Announcements — May 15, 2016

† IN OUR PRAYERS  Clarice O., after receiving a pacemaker Friday morning; Stella Q., Sue V., recovering from surgery at St. Luke’s; Kathy P., suffering health issues; Jack H., recovering at home; Paula B., Sara P., Aaron P., Sara T., undergoing treatment for cancer.

† OLD FASHIONED POTLUCK  The LWML is hosting a birthday potluck for Pastor Mackie and Earl Kirn next Sunday, May 22. They both have birthdays on May 23rd!  The potluck will be held in the Fellowship Hall following the late service.  Birthday cake and ice cream will be provided. Bring your favorite dish/dishes to share and help us celebrate with them.

† JR CONFIRMATION CLASS  Today at 1:00 pm, the confirmands will be having a practice run of their confirmation which will occur on Sunday, May 29.  Next     Sunday, May 22, there will not be Jr Confirmation Class.

† SUMMER WORSHIP  Starting June 5, for the summer months, we will have one worship service on Sunday and it will begin at 9:00 am.   Sunday School and Bible class will be at 10:30 am.

† CALL COMMITTEE UPDATE  Thank you to those that participated in the survey. The District has the information and is accumulating the results for the Call     Committee to review. The task of preparing a Ministry Description will guide us through the remainder of the Call process. The Ministry Description will be reviewed and approved by the Voters in a special meeting that will likely occur during the early part of June. Please continue to pray for our church as we continue through this process.

† NEW BANNER  Have you noticed the new banner that features the  Alpha and Omega?  This banner will represent our Southwest Zone during the banner processional at the LWML Missouri District Convention in June.  The theme for  the Convention is “God’s Love Spans the Centuries.”  The Alpha and Omega symbols, simply stated and displayed on a solid black background, says it ALL! God is Lord from the beginning of all time, to the end of all time.  A span of time none of us can imagine.  The banner was designed by Mary P. and Karen M. with Karen doing the sewing.  Thank you, ladies, for such a striking banner.

† SUNDAY SCHOOL OFFERINGS  For the first couple of quarters in 2016, both the adult and the children’s Sunday School offerings will be going to Children’s Haven in Joplin.  If you would like to monitor our progress, keep an eye on our bulletin board downstairs that will track our Sunday School offerings!

† PRAYER BEARS are in the sanctuary pews and available to be signed out (notebook in narthex by nursery) and given to anyone that needs God’s love,  comfort, and peace.

† ASSISTIVE LISTENING  If you are having a hard time hearing the service, assistive listening devices are available from the ushers.  They work like a transistor radio and you can control the volume.

† BLOOD PRESSURE CHECKS are available in the nurse’s office after the service.  You will be given a small form that can be carried in your wallet which will include medical information and a log of your blood pressure readings.

† ANNUAL FRIDAY NIGHT FAMILY CAMPOUT  This Friday to Saturday is the annual GSLC Friday Night Family Campout.  This event will be held at the “The Fishing Hole” (Dale & Lee Ann Beshears’ property south of Lockwood).  There is sign up sheet and information on the round table in the narthex.

† THE SUNDAY SCHOOL CHILDREN will be singing at the beginning of the late service today for Mother’s Day.  Ladies, please take a carnation as you leave today, a gift from GSLC Sunday School!

† 70 & OVER DINNER  All members (and their spouses) that are 70 years of age  and over are invited to attend this annual dinner prepared and served especially for them by our Lutheran Youth Fellowship Group tonight at 5:00 pm.  This special event is one way our youth wish to show their appreciation for these seasoned congregational members.  It is always a lot of fun for both the younger members and the older members.

† THE SUNDAY SCHOOL CHILDREN will be singing at the beginning of the late     service next Sunday, May 8, for Mother’s Day.  They will continue working on their songs today and next Sunday in opening.

† ELDERS’ MEETING  The Elders will meet tomorrow evening at 7:00 pm.

† LWML will meet this Tuesday at 6:30 pm in the fellowship hall.

† VOTERS’ MEETING  The regular Voters’ Meeting will be held today at 7:00 pm in the fellowship hall.  Along with our regular business we will also be asked to approve a resolution to GSLC’s Constitution.  If you would like to see the resolution there are copies in the church office.

† LWML SPRING RALLY  The LWML Spring Rally will be held this afternoon at St. Andrew’s Church in Stockton.  It is scheduled to begin at 3:00 pm with registration starting at 2:30 pm.  If you would like to go together with a group, please meet in the church parking lot at 1:30 pm.  The program will be Jason G. with the Comfort Dogs.  All ladies (and men) are invited to attend these rallies.  They are a wonderful afternoon of spiritual growth and spending time with fellow Lutherans.

† 70 & OVER DINNER  All members (and their spouses) that are 70 years of age  and over are invited to attend this annual dinner prepared and served especially for them by our Lutheran Youth Fellowship Group next Sunday, May 1, at 5:00 pm.  This special event is one way our youth wish to show their appreciation for these seasoned congregational members.  It is always a lot of fun for both the younger members and the older members.  Please, RSVP to the church office, 358-1325, so they can plan to have plenty of food.  Need a ride or the meal delivered to your home?  That can be  provided ~ just relay that to any member of the Youth Group or let the church office know.
