Pray it Forward

Our Prayer Bear program was the inspiration behind a project at a Lutheran School in Texas.  Karen Netherton, a teacher at the school and former Joplin resident, passed along our Prayer Bear program to the school;  they just put their own twist on the idea. They called it the Teddy Bear Chapel Challenge. The kids were challenged to raise money to purchase “Build a Bears”.
The Girl Scouts helped out by making 75 bears with the money raised.  The bears will sit in the church pews for four weeks.  They will then be given to shut-ins, a nursing home and to folks that are hospitalized. So you see, you never know when seeds are planted where they may grow…

Relay for Life Pajama Party

Good Shepherd is opening its doors to the Fellowship Hall for a community fundraiser.  All ladies (ages 10-110) are invited to bring their friends and attend a Pajama Party on April 1, from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m.  The event will benefit Carthage Relay for Life (American Cancer Society) and will include good food, giveaways, fun games and activities, pampering, crafts, line dancing, a live auction, and more!

We are excited to share the love of Christ with those who enter here in honor of those we know who have been affected by cancer.

Details are being finalized and $10.00 tickets will be available soon.  If you can help with the event, donate items, or if you are interested in attending and would like more information, please call Corinne W.

From The Evangelism Committee

You want to share your faith, but you’re just not sure what to say? Well, Christmas is a wonderful time to share your faith with others. The Evangelism Committee invites you to visit their “Christmas Outreach” table in the narthex. You will find information and ideas about sharing Jesus with others and some inexpensive gift ideas that focus on keeping Christ in Christmas. Use one of these gifts to give to someone and share Christ at the same time. Donations are accepted for the gifts.

Thanksgiving Day Meal

Not going out of town for Thanksgiving? Don’t feel like baking the turkey, along with all the fixings? Join us for dinner (12:00 noon) Thanksgiving Day in the fellowship hall. Bring along a side dish or two, a thankful heart and a big appetite. If you know of someone who will be spending the day alone, bring them along, too.
