† IN OUR PRAYERS H. family, at the death of Marie H.;  Mary F., home with her daughter; Kristen D., Todd H. (Pastor’s nephew) and Sandy O., recovering from surgery; Royce A. (Wynette Q.’s father)Paula B.Mary C., and Howard S. undergoing treatment for cancer.

† MARIE HERZOG  Our Lord received unto himself Marie Elizabeth Herzog on Friday, September 19, after a long illness.  She had been living in the St. Louis area close to her family.  Marie had been an active member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.  A       memorial service will be conducted at 5 pm, Saturday, Sept. 27, at Marks Mortuary in Wood River.  Graveside Services have been planned for 11 am, Friday, Nov. 28, 2014, at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Carthage.

† HOG ROAST OUTREACH EVENT  This evening, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm, is our community outreach event and fundraiser.  Come,  have a great meal and enjoy the various musical groups.  We would like to see all of our Good Shepherd folks here tonight at the church to support this wonderful event!

† LWML “WOMEN TO WOMEN” NIGHT  ALL ladies of the   congregation are invited to the annual “Women to Women” night of fellowship on Tuesday, October 7, at 6:00 pm at El Charro in         Carthage.  The theme this year is Restore-Renew-Refurbish.  Ladies are encouraged to bring an item that they have restored, renewed, or refurbished.  RSVP to Mary P. or Judy G.

† PARENTS, GOOD SHEPHERD NEEDS YOUR CHILDREN!  Our Sunday School children have been working on three songs to sing at the GSLC Community Hog Roast this evening from 5:30 – 7:30 pm.    Try and have the kids here by 5:30 pm so they will be ready to go.  We’re excited to hear those wonderful young voices praising God!

GUYS FALL FISHING RETREAT  If you are looking for a fun weekend of camping and fishing, then please join us the weekend of Oct. 24 – 26, for the annual guys fall fishing retreat and campout.  The guys will be going to Dale & LeeAnn B.’ property, which is located just north of Lockwood.  There is a large stocked pond for fishing from the bank.  Men and boys of all ages are welcome — and bring your friends!  Contact Dale with any questions.

† HOBO DINNER  Come join us in celebrating the fall at the annual Hobo Dinner on Sunday, October 19.  The fun begins at 5:30 pm.  Just bring some a’ yer own pre-cooked stew (canned is okay; yer fav’rit homemade recipe is better), or you can bring some cooked vegetables or meat to toss in.  There will be a jack-o-lantern carving contest, so bring along an uncarved pumpkin.  There will also be carnival games and treats for the kids and a prize for the best dressed hobo.  Watch for a sign-up sheet in the narthex.  We will be asking for people to help by bringing desserts, chips, crackers, or dips.  Y’all come now, ya hear!?

† LUTHERAN YOUTH FELLOWSHIP will meet at the church next Sunday evening at 5:00 pm to plan the games for the Hobo    Dinner and then go to a corn maze.

† PORTALS OF PRAYER  The new Portals of Prayer for the fall are on the table by the nursery in the narthex.

† LWML QUARTERLIES  The new Quarterlies are on the table by the nursery in the narthex.  Ladies, remember to pick one up!

† OVER 60 CENTER MEAL DELIVERY  Monday, October 13, through Friday, October 17, is Good Shepherd’s week to deliver meals for the Over-60 Center.  If you can help with this worthwhile project, please contact Betty Ellefsen, 358-6418.

† ASSISTIVE LISTENING  If you are having a hard time hearing the service, assistive listening devices are available from the ushers.  They work like a transistor radio and you can control the volume.

† BLOOD PRESSURE CHECKS are available in the nurse’s office   after the service.  You will be given a small form that can be carried in your wallet which will include medical information and a log of your blood pressure readings.

† PRAYER BEARS are in the sanctuary pews and available to be signed out (notebook in narthex by nursery) and given to anyone that needs God’s love, comfort, and peace.
