† BACK TO TWO SERVICES As of today we are back to our regular two services. Worship services will be at 8:15 and 10:45 am with Sunday School and Adult Bible Class at 9:30 am. Holy Communion will alternate between the two services starting with Holy Communion in the 8:15 am service today .
† BRUNCH WITH MEGAN & ELIAS This Saturday, Sept. 16, at 10:00 am, there will be a Brunch for Megan & Elias Mehl in the Fellowship Hall at the church. The brunch is being hosted by LWML and all ladies of the congregation are invited to come and enjoy some food and “visiting time” with Megan & Elias.
† NEW MARTIN LUTHER MOVIE The movie, Martin Luther: The Idea That Changed The World, is scheduled to be shown at the Joplin Northstar Stadium 14 theater on Thursday, September 28, 2017 at 7:30 pm. A minimum of 100 reservations will need to be made by September 20th in order for the screening to take place. At this point only 35 tickets have been reserved. The tickets are $9 for all audience members. This screening is being cohosted by Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Carthage and Immanuel Lutheran Church, Joplin. If you are interested in seeing this movie, please go ahead and make your reservations soon so that we will be able to take advantage of this opportunity. † JR CONFIRMATION Jr. Confirmation instruction will start in September. Jr. Confirmands and their parents are asked to attend an organizational meeting next Sunday, September 17, during the Sunday School hour in the Conference room. Luther’s Small Catechism with Explanation will be provided to each new Confirmand, but each student will need to bring their own Bible to class.
† REFORMATION CELEBRATION Immanuel Lutheran Church in Joplin is hosting an afternoon of fellowship and fun to celebrate the 500th anniversary of the Reformation. It will be a family-oriented afternoon with activities for everyone. The event will be Saturday, October 7th from 3-7. Events include bounce houses and games for the children. There will be a Martin and Kate Luther Look-a-like Contest. They will host a wiener dog race and runway show with prizes given. Later in the evening, there will be a Gospel band for a sing-a-long. They are catering an authentic German meal. There will also be a cash bar available in a separate tent. The games are free. There will be a charge for the meal and drinks. † GSLC FRIENDS is a small home Bible study group that meets once a week. Our membership is diverse and you are welcome to join us. We are currently studying “The Lutheran Difference”, a guide to how the Lutheran Church views a variety of subjects in today’s world. We meet Monday night at the home of Karen Perkins, gathering around 6:30 pm for a light dinner and/or snacks. We begin our study around 7:00 pm.
