† IN OUR PRAYERS  Carol L., recovering from surgery; Tracy, George & Lois M.’s daughter, diagnosed with melanoma; Lois H., Pastor and Mary’s sister, and Paula B., undergoing treatment for cancer.

† CHURCH OFFICE COORDINATOR  Because Mary is retiring as the Church Office Coordinator at the end of this year, the Board of Elders is accepting applications for this position.  It is part time requiring 20-25 hours per week.  Mornings are preferred, but times are flexible.  Proficient skills required: organization, writing and grammar, Microsoft Publisher.  Duties include preparation of newsletter, maintaining membership records, coordination of church and other office activities.  A complete job description is available in the church office.  Prior to December 8, 2013, individuals should send a resume and cover letter to: Board of Elders, PO Box 257, Carthage, MO 64836 or bring it by the church office.  The cover letter should explain how you believe you will benefit by working for the Church, and also how the Church can benefit from your employment. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.

† YOUTH GROUP ICE SKATING The Youth Group is planning a trip to the Jones Center in Bentonville, AR, Sunday afternoon, November 24, to go ice skating.  We plan to leave the church after the late service and eat on the way down.  You will need $7.00 for the skating and money for lunch and snacks.  We plan to be back around 6:00 p.m.

† FLOWER CHART, 2014  If you would like to place flowers at the altar for a special occasion or in memory of someone, please sign the flower chart hanging on the wall next to the water fountain in the hallway.  Simply write your name, phone number, and occasion with the pen provided.

† BLOOD PRESSURE CHECKS are available in the nurse’s office after each service.  You will be given a form that can be carried in your wallet which will include medical information and a log of your blood pressure readings.

† PRAYER BEARS are in the sanctuary pews and available to be signed out (notebook in narthex by nursery) and given to anyone that needs God’s love, comfort, and peace.

ASSISTIVE LISTENING  If you are having a hard time hearing the service, assistive listening devices are available from the ushers.  They work like a transistor radio and you can control the volume

BAPTIZED We rejoice with Michael and Maggie C. at the baptism of their daughter, Millie Kay, this morning during the 10:45 service. Millie was born September 30, 2013. Her sponsor is Shelly E. Fred and Diana E. are the maternal grandparents. May God bless Millie and her family with His love always.

VETERANS DAY, NOV. 11 is a holiday to honor America’s veterans for their patriotism and willingness to serve and sacrifice for our nation’s common good. Thank you to all who served and are now serving our country. The taps played today by the Sager family is in their honor.

THE YOUTH GROUP is planning a trip to the Jones Center in Bentonville, AR, Sunday afternoon, November 24, to go ice skating. Be watching for details of the trip the next two Sundays.

THE BUDGET FOR 2014 A budget of $272,780 was approved for 2014. It is an increase of $1,570 from last year.

THE MONDAY EVENING SERVICES have been discontinued as of November 3. The Board of Elders will continue to discuss the need of extra worship services other than Sunday morning.

VOTERS’ MEETING The last Voters’ Assembly for 2013 will meet this evening, beginning at 7:00 pm. Along with other church business, the agenda will include: the election of officers, the 2014 budget, and discussion and decision on whether to continue with the Monday evening worship service. All communicant members 18 years and older are eligible be a part of the Voters’ Assembly.

YOUTH GROUP The youth group meets this evening at 6:00 to plan the ice skating trip later this month. Also, if there is time and the weather is good, we will take a trip to see if the spook light is out and about.

GUEST PASTOR TODAY The Rev. Ben Schumacher, retired pastor from Aurora, is our guest pastor today. He also will lead the Bible study. We thank him for being with us today.

PASTOR & GERRY ON VACATION Pastor and Gerry are on vacation until October 31st. They are in Arizona for Pastor to play baseball, visit with friends and do some hiking. Please contact the church office if you need pastoral care.

HAYRIDE AND HOBO SUPPER This evening is our annual Harvest Party. Hobo stew cookin’ begins at 5:00 pm with the dumpin’ of everyone’s prepared meat and vegies into the big black pot sittin’ over the open fire. The hayrides will begin at 5:30 pm at the home of Jack H.

LWML FALL RALLY-SAT., NOV. 2 The theme for the LWML Fall Rally, hosted by Immanuel, Lockwood, is Here am I; send me! Speakers will be Dr. Brian & Amy Ipsen from Immanuel, Joplin. They will talk about their medical missionary work in Africa. Rally begins at 10:00 am, a salad lunch will be served. Please RSVP to the church office if you plan to attend. Your invitation is on the round table in the narthex. Everyone is welcome.

ROAD TRIP/DINNER THEATER A day road trip to Overland Park, KS, to a dinner theater is planned for Nov. 7. There are only two tickets left! We will see the Broadway hit, Never too Late. Estimated cost for the theater ticket, which includes dinner and transportation will be $60.00. The bus will leave from the church at 8:00 am and return approximately at 6:30 pm. Please contact Betty E., ASAP, to make your reservation(s). Additional information is on the round table in the narthex.
