congregation to join them.  There will be a Bible study led by Pastor Mech, lunch, games, singing, and spiritual renewal.  Please RSVP to Emalie W. by Sept. 20 if you would like to attend.

CONGRATULATIONS to Jason & Karena A. who were blessed with the gift of a baby girl on Sept. 14.  Peyton Rose weighed 9 lbs., 5 oz. and was 21 inches long.  Proud members of her family are: grandparents Terry & Kathy P., uncles Charlie, Joey and Tim, and great-grandmother Katherine R.  We ask for God’s continued blessings on Peyton and her family.

ARE YOU WILLING?
