† VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL Thanks to everyone who helped make this year’s VBS possible! It takes a lot of help to put such a special event together and we really appreciate all the hard work. A big thank you to Nicole B., Diana B., and Earl K. for all the time put in organizing, decorating, and much more! What a wonderful and enjoyable week it was learning that through JESUS, the victory is won.
† VBS PICTURES Make sure to take a look at all the fun pictures from this year’s VBS that are hung on the bulletin board in the narthex. If you see any you would like to have, please feel free to take them with you after the service.
† A HUGE THANK YOU for all the food donations, money, kitchen help and volunteer servers that helped make VBS suppers a success. Without everyone’s generous support it would not have been possible to feed all in attendance! ~ Rosann C.
† SINGLE SENIOR LADIES A group of single, senior ladies has formed at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Come join them for some fellowship, fun and snacks today from 1:00 – 4:00 pm at Ruby S.’s home in Carthage. If you have any questions or need directions, please contact Ann L. or Ruby S. Bring a snack to share.
† OFFERINGS FROM VBS & SUNDAY SCHOOL The offering from VBS, which will be combined with the summer quarter Sunday School offering, will be going to an organization called Sharing God’s Mighty Word. This organization sends free Bibles, Bible story books, and teaching materials to individuals and organizations who are struggling to connect people with the Gospel. During VBS we also collected Bible story books to donate locally to the Carthage Family Literacy Council to put in their Little Free Library locations.
† NEW MARTIN LUTHER MOVIE A Joplin screening has been booked for the new Luther movie which – as you may be aware – was produced in commemoration of the 500th anniversary of the Lutheran Reformation. (More information about this movie is accessible at LCMS.org.) This movie, Martin Luther: The Idea That Changed The World, is scheduled to be shown at the Joplin Northstar Stadium 14 theater on Thursday, September 28, 2017 at 7:30 pm. A minimum of 100 reservations will need to be made by September 20th in order for the screening to take place. The tickets are $9 for all audience members. This screening is being cohosted by Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Carthage and Immanuel Lutheran Church, Joplin. Here is a shortcut to the website that was set up to provide moviegoers with information about the movie and a mechanism to reserve tickets specifically for the Joplin screening: http://joplin.newluthermovie.com/.
† DID YOU KNOW that audio recordings of the service are made most Sundays for the sick or the shut-ins? Disks containing the Sunday service are available. † LWML will meet this Tuesday, August 1, at 6:30 pm in the Fellowship Hall, for their regular monthly meeting.

† BLOOD PRESSURE CHECKS are available in the nurse’s office after the service. You will be given a small form that can be carried in your wallet which will include medical information and a log of your blood pressure readings.
† PRAYER BEARS are in the sanctuary pews and available to be signed out (notebook in narthex by nursery) and given to anyone that needs God’s love, comfort, and peace.
ASSISTIVE LISTENING If you are having difficulty hearing the service, assistive listening devices are available from the ushers. They work like a transistor radio and you can control the volume
