Announcements — May 20, 2012

ONE SERVICE  A reminder that beginning NEXT Sunday, May 27, and for the rest of the summer, our worship schedule changes to one service with communion at 9:30 a.m., followed by Sunday School and Bible Class at 10:45 a.m.

NAME TAG SUNDAY  Next Sunday there will be name tags available in the narthex and we as ask that everyone wear one.  It’s a great way to help us get to know each other a little better. 

THE JR CONFIRMATION CLASS will have their final confirmation class this Wednesday evening at 6:30 with a review of this year’s lessons.  You are welcome to attend.  After the review, the class will be fitted for their confirmation robes.

JR CONFIRMATION NEXT SUNDAY  Five of our young folks will publicly confess their faith next Sunday during the 9:30 am service.

THE ELDERS will meet this Monday evening at 7:00.

SOFTBALL  The co-ed team will play Monday evening at 7:30 pm.  The men’s team will play Thursday evening at 7:30.   

Give…because every drop tells a story.  THE COMMUNITY BLOOD CENTER BLOODMOBILE is here today from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm.  Please give if you can.  Be sure you have photo identification with you.  Blood donations save lives.

FESTIVAL OF HYMNS  A Pipe Organ Dedication Concert will be presented at Faith Lutheran Church, 2134 Grand Ave., Carthage, Sunday, June 3, at 3:00 pm.  Organist is Sara Buelow, Faith’s pastor’s wife, along with other guest musicians.  Cake and punch reception to follow. 

BLOOD PRESSURE CHECKS are available in the narthex after each service.  You will be given a small form that can be carried in your wallet which will include medical information and a log of your blood pressure readings.

PRAYER BEARS are in the sanctuary pews and available to be signed out (notebook in narthex) and given to anyone that needs God’s love, comfort, and peace.  We have had reports and words of thanks from folks being blessed by this outreach ministry.

CD’S AND TAPES OF THE SERVICE  Audio tapes and CD’s of the service are available after the 8:15 am service each Sunday.  They are located in the glassed-door cabinet in the narthex. 

ASSISTIVE LISTENING  If you are having a hard time hearing the service, assistive listening devices are available from the ushers.  They work like a transistor radio and you can control the volume.

One Service, Starting May 27

After much discussion, the Voters’ Assembly approved going to one worship service during the summer months starting at 9:30 a.m. with Sunday School to follow at 10:45 a.m. Holy Communion will be celebrated every Sunday.

This new schedule will begin on Sunday, May 27 (Memorial Day weekend), and is planned to end on Sunday, September 2 (Labor Day weekend). We ask God to bless this decision to the good of the congregation, and to His glory.

BAPTISM We rejoice with Corey & Rhonda S. who’s daughter, Violet Claire, will receive the Rite of Holy Baptism today during the 10:45 am worship service. Her sponsors are Mark & Colette S. Her maternal grandparents are Ron & Barbara S. May the Lord bless and keep this family in his loving care.

SOUTHWEST CIRCUIT PASTORAL CONFERENCE will be held here tomorrow at 9:00 am. The LWML will serve lunch.

TRUSTEE/KITCHEN COMMITTEE All members of the board of trustees and the newly formed kitchen committee are asked to attend a meeting this Wednesday evening at 7:30.

CROSSLINES WORK DAY is this Friday, beginning at 8:00 am. If you would like to help with this very worthwhile mission, please contact Nan B.

Please pick the time you would like to donate and sign your name on the sheet in the narthex. VOTERS’ ASSEMBLY At the voters’ meeting last Sunday evening it was approved to go to one worship service for the summer. Beginning on May 27, there will be one service at 9:30 am and Sunday School at 10:45 am. Holy Communion will be celebrated each Sunday.

LWML SPRING RALLY The Southwest Zone Lutheran Women’s Missionary League Spring Rally is this afternoon at 3:00, at the Gene Taylor Community Building in Sarcoxie. Hosted by the Ladies’ Aid at Trinity Lutheran Church, Sarcoxie. The guest speaker for the rally is Rosie Speck, who will talk about “Living as a Christian in a Muslim World”. Ms. Speck taught in Tehran and will come dressed in common Muslim attire. Contact Mary P., if you would like to attend and need a ride.
