Announcements — March 2, 2014

† IN OUR PRAYERS  Savanna J., undergoing tests; Fern H., at Webb City Health and Rehab; Mike D., Tim S., Lois H. (Pastor and Mary’s sister), Andrea H. (Joann W.’s mother), and Paula B., undergoing treatment for cancer.

† LUTHERAN YOUTH FELLOWSHIP (LYF) will meet this evening at the church at 6:00 pm.

† 70 AND OVER DINNER  The youth group will be serving a four-course meal to those in our congregation who are 70 years of age (THREE score and ten) and older next Sunday evening, March 9, at 5:00.  It is one way our youth wish to show their appreciation for these seasoned congregational members.  The youth hope you can join them for this wonderful evening.

† MUSIC MEETING today after the late service.

† ASH WEDNESDAY SERVICES  This Wednesday we begin our journey through Lent with the Ash Wednesday services at 11:00 am and 7:00 pm.  We will have the dispensation of ashes during the services for anyone wanting to participate.  The season of Lent, which will continue until Easter, has been a part of the church calendar for many, many years.  It is a time when we focus on the suffering and death of Jesus and ponder again what it means for our life and salvation.

† MIDWEEK CLASSES  Starting this Wednesday, March 5, and through Lent, we will not be having Midweek classes.

† WEDNESDAY TIME CHANGES FOR LENT  Band practice will remain at 5:30.  Jr. Confirmation and all other activities will begin at 6:00 pm in order to allow everyone to attend the Midweek Lenten services.

† EASTER EGG HUNT  The LYF will be filling the plastic eggs for the annual Sunday School Easter Egg hunt.  They are asking the congregation for donations of bags of individually wrapped candy, small prizes, or rolls of nickels/dimes.  Your donations can be placed in the container provided in the youth room or they can be dropped off in the church office.  Thanks for your help with this project!

† LWML will meet this Tuesday, March 4, at 6:30 pm.  All ladies of the congregation are encouraged to be a part of this church mission group.

† DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME begins March 9, so remember to set your clocks ahead an hour next weekend.

† MEAL DELIVERY  Our week to deliver meals for the Over-60 Center is March 10-14.  If you can help with this worthwhile project, please contact Betty E.

† LUTHERAN SINGLES RETREAT  There will be a singles retreat the weekend of April 4-6, in Concordia, MO.  If you are interested, there are information and registration forms on the round table in the narthex.

† SUNDAY SCHOOL  Are you interested in teaching a Sunday School class?  Do you want to be a substitute Sunday School teacher?  The Christian Education Committee is always looking for more help.  If you are interested, there is a sign up sheet posted on the Christian Education bulletin board in the narthex to the left of the elevator.

† PRAYER BEARS are in the sanctuary pews and available to be signed out (notebook in narthex by nursery) and given to anyone that needs God’s love, comfort, and peace.
