REMEMBER IN PRAYER  Marilyn N., at St. John’s Hospital recovering from surgery; Pat S., recovering at home; Janet S., receiving treatment; Corky M., recovering from surgery and undergoing treatment for cancer; Jeanann G., Ann L., & Chuck P., undergoing treatment.

SMOKED PORK BY CAVEMAN CUISINE  Wednesday is the day to pick up your order from the B’s.  The cost is $25.00 plus tax. 

SOFTBALL  The Co-Ed Softball game is Monday at 7:30 pm.  The Men’s Softball game is Tuesday at 6:30 pm.

DULCIMER DEMONSTRATION  Dennis Norwood, Springfield, will be blessing us with a hammered and mountain dulcimer demonstration and workshop this Tuesday, August 31, at 1:30 pm. here at the church.  Mr. Norwood plays both instruments beautifully to the glory of God.  Please come to listen or to join in the workshop.  “Let us make a joyful noise unto the Lord.”

THE LWML will meet this Wednesday evening at 6:30.  Pastor will have the topic and Judy G. will be the hostess.  All ladies of the congregation are invited.

CHURCH FLOAT MEETING  There will be another church float meeting this Wednesday, Sept. 1, at 5:30 pm.  If you’re interested in helping with the plans and making of the church float to pull in the Maple Leaf Parade, please attend.  If you would like to help with some of the expenses, there is a container in the narthex for your donation. 

JR CONFIRMATION  Confirmation instruction for children in the 7th and 8th grades will begin Wednesday, September 15, at 6:30 p.m.  There will be a parent’s meeting after both worship services, Sunday, September 12, to go over materials and class schedules.    

CHURCH WORK DAY  September 11 is the day designated as a work day here at the church.  There will be painting, cleaning, trimming, cutting, along with a few other things that will need to be done.  Both the gents and the ladies are needed.  Work will begin at 8:30 am.  

RALLY DAY ROUND-UP AND CHUCK WAGON LUNCH  Special things are planned for Sunday, Sept.12, not only for the children put the entire congregation.  See the Sept. newsletter for more details. 

PRAYER BEARS are in the sanctuary pews and available to be signed out (notebook in narthex) and given to anyone that needs God’s love, comfort, and peace. 

TAPES AND CD’S OF THE SERVICE  Audio tapes and CDs of the service are available after the 8:15 am service each Sunday.  They are located in the glassed-door cabinet in the narthex.  The previous Sunday’s are also available.

BLOOD PRESSURE  The opportunity to have your blood pressure taken and recorded after each service is available in the nurse’s office located off the narthex.  You will be given a card to carry with you to record your readings.

ASSISTIVE LISTENING  If you are having a hard time hearing the service, assistive listening devices are available from the ushers.  They work like a transistor radio and you control the volume.

SMOKED PORK BY CAVEMAN CUISINE  Today is the last day to place your order.  The order sheet is in the narthex.  The cost is $25.00 each, which is for 4-5 pounds of delicious meat.

MARTIN LUTHER SCHOOL FUNDRAISER with car show, silent auction,  D. J., carnival games for kids, and concessions, will be held Friday, August 27, beginning at 5 pm. at 2616 Connecticut, Joplin.  Entry form for the car show is available in the GSLC office.

CONGRATULATIONS!  Perry & Charla S. have been blessed with the gift of a baby girl born July 31.  At birth, Jenna Macalea weighed 8 lbs., 1 oz., and was 20” long.  We ask God’s blessings on this family.

MUSIC MINISTRY PLANNING MEETING  A Music Ministry planning meeting has been scheduled for this evening at 6:30 pm.  Anyone who has an interest in sculpting the future shape of Music Ministry at GSLC is encouraged to attend this meeting and share his/her ideas.

NEW SUNDAY BIBLE STUDY  The Sunday morning Bible class has started a new study on the Gospel of Matthew lead by Pastor.  If you have been wanting to start coming to the Bible class, now is a good time to start.  The class meets downstairs in the Fellowship Hall at 9:30 with coffee and goodies to eat.  We hope you will join us.

THE OVER-50 GOOD SHEPHERDS will meet this Thursday evening at 6:00 for food, fellowship, fun, and games.

SMOKED PORK BY CAVEMAN CUISINE  We all know how good their smoked pork is!  Well, here’s your chance to order a full smoked pork butt.  Caveman Cuisine is taking orders to help raise money for the LWML’s Women’s Retreat in Sept.  There is a sign up sheet in the narthex, and orders will be taken until Aug. 22.  You will be able to pick up your order on Sept. 1.  The cost is $25.00 each, which is 4-5 lbs of meat.  UMM…UMM…GOOD!  Thanks, Chad & Nicole.

MUSIC MINISTRY PLANNING MEETING, NEXT SUNDAY, 6:30 PM  Please read the insert in this morning’s bulletin for a detailed explanation of what this meeting is all about and how it could impact our worship services, all in a very positive way.

LWML BAKE SALE  Next Sunday is your chance to purchase some delicious goodies to take home and enjoy.  The LWML is sponsoring a bake sale to help with expenses for the fall retreat.  As always, your contributions and help are very much appreciated.  Thank you.  

RECIPE FOR LIFE—WOMEN’S RETREAT, SEPT. 24-26  There is still time to reserve a spot for the retreat.  We do need to call in the room reservations and pay the deposit by Aug. 15.  If you have signed up and have not yet paid your $20.00 deposit, please get it to Mary in the church office before the 15th.  Thanks.  Scholarship monies are available, and if you would like to apply, please contact the church office.
