DISTRICT PASTORAL CONFERENCE Pastor will be at the Missouri District Pastoral Conference Monday through Tuesday afternoon at Osage Beach, MO. He will be back in the office on Wednesday.

PASTOR & GERRY’S VACATION Pastor and Gerry will be on vacation from October 18th through the 31st. They will be traveling to Arizona for Pastor to play baseball, to visit with friends and do some hiking. Please contact the church office if you need pastoral care.
GUEST PASTOR OCT. 20, 27 The Rev. Ben Schumacher, retired pastor from Aurora, will be our guest pastor the next two Sundays. He also will lead the Bible study each Sunday. Pastor Schumacher’s wife’s name is Elaine. We look forward to them being with us.
HAYRIDE AND HOBO SUPPER Sunday evening, Oct. 27, will be our annual Harvest Party. Hobo stew cookin’ begins at 5:00 pm with the dumpin’ of everyone’s prepared meat and vegies into the big black pot sittin’ over the open fire. The hayrides will begin at 5:30 pm at the home of Jack H. There is a sign up sheet in the narthex to let us know what extras you would like to bring to share.
ROAD TRIP/DINNER THEATER A day road trip to Overland Park, KS, to a dinner theater is planned for Nov. 7. We will see the Broadway hit, Never too Late. Estimated cost for the theater ticket, which includes dinner and transportation will be $60.00. The bus will leave from the church at 8:00 am and return approximately at 6:30 pm. THE SHEPHERD’S STRINGS will be the guest musicians for the Carthage Music Club this afternoon at 3:00 pm at Grace Episcopal Church, 820 Howard. Please plan to attend and support the GSLC Shepherd’s Strings.
THE LUTHERAN WOMEN’S FALL QUARTERLY is on the table in the narthex next to the nursery. Please help yourself to a copy. It always has great feature stories and Bible studies, plus it will enlighten you about the dedicated mission work of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League.
MONDAY EVENING SERVICES We will not have our Monday evening services Oct. 14, 21, and 28, due to Pastor being away at the District Pastoral Conference and then being on vacation.
PORTALS OF PRAYER You will find the newest edition of the Portals of Prayer on the table by the nursery in the narthex.
BLOOD PRESSURE CHECKS are available in the nurse’s office after each service. You will be given a form that can be carried in your wallet which will include medical information and a log of your blood pressure readings.
PRAYER BEARS are in the sanctuary pews and available to be signed out (notebook in narthex) and given to anyone that needs God’s love, comfort, and peace.
ASSISTIVE LISTENING If you are having a hard time hearing the service, assistive listening devices are available from the ushers. They work like a transistor radio and you can control the volume.
