† IN OUR PRAYERS  Jan G., recovering from knee surgery; Jody G., placed on hospice; Andrew S., continuing to struggle with weakness from his previous illness; Jack H., undergoing  rehab at St Luke’s Nursing Center; Stella Q., struggling with her loss of memory; Kathy P., suffering health issues; Sara P., undergoing treatment for cancer; Stephen Ministry and their care receivers.

† SCRIPTURE STUDY  The Wednesday morning Scripture Study Group will not meet this Wednesday, May 3.

† TUESDAY BIBLE CLASS will not meet the next two Tuesday mornings while Pastor is on vacation.  The class will resume on Tuesday, May 16.

† SINGLE SENIOR LADIES  A group of single, senior ladies has formed at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.  They are meeting today in the fellowship hall from 1:00 – 5:00 pm.  Come join them for some fun, fellowship, and snacks.  Bring a snack to share with about 15 people.   For questions or more information, please contact Ann L.

 LWML SPRING RALLY  The Spring Rally of the Southwest Zone of Missouri LWML will be held today at First Lutheran Church in Neosho. Registration is at 2:30 pm with the Rally beginning at 3:00 pm.  The theme of the Rally is “Witness Always” and Heidi Johnson will tell of    her mission trip to Tanzania.  Special guest will be the Missouri District LWML President, Christie Steffens.  The ingathering is for Teen Challenge and suggested items to bring are white bath towels, white twin sheets, twin comforters, band aids, Neosporin, or dish cloths and towels for the kitchen.  Everyone is welcome.

† THRIVENT WORKSHOP  Thom Mehl with Thrivent Financial, will be hosting a Free Dinner and Workshop, “Will You Have Enough to Retire”. TUESDAY MORNING MEN’S BIBLE STUDY  A new Tuesday morning men’s Bible study is beginning in May.  The group will be studying  “God’s Word for Today: 2 Peter & Jude”.  They will meet for the first time on Tuesday, May 9, at 6:30 am, at Panera in Joplin.  If you have   any questions you can contact Greg Golden, (417)850-6550 or the church office, (417)358-1325

† JR CONFIRMATION CLASS will not meet next Sunday, May 7.

† VBS HELPERS  Are you interested in helping with this year’s vacation bible school?  The theme this year is “A Mighty Fortress – In Jesus, the Victory is won!”  The dates will be July 23 – July 27.  We are in need of group leaders, group helpers, station assistants, etc.  If you would like to help out this year, please let Nicole Backerman or Cindy Eaton know or you can contact the church office, 358-1325.  Please consider helping out with this worthwhile event that helps our children learn about Jesus’ love for us.

† SUNDAY SCHOOL OFFERINGS  The Sunday School & Adult Bible Class offerings for the Spring quarter are going to LCMS World Relief & Human Care to help with the relief efforts after the recent tornados in New Orleans.

† NURSERY/CRY ROOM  Should your child become distressed or distract  others during the service, a furnished nursery/cry room is located in the narthex for your use.  Please ask one of the ushers if you need directions.

† BLOOD PRESSURE CHECKS are available in the nurse’s office after the service.  You will be given a small form that can be carried in your wallet which will include medical information and a log of your blood pressure readings.

† PRAYER BEARS are in the sanctuary pews and available to be signed out (notebook in narthex by nursery) and given to anyone that needs God’s love, comfort, and peace.

† ASSISTIVE LISTENING  If you are having a hard time hearing the service, assistive listening devices are available from the ushers.  They work like a transistor radio and you can control the volume.

† VOTERS’ MEETING  The quarterly Voters’ Meeting will be held tonight at 7:00 pm.

† EASTER BREAKFAST  Thanks to all those who helped with and brought items for the Easter Breakfast and those who donated to the egg hunt!  It is wonderful to have such a generous, helpful and giving congregation.

† VBS PLANNING MEETING today after the late service.  We would love to have anyone & everyone interested in being involved in VBS this year at our planning meeting.  It would be great to have a large group involved in the planning process.

† ANNUAL FRIDAY NIGHT FAMILY CAMPOUT  The annual Friday Night Family Campout has been rescheduled for this Friday and Saturday,  April 28 – 29.  This event will be held at the “The Fishing Hole” (Dale & Lee Ann B.s’ property south of Lockwood).  Please contact Dale, with any questions. There is a map with directions and a sign-up sheet in the narthex.

† ALUMINUM CAN TABS  It’s time for GSLC to start collecting aluminum can tabs again!  Audrey G.’s Technology Student Association (TSA) team is collecting them to help Montana Cole.  Montana is a 14 year old girl from Kansas who has been fighting a brain tumor for the past 5 years.  The money from the tabs will go to help her family with all of the hospital bills.  The tabs can be placed in the container in the narthex on the table outside the nursery.  Thanks for your help with this.

† EASTER BREAKFAST  Thanks to all those who helped bring items for the Easter Breakfast!  What a wonderful way to celebrate our risen Lord on Easter!

† EASTER EGG HUNT  Once again the Board of Education (with a lot of help from our Lutheran Youth Fellowship) is sponsoring the annual   Easter Egg Hunt.  The excitement begins right after the breakfast today, so get ready for some egg hunting fun.

† LOVE OFFERING  At the Easter Breakfast the LWML will be taking up a love offering which will go to the Lutheran Youth Fellowship who will be helping with the breakfast.

† VBS PLANNING MEETING on Sunday, April 23, after the late service.  We would love to have anyone & everyone interested in being involved in VBS this year at our planning meeting.  It would be great to have a large group involved in the planning process.

† EASTER LILIES  Thanks to all who helped make our church look so  beautiful by purchasing lilies to adorn the altar!

† GRADUATES  In the May issue of the Shepherd’s Staff we want to recognize all those who are graduating or have graduated this school year from either high school, college, or trade school. Please submit a photo along with a bio to the church office by April 21. Please let us know all about your accomplishments and about your future plans.
