Announcement — June 8, 2014

† IN OUR PRAYERS  Paula B.,Mary C., Mike D., and Tim S., undergoing treatment for  cancer.

† GEARING UP FOR VBS  This year’s Vacation Bible School, Weird Animals, will run from July 27-31.  Christian Education would like to get shirts for all the children attending and all the adults volunteering this year.  There is an order form on the round table in the narthex where you can designate your size if you plan on attending.  Also, be looking for information coming soon about the VBS kick-off event scheduled for Sunday, July 13.

† THE EARLY BIRD GETS THE WORD  Lee Ann B. is leading a Bible Study during the summer months when we have one service.  The topic of this study is from the Lutheran Hour resources and is called “Intersection  Between Church and State”.  The class is held in the conference room from 8:00 am – 8:45 am on Sunday mornings before the 9:00 am service.  If you have any questions, please contact Lee Ann.

† COMING SOON  Pastor Schnackenberg is planning a presentation of  the trip to Germany.  Be watching for more details coming soon!

† LWML BRUNCH IN THE PARK  All ladies of the congregation are invited to join the LWML ladies for their Brunch in the Park,thisSat., June 14, beginning at 9:00 am.  Our theme will be “Tickled Pink that  Jesus Loves Us!”   All women are encouraged to join us for this fun gathering and wear something pink!  LWML Members are to bring something for a brunch buffet.  It will be held in the Villages of Rollin’s Creek pavilion.  The neighborhood is just off of Highland Avenue before you head into the country.  Nan Borg arranged the meeting place and will provide the topic/devotion.  This fun and yummy event will take the place of the regular Tuesday evening meeting for the month of June.

† LUTHERAN HOUR INFORMATION TABLE  During the month of June,  a variety of information and products provided by the Lutheran Hour Ministries will be displayed on the round table in the narthex.  If you have any questions about the Lutheran Hour Ministries contact Lee Ann Beshears at (417)310-2923.

† MUSIC MEETING  The Special Music Committee will not meet during the summer months.

† SIMPLY GIVING is an automated giving program, provided through Thrivent, available at GSLC for members that wish to have their weekly or monthly contributions deducted from their checking account.  It is an easy way to make your regular contributions to our congregation.  If you are interested in using this program see Glenn Moll, Luke Hill, or Denise Golden for details on how to sign up.

† BLOOD PRESSURE CHECKS are available in the nurse’s office   after the service.  You will be given a small form that can be carried in your wallet which will include medical information and a log of your blood pressure readings.

† PRAYER BEARS are in the sanctuary pews and available to be signed out (notebook in narthex by nursery) and given to anyone that needs God’s love, comfort, and peace.

† ASSISTIVE LISTENING  If you are having a hard time hearing the service, assistive listening devices are available from the ushers.  They work like a transistor radio and you can control the volume.

† JR CONFIRMATION  Five of our young folks will publicly confess their faith this morning through the Rite of Confirmation during the late service.     They are:

Garrett William B., son of Jeff and Diane B.

Brooke Michelle G., daughter of Greg and Denise G.

Daniel Grammer H., son of Luke and Walli H.

Ethan Daniel Josiah N., son of John and Rhonda N.

Kimberly Rose S., daughter of Rob and Jennifer S.

We thank God for them and ask Him to bless their public confession to His glory.

† GUEST SPEAKER  The Rev. Dr. Kevin G. is our guest speaker this morning for both services.  He will also lead the 9:30 Bible Class.  Dr. G. is the son of Jim & Judy G. and uncle to confirmand Brooke G.  He is the pastor of Village Lutheran Church, Ladue, MO and the Second Vice President of the Missouri District.  We are glad to have him and his family here with us for this special day.

† GUEST LECTORS   Luther and Gloria D., the maternal grandparents of Ethan N., are our guest lectors this morning.  Luther is a DCE and Gloria is a Deaconess.  Both are retired and living in Eureka, MO.  We are glad to have them here for this special service.

† FAMILY CAMPOUT  Mark your calendars, this year’s annual “family  campout” has been scheduled for May 30-31 at Dale & Lee Ann B.’ property south of Lockwood.  There is information and a sign up sheet on the round table in the narthex.

† SUMMER WORSHIP  Starting next Sunday, June 1, we will have one     worship service on Sunday and it will begin at 9:00 am.  Sunday School and    Bible Class will be at 10:30 am.

† BIBLE STUDIES  The Wednesday and Thursday morning Bible studies will resume this Wednesday & Thursday, May 28 & 29.

NURSERY ATTENDANT  We are in need of a Nursery Attendant for the 10:45 worship service on Sunday mornings.  The Attendant must be 18 years or older, be able to lift children, must pass a background check, care for the children in the nursery starting at 10:15 a.m. on Sunday mornings, keep the Nursery clean and sanitized, and maintain appropriate and safe toys.  The position pays $20.00 per Sunday.  You may pick up a complete position description in the church office.  If you are interested, please leave a brief resume with the church office.  Please do

† GUEST PASTOR  It is wonderful to have Pastor Asmus and his wife, Lorraine, here this Sunday.  Thank you, Pastor Asmus, for handling the services and Bible Class while Pastor Schnackenberg is away.

† ARMED FORCES SUNDAY  The Lutheran Church-Missouri    Synod has designated this Sunday as Armed Forces Sunday.  There is a flyer in this morning’s bulletin with information and a way to contribute to help strengthen the men and women of our military.

† GERMANY TRIP  Pastor & Gerry are in Germany this week with a group from Good Shepherd.  They will be returning Saturday, May 24.

† FAMILY CAMPOUT  Mark your calendars, this year’s annual “family campout” has been scheduled for May 30-31 at Dale & Lee Ann Beshears’ property south of Lockwood.  There is information and a sign up sheet on the round table in the narthex.
