† MEAL DELIVERY  Thanks to all those who helped with the Over 60 Center meal delivery this past week!  Your willingness to help is greatly appreciated!

† CHURCH COUNCIL will meet this evening after the Hobo Dinner.

† GUYS FALL FISHING RETREAT  If you are looking for a fun weekend of camping and fishing, then please join us next weekend, Oct. 24 – 26, for the annual guys fall fishing retreat and campout.  The guys will be going to Dale & LeeAnn B’ property, which is located just south of Lockwood.  There is a large stocked pond for fishing from the bank.  Men and boys of all ages are welcome — and bring your friends!  Contact Dale with any questions.  There is a sign up sheet in the narthex on the display table by the elevator.

† HOBO DINNER  Come join us in celebrating the fall at the annual   Hobo Dinner tonight.  The fun begins at 5:30 pm.  Just bring some a’ yer own pre-cooked stew (canned is okay; yer fav’rit homemade recipe is     better), or you can bring some cooked vegetables or meat to toss in.  There will be a hayride on the church grounds and a jack-o-lantern carving      contest, so bring along an uncarved pumpkin.  There will also be carnival games and treats for the kids and a prize for the best dressed hobo.  We would like  people to help by bringing crackers or dips and we could use some help with set-up.  There is a sign-up sheet in the narthex on the round table.  Y’all come now, ya hear?!

† LUTHERAN YOUTH FELLOWSHIP will meet at the church tonight at 5:30 pm to help with the games at the Hobo Dinner.  Each youth member needs to bring a box of snack cakes and a bag of candy as a donation for prizes for the games.

† THE VOTERS’ MEETING has been rescheduled for Sunday, Nov. 9, at 7:00 pm.  Important business will include the election of officers and   approving the 2015 budget.  All confirmed members, age 18 and over, are eligible to be a part of the Voters’ Assembly.

† THE LWML FALL ZONE RALLY will be held on Saturday, Nov. 1, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Monett, MO.   Registration begins at    9:30 am, and the Rally will begin at 10:00 am.  This year’s theme is Carry His Light.  Phil & Carrie Hedemann will be the guest speakers.  There will be an in-gathering for Crosslines of Monett.

VACATION  Pastor and Gerry will leave this Thursday for Pheonix, AZ, for Pastor to play in the Men’s Senior Baseball League’s World Series and to spend time visiting friends.  They will return sometime on Thursday, Nov. 6.  Pastor Gary Asmus will be the guest pastor on Sunday, Oct. 26 and

† IN OUR PRAYERS Samuel family, at the death of Howard Samuel; Ruth H., undergoing rehab at Mount Vernon Care Place after back surgery; Todd H. (Pastor’s nephew), Karen L. and Sandy O., recovering from surgery; Royce A. (Wynette Q.’s father), and Paula B.,undergoing treatment for cancer.

† MEMORIAL SERVICE  Howard K. Samuel, 86, was received into the arms of his Savior Thursday, October 9, at his home following a long illness.  He was born March 2, 1928, in Oak Park, IL and was baptized on April 29, 1928.  On March 29, 1942, he confirmed his faith through the Rite of Confirmation.  He joined the Army after graduating from High School and served at the end of WWII.  On November 22, 1974, he married Virginia in Riverside, CA.  Howard is a charter member of Good Shepherd and remained active until his death.  Howard’s memorial service will be this afternoon at 3:00 followed by burial at Good Shepherd Lutheran Cemetery. Virginia asked that memorials be given to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.  We ask God’s blessings of comfort for Howard’s  family and friends.

† OVER 60 CENTER MEAL DELIVERY  Tomorrow, October 13, through Friday, October 17, is Good Shepherd’s week to deliver meals for the Over-60 Center.  If you can help with this worthwhile project, please contact Betty E.

† CHURCH COUNCIL will meet this evening at 7:00 pm.

† SEASONED SAINTS SCRIPTURE STUDY will meet this Wednesday morning at 10:30 am.

† THE HOG ROAST COMMUNITY OUTREACH EVENT was a wonderful success!  The weather was perfect and it was a fun evening of food, fellowship, and entertainment.  Close to 300 people were served and over $1500.00 was raised for Carthage Crisis Center and Life Choices.  Thanks to all those who served on the committee, donated items, helped in setting up, provided the music, and helped clean up!  GSLC really did a great job in putting this event together!

† IN OUR PRAYERS Jamie H., at the death of her husband; Judy G., recovering from a cardiac procedure; Todd H. (Pastor’s nephew) and Sandy O., recovering from surgery; Royce A. (Wynette Q.’s father)Paula B., and Howard S. undergoing treatment for cancer.

† BAPTISM  We rejoice with Amber M. at the baptism of her son, Bentley Allen M., this morning during the late service.  Bentley was born February 14, 2014.  His sponsor is his grandfather, Robert M.  We ask God’s blessings on him and his family.

† REFRESHMENTS  There will be refreshments in the narthex between the two services in honor of Clarice O.s’ 80 th birthday.  Happy Birthday, Clarice!

† LWML “WOMEN TO WOMEN” NIGHT  ALL ladies of the congregation are invited to the annual “Women to Women” night of fellowship on Tuesday,  October 7, at 6:00 pm at El Charro in Carthage.  The theme this year is Restore-Renew-Refurbish.  Ladies are encouraged to bring an item that they have restored, renewed, or refurbished.  RSVP to Mary P. or Judy G.

† IN OUR PRAYERS H. family, at the death of Marie H.;  Mary F., home with her daughter; Kristen D., Todd H. (Pastor’s nephew) and Sandy O., recovering from surgery; Royce A. (Wynette Q.’s father)Paula B.Mary C., and Howard S. undergoing treatment for cancer.

† MARIE HERZOG  Our Lord received unto himself Marie Elizabeth Herzog on Friday, September 19, after a long illness.  She had been living in the St. Louis area close to her family.  Marie had been an active member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.  A       memorial service will be conducted at 5 pm, Saturday, Sept. 27, at Marks Mortuary in Wood River.  Graveside Services have been planned for 11 am, Friday, Nov. 28, 2014, at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Carthage.

† HOG ROAST OUTREACH EVENT  This evening, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm, is our community outreach event and fundraiser.  Come,  have a great meal and enjoy the various musical groups.  We would like to see all of our Good Shepherd folks here tonight at the church to support this wonderful event!

† PARENTS, GOOD SHEPHERD NEEDS YOUR CHILDREN!  Our Sunday School children have been working on three songs to sing at the GSLC Community Hog Roast this evening from 5:30 – 7:30 pm.    Try and have the kids here by 5:30 pm so they will be ready to go.  We’re excited to hear those wonderful young voices praising God!

† ASSISTIVE LISTENING  If you are having a hard time hearing the service, assistive listening devices are available from the ushers.  They work like a transistor radio and you can control the volume.

† BLOOD PRESSURE CHECKS are available in the nurse’s office   after the service.  You will be given a small form that can be carried in your wallet which will include medical information and a log of your blood pressure readings.

† PRAYER BEARS are in the sanctuary pews and available to be signed out (notebook in narthex by nursery) and given to anyone that needs God’s love, comfort, and peace.
