GSLC YOUTH  This evening at 6:30 all youth of high school age, and at least one parent, are asked to attend a meeting to set up plans for the coming school year and next summer’s National Youth Gathering in Texas.  The meeting will take place in the Fellowship Hall.

SOFTBALL  The co-ed team will play Monday evening at 6:30.  The men’s team will play Tuesday evening at 7:30.

SUNDAY SCHOOL/EDUCATION WORKDAY  This Saturday, Aug. 25, we’re going to organize and set up classrooms and the old quilter’s room for use, beginning at 10 a.m.  Teachers and loving parents are heartily invited!  Lunch provided if needed.  The more hands, the better.

FOOD CAMPAIGN FOR CROSSLINES  The pantry at Crosslines is getting bare.  The August Newsletter has a list of food needed.  Please give what you can.  They are not in need of clothing or canned vegetables.  August donation goal for Good Shepherd is 250 items.  We thank you.  UPDATE!  We are now at 175 items…75 more to go to meet our goal.

SHOES FOR AFRICA MISSION PROJECT  There are thousands of men, women and children in Africa that don’t own even one pair of shoes.  The Lutheran Women’s Missionary League is collecting used shoes through the month of August that will be sent to Africa.  Help by bringing shoes you no longer wear or want and place them in the  “big shoe box” in the narthex.  All sizes and styles are needed.  Tying shoe strings together, or putting a rubber band around individual pairs, would be a big help.  Thanks!  Please have shoes here by next Sunday, Aug. 26.

DUCT TAPE FLOWER PENS, made by Russell M., have been placed in the back of the pews for you to use to sign the attendance book.  Russell is the son of James & Bethany M. and Pastor and Gerry’s grandson.  Thank you, Russell.

A REMINDER  The fellowship we enjoy through visiting before our worship service begins is certainly very important and welcomed.  Please remember when the organist begins playing and the candles are lit, our service has actually begun and you are encouraged to begin to quiet.  This quiet time is a wonderful opportunity for personal prayer and to prepare yourself for worship.

CD’S AND TAPES OF THE SERVICE  Audio tapes and CD’s of the service are available after the service each Sunday.  They are located in the glassed-door cabinet in the narthex.

ASSISTIVE LISTENING  If you are having a hard time hearing the service, assistive listening devices are available from the ushers.  They work like a transistor radio and you can control the volume.

BLOOD PRESSURE CHECKS are available in the narthex after the service.  You will be given a small form that can be carried in your wallet which will include medical information and a log of your blood pressure readings.

PRAYER BEARS are in the sanctuary pews and available to be signed out (notebook in narthex) and given to anyone that needs God’s love, comfort, and peace.  We have had reports and words of thanks from folks being blessed by this outreach ministry.
