Announcements — December 18, 2022

† IN OUR PRAYERS  Peggy S., recovering from foot surgery; Clarice O. recovering at home; Brian O., diagnosed with bone cancer; Jim B., undergoing treatment for pancreatic cancer; Stephen Ministry and their care receivers.

† THE SUNDAY SCHOOL CHRISTMAS PROGRAM  This year’s Christmas program,  “Christmas Traditions”, will  be held tonight at 6:00 pm.  Please join us as the children show you how our Christmas traditions point to the birth of Jesus. The students worked hard and are very excited to share the story of Jesus’ birth with their church family!  LWML is providing refreshments for everyone to enjoy following the program. 

† SPECIAL SERVICES

6:30 pm Saturday, Christmas Eve Candlelight Service with Holy Communion.

9:00 am Sunday, Christmas Day Worship Service with Holy Communion.

† TRAINS  Today from 1:00-4:00 pm, Doug & Peggy Schnelle will be hosting an open house featuring Christmas trains!  It will be at their home at 5598 County Rd. 175 in Carthage.  All kids are invited, “big kids” too. 

† MIDWEEK ADVENT SERVICES  The last midweek worship services will be this Wednesday, December 21, at 11:00 am and 7:00 pm.  Please join us!

† PORTALS OF PRAYER  The new Portals of Prayer for the winter are on the table by the nursery in the narthex.

† TREASURER UPDATE  As we approach the end to the year, offerings of $4,600 per week are needed to meet our remaining expenses.

† OFFERING ENVELOPES  The 2023 offering envelopes are on the round table in the narthex.  Please remember to discard your 2022 envelopes and use only the 2023 envelopes beginning on Sunday, January 1.  If you do not see your name and want envelopes, please contact the church office.

† TRAINS On Sunday, December 18, from 1:00-4:00 pm, Doug & Peggy Schnelle will be hosting an open house featuring Christmas trains! It will be at their home at 5598 County Rd. 175 in Carthage. All kids are invited, “big kids” too.

† MIDWEEK ADVENT SERVICES As in recent years, Good Shepherd will provide midweek worship services at 11:00 am and 7:00 pm each Wednesday during Advent. The next Advent service will be this Wednesday, December 14. Please join us!

† TREASURER UPDATE As we approach the end of the year, we need weekly contributions of $6,000 to meet our remaining expenses.

† LWML HOLIDAY PARTY  The December 6th LWML meeting will be a holiday party.  Please bring a small snack and a $5.00 gift for a gift exchange.

† TRAINS  On Sunday, December 18, from 1:00-4:00 pm, Doug & Peggy S. will be hosting an open house featuring Christmas trains!  It will be at their home at 5598 County Rd. 175 in Carthage.  All kids are invited, “big kids” too.

† ADVENT DEVOTIONALS  Christian Education purchased devotional books to share with the congregation this Advent season.  “This is My Son” devotional books are available in the Narthex on the table by the nursery.

† MIDWEEK ADVENT SERVICES  As in recent years, Good Shepherd will provide midweek worship services at 11:00 am and 7:00 pm each Wednesday during Advent.  The next Advent service will be this Wednesday, December 7.  Please join us!

† TREASURER UPDATE  The estimated expenses for the final month of the year are $24,000.  We will need weekly donations of $6,000 to cover this amount.

† POINSETTIAS  If you would like to purchase a poinsettia(s) to help adorn the sanctuary at Christmas, please use the sign-up sheet on the table in the narthex and prepay Diana Endicott.  The cost is $10.00 each.

† ADVENT DEVOTIONALS  Christian Education purchased devotional books to share with the congregation this Advent season.  “This is My Son” devotional books are available in the Narthex on the table by the nursery.  Please take   only one copy per family.
