† IN OUR PRAYERS Judy G. and family, at the death of her father; Paula B.,Mary C., and Tim S., undergoing treatment for cancer.

† LUTHERAN YOUTH FELLOWSHIP (LYF) will have a short meeting at the church this evening at 6:00 pm.  Please try to attend because they will be picking a new date for the lake day and making plans!

† CHURCH COUNCIL  The Church Council will meet tonight at 7:00 pm.

† THANK YOU  I would like to thank Pastor for the comforting service, the thoughts and prayers, and those who brought food at the sudden passing of Bud.  Love you all, Ruby S. & family.

† VBS 2014  This year’s VBS theme is,Weird Animals, Where Jesus’ Love is One-of-a-Kind.   It will start Sunday, July 27, and go through Thursday, July 31, 6:00-8:00 pm, every evening.  There will be a light dinner offered each evening at 5:30.  Registration forms are on the round table.  If your child plans to attend, please fill one out and place it in the basket provided.  You can also pick up a CD with this year’s music on it.  Please take only one per family.

† VBS WORK DAY  There will be a work day this Saturday, July 26, starting at 9:00 am for anyone who wants to come and help finish up the decorations and props to make this year’s VBS really come to life.  There will also be a setup day Sunday, July 27, after Sunday School & Adult Bible Class.

† IT’S COMING!  GSLC is going whole hog!  This fall, at a date yet to be announced, GSLC will host a community outreach event featuring a hog roast and a showcase of our musical talent.  To express your interest, talk with Rob Sager or Earl Kirn.

† LUTHERAN NIGHT  Friday, August 1, is the date for this year’s Lutheran Night with the Springfield Baseball Cardinals.  Game time is 7:10 pm.  Tickets will be $7.00 each with $1.00 going to the Lutheran Children & Family Services.  There is a sign-up sheet on the round table in the narthex and Jim Garoutte will be collecting the money.

† THRIVENT WORKSHOP  Good Shepherd Lutheran Church will be the location for a Thrivent Workshop dealing with long-term care on Wed., July 23, at 6:00 pm.  Dinner will be served and it is free to attend.  The workshop will be hosted by Thomas Mehl, Financial Consultant, and presented by John Estes, Managing Partner.  Please join them to learn how to make long-term care part of your overall financial strategy and give your family the opportunity to care about you instead of for you.  There are still openings for the workshop.  We are asking for RSVP by Mon., July 21, to reserve your spot.  You do not have to be a Thrivent member to attend.  This is an educational and informational program only.  Nothing will be sold.  Contact Thom Mehl at (888)243-8225 or email beth.mehl@thrivent.com.

† PRAYER BEARS are in the sanctuary pews and available to be signed out (notebook in narthex by nursery) and given to anyone that needs God’s love, comfort, and peace.

† ASSISTIVELISTENING  If you are having a hard time hearing the service, assistive listening devices are available from the ushers.  They work like a transistor radio and you can control the volume.
