Announcements — October 23, 2022

† IN OUR PRAYERS  Jim B., undergoing treatment for pancreatic cancer; Ruth B., diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, placed on Hospice; Maggie C., recovering from COVID; Stephen Ministry and their care receivers.

† HOBO DINNER & TRUNK OR TREAT  The Fellowship Committee will be hosting  a Trunk or Treat in conjunction with the Hobo Dinner on October 30, starting at 5:00 pm.  Please bring some soup to contribute.  There are sign-up sheets in the narthex for decorating your trunk for Trunk or Treat or for providing items for the dinner.  If you have questions please contact Donya M.

† SUNDAY SCHOOL CHRISTMAS PROGRAM  This year’s Christmas program will  be held the evening of Sunday, December 18.  The first rehearsal is scheduled for November 20.  We will start practicing songs during Sunday  School opening soon.  Parts will need to be assigned, so we would love to   know which children would like to be involved.  If you would like your children to participate please let us know as soon as possible.  You can do this by letting your child’s Sunday School teacher know, by contacting Becky Chadd (chaddb@carthagetigers.org) or you can contact the church office by phone at 358-1325 or email at goodshepherd@ecarthage.com.

† QUARTERLY VOTERS’ MEETING  The regular quarterly Voters’ Meeting will be held next Sunday right after the service.  Two important items of business     during this meeting will be the election of officers and the approval of the   budget for the 2023 church year.  Here is the slate of officers for 2023:

† TIME & TALENT SURVEY  There are Time & Talent surveys available on the round table in the narthex.  If you haven’t done so already, please take the time to fill one out.  We would like everyone to turn one in.  There is a black tray there also to collect the survey’s when completed.

† FUNERAL  The Funeral for Ellie Hansen will be held at Good Shepherd this    coming Saturday, October 22, at 1:30 pm.  There will be a visitation at 1:00 pm before the service.

† CROSSLINES OF CARTHAGE  For September and October Good Shepherd will be collecting for Crosslines of Carthage.  There is a container in the narthex.  Monetary donations can be placed in the offering plate in an envelope marked Crosslines or they can be given to the church office.

† THANK YOU to all those who helped with the outside work day yesterday at the church.  All the help was greatly appreciated.

† IN OUR PRAYERS  Ellie H., at St. Luke’s Nursing Facility; Jim B., undergoing treatment for pancreatic cancer;  Ruth B., diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, placed on Hospice; Maggie C., recovering from COVID; Stephen Ministry and their care receivers.

† LWML SUNDAY  Our Good Shepherd LWML is celebrating 80 years today on LWML Sunday.  If you haven’t had a chance to participate in the envelope   fundraiser, there are still a some envelopes that could be filled.

† WORK DAY  The Trustees have a wish list of outside items that need to be addressed.  There will be a work day on Saturday, October 8, from 8:30 am until noon to work on these items.  If you are available to help out that day any time during that window of time, please come and join us.

† THANK YOU to all those who helped with Meals on Wheels the past two weeks.  What a wonderful way to serve our community.

† FLU SHOT  Lacy Epperson will be providing flu shots after the church service on Sunday, October 9, 2022.  There is a sign up sheet in the narthex so she can get a fairly accurate number of how many shots to bring.
