Comfort In Sorrow

Grief support for anyone grieving the loss of someone they love

We come together for devotion and prayer, the solace of God’s Word and learning through sharing.  Together, we experience comfort and support.  Meetings are on the third Thursday of each month and are led by Pastor and  Earl Kirn.  Our next gathering will be Thursday, Feb. 19, at 5:00 pm.

Souper Bowl

Yes, the Super Bowl game isn’t until February this year, but we want to get a head start on Souper Bowl  Sunday, Feb. 1, by having the whole month of January designated, not only for filling the shelves at Crosslines with soup, but also with dried beans and rice. Bring your donations of canned soup, dried beans and rice and place them in the round container in the narthex or the shopping cart in the entry downstairs.

Thank you for your help with this worthwhile project!

LWML Meeting Highlights

Four members of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church’s LWML attended this year’s Missouri District Convention.  It was held in Kansas City, MO on June 20-22.  This year’s theme was “Carry His Light”.  Pictured from left to right: Jan G., Clarice O’Moore, Brenda K., and Judy G..

Lay Assistant

Earl Kirn is retiring from his counseling service and will be using some of his free time to help out at the church.

After discussions with the Board of Elders and Pastor, he will be helping more with the worship services as a Lay Worship Assistant, give some added leadership to selected programs of the congregation, assist in visitation and make available to the congregation his skills as a licensed counselor.

For the time being, he will be working as a volunteer, but the Board of Elders is discussing how this might become a more permanent position.

Earl will use the desk set up in the office closest to the narthex and start spending some time here at the church starting in December.

We really appreciate Earl’s willingness to give of his time and abilities in this way and are looking forward to how God will bless his expanded involvement with the congregation.
