IN OUR PRAYERS Tracy, George & Lois M.’s daughter, diagnosed with melanoma; Lois H., Pastor and Mary’s sister, and Paula B., undergoing treatment for cancer; Men and women serving in our military.

ATTENTION SUNDAY SCHOOLERS Please make an effort to arrive at least five minutes earlier for the Sunday School opening. This will help in getting classes started sooner.

CHOIR There is a sign up sheet on the round table for anyone interested in singing in a mixed choir. Dr. Johns will be the director. Practice will begin this week Thursday in the church sanctuary beginning at 7:00 pm. You don’t have to have a solo voice to sing in the choir, just a desire to joyfully sing unto the Lord.

A GUY RETREAT with fishing and camping will be Oct. 11-13. Please use the sign up sheet if you plan to attend this always wonderful time at the Beshears fishing pond.

PRAYER PARTNERS—ADULT/CHILD If you would like to be a prayer partner there are sign up sheets in the narthex. Kids, we need you to sign up, we have adults wanting to be your partner.

WOMEN TO WOMEN Ladies of the congregation, you are invited to the annual Women to Women Night Out sponsored by the LWML. We will meet at Rumor Has It, Carthage, at 6:30 pm, Oct. 1. The theme for the evening is Bless be the tie that binds… Everyone will make their own bead Blessing Bracelet to take home. Bracelet supplies will be furnished. Cost of the meal is $10.00. Please RSVP to Mary Parks, 358-1325.

PORTALS OF PRAYER You will find the newest addition of the Portals of Prayer on the table by the nursery in the narthex.

BEFORE BOTH SERVICES, on the second and fourth Sundays of each month, for about 15 minutes, Dr. Johns will introduce us to a variety of hymns and liturgies from our hymn book that we may not be familiar with. What a wonderful learning opportunity! We thank him for sharing this time with us.

MONDAY EVENING WORSHIP If you are unable to attend church on Sunday morning, there is another worship opportunity at 6:30 pm on Monday evenings. This is also a service with Holy Communion.

BLOOD PRESSURE CHECKS are available in the nurse’s office after each service. You will be given a small form that can be carried in your wallet which will include medical information and a log of your blood pressure readings.

PRAYER BEARS are in the sanctuary pews and available to be signed out (notebook in narthex) and given to anyone that needs God’s love, comfort, and peace. We have had reports and words of thanks from folks being blessed by this outreach ministry.

ASSISTIVE LISTENING If you are having a hard time hearing the service, assistive listening devices are available from the ushers. They work like a transistor radio and you can control the volume.

BAPTIZED TODAY We rejoice with Michael & Amber W. whose son, Colt Robert, will be baptized in the late service today. He was born August 3, 2013. Colt’s sponsors are Greg & Michelle E. He is the grandson of Kathy S. and Allen S. Bud & Ruby S. are the maternal great-grandparents. We pray for God’s blessings on this family.

LUTHERAN YOUTH FELLOWSHIP The LYF is having a progressive dinner this evening, visiting two homes for the different courses. We will begin our dining experience by meeting at the church at 5:00 pm travel to the first destination and finishing with dessert back at the church.

JR CONFIRMATION CLASS Jr. Confirmation will start this Wednesday from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. There will be a parents’ meeting after both worship services this morning to answer questions and to explain this year’s class.

SUNDAY SCHOOL RALLY DAY is today. The theme is Heroes Unmasked. A balloon launch will start things off during the Sunday School hour. Rally activities will continue after the late service with hot dogs, treats, and games for the kids. Be watching for Heroes. They could show up anywhere.

OVER-50 GOOD SHEPHERDS meet this Thursday at 6:00 for food, fellowship and games. You are welcome to join this informal group for an evening of fun and laughter.

THRIVENT WORKSHOP Heart-to-Heart: As Your Parents Age Attend this free workshop offered by Financial Associate Austin Rice on Tuesday, Sept. 10. Pick up a flyer in the narthex for more information, and to see how to register. Please note: Dinner will be served at 6:30 instead of light refreshments, but we do need a RSVP.  This program will not only help you with your parents, but will help each of us when our time comes for our families to make these decisions. You do not have to be a Thrivent member to attend.
