Announcements — March 18, 2018

† IN OUR PRAYERS  Andy S., hospitalized for an infection; Rhonda N., recovering from a fall; Judy G., Jack H., Lydia N., recovering from surgery; Lee Ann C., undergoing physical therapy at Joplin Health and Rehab; Earl G., suffering various serious health issues; Jody G., on hospice; Kathy P., suffering health issues; Sara P., undergoing treatment for cancer; Stephen Ministry and their care receivers.

† SINGING SAINTS  GSLC will be hosting the Singing Saints from Saint Paul Lutheran High School in Concordia, Missouri, on Palm Sunday, March 25.  The choir of about 50 students will perform at 7:00 pm that evening.  As the host church, we will need to provide housing for the students and chaperones for that night. We are still in need of a couple more volunteers to host students.  If you would be able to provide a place for two or more of the members of the choir, please contact the church office, 358-1325.

† SINGING SAINTS DINNER  GSLC Fellowship Committee will be providing a dinner for the Singing Saints and our congregation next Sunday at 5:00 pm.  If you will be attending the dinner, please use the sign-up sheet on the round table in the narthex so that the Fellowship Committee will know how much food to provide.    Also, we ask those joining us to bring a dessert to share for our famous dessert bar.  Please, join us for dinner, fellowship and a wonderful performance.

† EASTER EGG HUNT  The LYF will be filling the plastic eggs for the annual Sunday School Easter Egg hunt.  They are asking the congregation for donations of rolls of nickels/dimes, small prizes, or bags of individually wrapped candy.  Your donations can be placed in the container provided in the narthex or they can be dropped off in the church office.  Thanks for your help with this project!

† MEALS FOR NEW PARENTS  GSLC would like to start providing meals for families when they come home from the hospital with a new baby.  This project will be organized by Megan Mehl.  If you would be willing to help with this project, please use the sign up sheet hanging in the narthex on the bulletin board          designated Christian Education.  This will provide Megan with a list of people she can call on when members are blessed with a new baby!

† EASTER BREAKFAST SIGN UP  The Easter breakfast sign-up sheet is in the narthex on the round table.  Please take a moment to check it over and then put your name by what you are willing to bring.

† HOLY SATURDAY PRAYER VIGIL  There is a sign up sheet for our Saturday, March 31, Prayer Vigil on the narthex round table.  Please consider signing up for a 15 minute slot.  Certainly you are welcome to come in for prayer at anytime and you can stay as long as you want, but we would like to have someone here in prayer through the entire 6 hour time period.

† EASTER LILIES  If you would like to purchase one or more lilies to help adorn our sanctuary on Easter, please use the sign up sheet in the narthex.  The cost is $8.00 each.  Please pay Diana E.

† PORTALS OF PRAYER  The new Portals of Prayer for the spring are on the table by the nursery in the narthex.

† LWML SPRING QUARTERLIES are on the table by the nursery in the narthex.

† INVITATION MARCH 19  The ministry group Jews For Jesus, which seeks to share its belief that Jesus is the promised Messiah of the Jewish people, will be at Immanuel Lutheran Church for their presentation “Christ In The Passover” on Monday, March 19.  Everyone is welcome to attend – the presentation begins at 6:30 pm in the church.  Jews for Jesus has presented “Christ in the Passover” at over 38,000 churches.  It has been enthusiastically received by Christians who   appreciate learning more about the Jewish backgrounds of their faith.

† LENT began February 14, with our Ash Wednesday services.  We will once again have weekday services each Wednesday at 11:00 am and 7:00 pm throughout Lent.  Be sure and utilize these services as part of your Lenten observance.

† SHOE COLLECTION  Donya Moll has asked for help with a community project.  She is collecting shoes, any size or style, that have some life left.  There is a container in the narthex for the shoes to be collected.  Thanks for your help.

† SUNDAY SCHOOL OFFERING  The offering from both Adult Bible Class and Sunday School for the months of January and February, which totaled just over $300.00, is going to LCMS World Relief to help those affected by the Hurricane in Houston.  The offerings for the spring quarter will be going to Ronald McDonald House.  We are hoping to get enough money to purchase a couple of their “Dream BIG items”.  This could include two high chairs and a hedge trimmer.  It would take around $300 to purchase these items.  That seems like a reasonable goal for the quarter and what a great way to help out this great organization.

† BAPTISM  We rejoice with Ace Jason Michael F. at his baptism this morning.  Ace was born July 6, 2007, and is the son of  Jim F. and Amy H.  Ace’s sponsors are Karen P. and Dr. Joshua and Camie P.  We ask God to bless this family always with His love and grace.

† THE SUNDAY SCHOOL CHILDREN will be sharing songs of Jesus’ love that they have been working on during opening at Sunday School today at the beginning of the 10:45 am service.

† MOMS GROUP PLANNING GET-TOGETHER  Good Shepherd Lutheran Church Christian Education Committee has heard some interest in some type of Mom’s Mentoring Group being formed at our church.  In an effort to figure out what kind of group would be of interest and what would work best for everyone as far as timing, the Christian Education Committee will be hosting an evening for Moms!  This get-together has been scheduled for Tuesday, February 27, in the GSLC Fellowship Hall, at 6:00 pm.  Dinner and dessert will be provided and childcare will be available if you need it.  We hope by bringing everyone together a decision can be made on when, where, and what kind of group would be of interest to the moms in our congregation.

† BAKE SALE  Thanks to everyone who supported the bake sale last Sunday, either by making goodies, buying goodies, or both!  It was a big success, bringing in a total of $547.00.  How wonderful!

† FLOWER CHART, 2018  If you would like to place flowers at the altar for a special occasion or in memory of someone, please sign the flower chart hanging on the wall next to the water fountain in the hallway.  Simply write your name, phone number, and occasion with the pen provided.  Diana E. does lovely arrangements and only charges $25.00 for altar flowers.
