COMMISSIONING Today we will be commissioning those who are going to the National Youth Gathering in San Antonio, Texas the first week in July. We pray the gathering will be a blessing to them.

MONDAY EVENING WORSHIP If you are unable to attend church on Sunday morning, there is another worship opportunity at 6:30 pm on Monday evenings. This will also be a service with Holy Communion.

SOFTBALL The men play Tuesday at 7:30.

LWML RED/ WHITE/ BLUE BAKE SALE NEXT SUNDAY
Yum! Goodies to help you celebrate the 4th of July…Be creative and start thinking how you can add patriotic colors of red/white/ blue to your baked goods. Let’s have fun with this, and make it a firecracker of a yummy event. All proceeds from the sale will go toward mission projects of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League.

PICTORIAL DIRECTORY In July we will begin to take pictures for a new congregational pictorial directory we will be publishing. There is a sign up sheet on the round table in the Narthex if you can help with scheduling and hosting. More on this later.

PORTALS OF PRAYER The July-September issue of the Portals of Prayer are available. You will find them on the table in the narthex next to the Nursery door.

FLOWER CHART If you would like to place flowers at the altar for a special occasion or in memory of someone, please sign the flower chart hanging on the wall next to the water fountain in the hallway. Simply write your name, phone number, and occasion with the pen provided.

ASSISTIVE LISTENING If you are having a hard time hearing the service, assistive listening devices are available from the ushers. They work like a transistor radio and you can control the volume.

BLOOD PRESSURE CHECKS are available in the nurse’s office after each service. You will be given a small form that can be carried in your wallet which will include medical information and a log of your blood pressure readings.

PRAYER BEARS are in the sanctuary pews and available to be signed out (notebook in narthex) and given to anyone that needs God’s love, comfort, and peace. We have had reports and words of thanks from folks being blessed by this outreach ministry.

BAPTISM TODAY We rejoice with Eric & Amy P. who have brought their son, Cole Emmitt, to be baptized today during our worship service. Cole was born May 10, 2013. His sponsors are Laurie K. and Willie W., III. May the Lord continue to bless Cole and his family.

DONALD H. Donald Lee H., 64, was received into the arms of his Savior on June 1, at his home. He had bravely battled colon cancer for the past two years. Don was born April 14, 1949, in Coffeeville, KS. He is survived by his wife Judy, two sons, Brock of Carthage and Chad and his wife, Stephanie, of Carl Junction, five grandchildren, one great-grandchild, along with one sister, two brothers, two sisters-in-laws and many nieces and nephews. Don’s funeral was Wednesday, June 5 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Coffeeville, the place of his baptism and confirmation. We pray for the Lord’s comfort to Judy and to all of the family.

AN IMPORTANT BOARD OF ED MEETING will be held today after Sunday School. Anyone that has helped us in the past or anyone what would prayerfully consider helping us now is urged to attend. We have several organizational issues to address and we need input and help.

PASTOR AND GERRY will be away for a few days to celebrate their wedding anniversary. They will be back by Thursday of this week. We thank Pastor Johns for leading the Monday evening service.

THANK YOU We would like to thank the members of Good Shepherd and Pastor Schnackenberg for all the cards, prayers, calls and visits while I have been recovering from my surgery. Everything is going well and hope to be in full strength soon. ~ Darrel and Clara H.

CONGRATULATIONS to Eric & Amy Perry who were given the gift of a baby boy on May 10. Cole Emmitt weighed 6 lbs., 6 oz., and was 19 1/2 inches long. May the Lord keep this family in his tender love and care.

WISHIN’ TO GO A FISHIN’ Here’s your chance for some great family time along with some great fishing time. A “family campout” is planned for ONE night, Friday, May 31, at Dale & Lee Ann B.s’ property south of Lockwood. There is a large stocked pond with room to camp for the night. A sign up sheet is in the narthex next to the music room.

MEMORIAL DAY On this Memorial Day weekend, we remember with gratitude those men and women that have given the ultimate sacrifice for our country so that we can enjoy the freedoms we have today.

BREAKFAST IN THE PARK The Judy G. back yard park. All ladies of the congregation are invited to join us for the annual LWML Breakfast in the Park this Saturday at 9:30 am. Hostesses are Judy Golden and Jennifer Shannon. You won’t want to miss this ladies, please join us. It promises to be a special fellowship time along with great food, extremely good company, and beautiful surroundings! In case of rain, we will move the event inside.

SUMMER WORSHIP Our summer worship schedule begins next Sunday, June 2. The Worship service with Holy Communion will be at 9:00 am, and Sunday School and Bible Class will be at 10:30 am.

SUMMER SUNDAY SCHOOL Next Sunday we will begin a brand new summer Sunday School session entitled, Living Inside Out. Along with new material, we’re looking for new teachers. As more of a team approach is embraced for the summer session, you won’t be alone in a classroom, and taking a family vacation won’t cause a pinch.
