† IN OUR PRAYERS  The C. family, at the death of David C.; Gary D., Greg D.’s brother, after unsuccessful cancer surgery; Tom & Linda D., suffering severe back pain; Gary B., suffering health issues; Janice H., recovering from knee surgery at home; Stella Q., Sue V., recovering from surgery at St. Luke’s; Kathy P., suffering health issues; Paula B., Sara P., undergoing treatment for cancer.

† CONGRATULATIONS  We rejoice with Carlin & Emily P. at the birth of their baby boy, Brock Gene P..  Brock was born July 12, in Joplin, MO.

† SPECIAL VOTERS’ MEETING  A special Voters meeting will take place today, following the service, to vote on an extension of Pastor Mackie’s Intentional Interim Pastor contract.

† VBS KICK-OFF PARTY  Come out to the Carthage Municipal Park this   afternoon for this year’s VBS kick-off party.  The fun will start at 4:00 pm with rides at Kiddie Land.  There is a cook-out at 5:00 pm.  Hot dogs, hamburgers, and drinks will be provided.  Those attending are asked to bring a dish to share.  The festivities will conclude with swimming at the Carthage Municipal Pool from 6:00 – 8:00 pm.

† LCMS NATIONAL YOUTH GATHERING  There are 8 youth members and 2 adult leaders of our congregation attending the LCMS National Youth Gathering in New Orleans.  Please remember to keep these young people in your prayers as they travel and experience this awesome event together.  Those who want to experience the LCMS youth gathering events in the superdome can find a livestream at http://lcmsgathering.com/. † TUESDAY MORNING BIBLE CLASS will not meet this Tuesday, July 19.

† VBS SET-UP  Work days for this year’s VBS will be this Thursday, July 21, at 6:00 pm and (if needed) Saturday, July 23, at 9:00 am, for anyone who wants to come and help set-up decorations and props to make this year’s VBS really come to life.

† LYF FIREWORKS STAND  Thanks to all of you who came and supported our LYF at the fireworks stand.  It was a very successful fundraiser for them!

† SUNDAY SCHOOL OFFERING $1000 GOAL REACHED  For the first couple of quarters in 2016, both the adult and the children’s Sunday School offerings were being collected to help Children’s Haven in Joplin.  If you are monitoring our progress by watching our bulletin board downstairs you will notice that we reached our $1000 goal.  All 10 gingerbread kids are up! Thanks so much for your support of this project!

† VBS REGISTRATION  Vacation Bible School will be held July 24 – 28, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm, with a light dinner at 5:30 pm each evening.  There are registration forms on the round table in the narthex.

INVITATION  Members of Zion Lutheran Church, 102 West Jackson, Pittsburg, KS, invite you to join them in observing their church’s 140th anniversary on July 24.  Activities include: 10:30 am worship service followed by a potluck dinner; 2:00 pm anniversary worship service followed by a reception and refreshments

† VBS HELP NEEDED  Nicole B. will be getting most of this year’s VBS set from a church in Joplin.  She is in need of someone who has an  enclosed trailer to go with her to transport all of the background pieces to Good Shepherd.  If you would be able to help with this please contact Nicole, it would be greatly appreciated.

† TAKE ME OUT TO THE BALL GAME  The Shepherd’s Own will sing the National Anthem at the Northwest Arkansas Naturals game on Friday, July 15.  The game starts at 7:05 pm and the opponent is the Springfield Cardinals.  Tickets are $7.00 each.  They will have post-game fireworks. If you are interested in going please contact Jim G.

† SUMMER WORSHIP  For the summer months, we will have one worship service on Sunday and it will begin at 9:00 am.  Sunday School and Bible class will be at 10:30 am.

† LYF FIREWORKS STAND  Good Shepherd’s Youth Group is running a fireworks stand at 1200 Briarbrook, across from Casey’s, in Carl Junction, as a fundraiser for the 2016 National Youth Gathering.  It is open today and tomorrow.  There are flyers with coupons on the information table in the narthex.  If you haven’t had a chance to buy your fireworks, please come and support the LYF’s stand!

† GUEST WORSHIP LEADER  It is wonderful to have Mr. Jerry Hemmingson, a member of Immanuel Lutheran, Joplin and a candidate to become an LCMS pastor, and his wife here today.  Thank you, Mr. Hemmingson, for leading the service today.

† BAPTISM  We rejoice with Lars and Abbi D. at the baptism of their son, Otto Paul D., after the service this morning.  Otto was born February 6, 2016.  His Sponsors are Kristen B. and AJ S. God be with this family as they grow in His grace and love.

† SUMMER WORSHIP  For the summer months, we will have one worship service on Sunday and it will begin at 9:00 am.  Sunday School and Bible class will be at 10:30 am.

† VOTERS’ MEETING RESULTS  There was a Special Voters’ Meeting held on June 5 following the service.  With a quorum present, the voters resolved to adopt the resolution to the constitution and the ministry description.

† MEAL DELIVERY  Thank you, to all those who helped with the Over 60 Center meal delivery this past week.  What a great way to help support our local community!
