MIDWEEK SERVICES DURING LENT  Midweek services will be held each Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. until Holy Week.  We hope you will join us in the extra worship opportunities this Lenten season as we look forward to the joyous celebration of Easter.

WEDNESDAY EVENING SCHEDULE CHANGES  The Youth Group, Women’s Class and the Men’s Ensemble Practice will all begin at 6:00 p.m. during Lent.  The band will meet for practice at 5:00 p.m.

ANNUAL YOUTH RUMMAGE SALE  You are welcome to shop for free over at the trailer after church today (donations won’t be turned down, however).  The Youth thanks everyone who donated items and/or gave of their time to help make their sale successful.  Your support of the Youth Group is always deeply appreciated.

SUNDAY SCHOOL MEETING that was scheduled for today after the late service has been postponed until next Sunday.  All teachers and anyone interested in the promotion of our children’s Christian education through being a teacher, helper or substitute are encouraged to attend.  Pizza will be served for lunch. 

BLOOD PRESSURE  The opportunity to have your blood pressure taken and recorded after each service is available in the nurse’s office located off the narthex.  You will be given a card to carry with you to record your readings.

TAPES & CDS OF THE SERVICE  Audio tapes and CDs of the service are available after the 8:15 a.m. service each Sunday.  They are located in the glassed-door cabinet in the narthex.  The previous Sunday’s are also available.

ASSISTIVE LISTENING  If you are having a hard time hearing the service, assistive listening devices are available from the ushers.  They work like a transistor radio and you can control the volume.

HOLY BAPTISM  We rejoice with Jerry & Dixie K. today at the baptisms of their daughters, Skylar Sharon Rose, age five, and Savannah Mary-Clare, age four, during the late service.  Skylar’s sponsors are Daniel & Milia E. and Savannah’s sponsors are David & Stacy E.  May the Lord keep this family in his love and care.   

TRUSTEE MEETING  There will be a meeting today at 3:00 p.m. for all the church Trustees.

SUPER SOUP SUNDAY Thanks to all who brought food today for Crosslines. Also, the first Sunday of each month is Crosslines Canned Goods Sunday, so please remember to bring any non-perishable items on that day each month to help keep their shelves stocked. Thank you.

THE OVER-50 GOOD SHEPHERDS will be getting together this Thursday evening at 6:00.

VOTERS’ MEETING The first Voters’ Meeting of 2010 will take place this evening, beginning at 7:00.

LWML The Ladies’ Missionary Group will meet this Wednesday evening at 6:30 in the Fellowship Hall.

ATTENTION GENTLEMEN First of all, thank you to those who have served as ushers in the past and to those who have committed to serve our congregation in 2010 as ushers.  You are appreciated.  On the table in the narthex, you will find an envelope with your name on it.  Inside you will find a brief letter from head usher, Tom D., the 2010 Usher Schedule, and an updated list of Usher Duties.  Please take the time to read these, and get back with Tom if you have any questions or need to change the month you are scheduled to usher.  Again, thank you!

SUPER SOUP SUNDAY Let’s make next Sunday a Super Soup Sunday by donating cans of soup to Crosslines of Carthage to be distributed to those in need in our community.  Please put your donations in the large Crosslines container found in the narthex or in the shopping cart in the entry way to the Fellowship Hall.  Also, the first Sunday of each month is Crosslines Canned Goods Sunday, so please remember to bring any non-perishable items on that day each month to help keep their shelves stocked.  Thank you.

FOR YOUR USE Next to the double doors at the front entrance to the narthex is a stand with a dispenser containing Purell hand sanitizer.  Please use freely, but be sure to monitor its use by your children.  Thank you.

HAITI RELIEF, HOW CAN YOU HELP? Pray.  Please pray for those in harm’s way, who have lost loved ones, homes and livelihoods.  Pray the response efforts of the LCMS World Relief touches lives with God’s hope and mercy.  Also give.  Donations are urgently needed.  Your donation may be placed in the collection plate (designated Haiti relief), and we will send it on to LCMS World Relief and Human Care to aid in the response efforts in Haiti.

LADIES The Lutheran Women’s Quarterly is available on the table in the narthex.  Please pick up your copy.

THEOLOGICAL WORKSHOP Grace Lutheran Church in Lamar is having a Theological workshop Saturday, Feb. 6 and Sunday, Feb. 7, lead by the Rev. Dr. Peter Scaer, a Seminary professor, on the topic of the “Sacramental Theology of the Gospel of Mark and the Divine Service.”  The sessions on Saturday are from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon and from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.  The sessions on Sunday are from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.  We are invited.
