Announcements — March 17, 2024

† IN OUR PRAYERS  Cindy E., continuing her recovery; Jim B., undergoing treatment for pancreatic cancer; Stephen Ministry and their care receivers.

† LENT started in February.  This Wednesday, March 20 at 11:00 am and 7:00 pm, we will have our last Wednesday Service. The following Sunday, Palm Sunday,  will be the beginning of Holy Week.

† HOLY WEEK SCHEDULE 

March 28: Maundy Thursday Communion Service – 11:00 am, 7:00 pm

March 29: Good Friday Worship Service – 11:00 am, 7:00 pm

March 31: Easter Sunrise Service – 7:00 am

Easter Breakfast – 7:30 am

Easter Egg Hunt – 8:30 am

Easter Worship Service with Communion – 9:00 am

† ST PATRICK’S DAY DINNER  Join us today after Sunday School and Adult Bible Class for our St. Patrick’s Day Pot Luck.

† EASTER EGGS  We will be filling plastic eggs for the Sunday School Children.  Christian Education is asking the congregation for donations of rolls of nickels/dimes, small prizes, or bags of individually wrapped candy to fill the eggs.  Your donations can be placed in the container provided in the church office.  Thanks for your help with this project!

† EASTER BREAKFAST  The LWML will be helping with the Easter breakfast again this year. There will be a free will offering collected to help send two delegates to the district convention in June of 2024.  There is a sign-up sheet on the round table in the narthex if you’d like to help with items needed for the breakfast.

† PORTAL OF PRAYER  The Spring Portals of Prayer are available on the information table in the Narthex.

† LENT started in February.  We will have weekday services each Wednesday at 11:00 am and 7:00 pm throughout Lent. Be sure and utilize these services as part of your Lenten observance.

† MEALS ON WHEELS  Good Shepherd’s turn to deliver meals will be Wednesday, March 6.  If you would like to help with this or have questions please contact Sandy D.

† ST PATRICK’S DAY DINNER  Mark your calendar, Good Shepherd will be having a St. Patrick’s Day Pot Luck on Sunday, March 17. The dinner will feature corned beef. Please come and join us and bring a side dish to share.

† TREASURER NOTE  For the first two month of 2024, our paid expenses totaled $41,297 while our income totaled $39,697 leaving us a deficit of $1,600. 

† GSLC FRIENDS BIBLE STUDY  Beginning March 4 class will be starting at 6:30 pm  sharp.  We are starting a study/discussion of The Chosen developed by an LCMS pastor in Lincoln Nebraska.  Each session is about 90 minutes.  If you would like more information you can contact Karen Perkins.

† LENT started in February.  We will have weekday services each Wednesday at 11:00 am and 7:00 pm throughout Lent. Be sure and utilize these services as part of your Lenten observance.

† THE SUNDAY SCHOOL CHILDREN will be singing in the service next Sunday, March 3.  They enjoy sharing what they have been working on with our church family.

† MEALS ON WHEELS  Good Shepherd’s turn to deliver meals will be  Wednesday, March 6.  If you would like to help with this or have questions please contact Sandy D.

† LENT DEVOTIONAL BOOKS  We have devotional books to share with the congregation this Lent season.  “Be Gracious to Me” devotionals books are available in the Narthex on the information table next to Portals of Prayer.

† MEAL TRAIN  Cory H. has had several setbacks in his recovery from an appendectomy requiring hospitalization again this last week. Due to allergy  concerns we are forgoing a meal train and starting a gift card collection for them instead. Gift cards to gas stations, Natural Grocers in Joplin, or Walmart would all be helpful for their family at this time. If you would like to help you can give these to Megan or Pastor to get to them or mail/email them directly to the Hylands: Khyland23@gmail.com.
