LWML SUNDAY Today is LWML Sunday when we remember the work of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. We thank God for their dedication to the work of going into all the world with the Gospel message. Mites for Missions…we invite you to take part in this wonderful way to help with LWML mission funding. There are mite boxes available for you to use, please help yourself.

THE BOARD OF EDUCATION will meet at noon today. Lunch will be served. You are welcome to attend.

THE YOUTH GROUP meets this evening at 6:30 p.m. in the Youth room in the church basement. Plan to attend.

CHURCH COUNCIL MEETING will be held this evening at 7:00 p.m. All elected officers and Board chairman are on the church council.

PASTORAL CONFERENCE Pastor will be attending the Western Missouri Pastoral Conference at Concordia, Missouri, October 8 and 9.

SOFTBALL The co-ed team will play their last game of the season Monday evening at 6:30.

WOMEN TO WOMEN The LWML sponsored Women to Women Night Out will be this Tuesday evening at 6:30 p.m. at El Charro’s Mexican Restaurant, Carthage. The theme is Scarf it Up so bring or wear your favorite scarf. Scarves are a very popular fashion trend right now…join us and maybe we can show you a new idea or two on how to wear them. You don’t have to be a member of the LWML to enjoy this evening out with friends.

FLU SHOTS FOR ADULTS AND CHILDREN On Oct. 14, Teri K., with McCune Brooks Hospital, will be offering the flu vaccine (shot or mist) for both adults and children. The cost for the shot is $15.00 and the mist is $22.00 for either adult or child. There will be no charge if you have Medicare, but you must have your card and everyone will need to show identification.

DOLLARS FOR MISSIONS The LWML thanks Pat Schultz, a former GSLC member, who embroidered a queen size quilt and donated it to us to raise money for our mission work. Thanks to Karen Moll who also helped with it and had it hand quilted. The quilt is on display downstairs in the fellowship hall. Your name along with a dollar donation will give you one (ten with a $5.00 donation) possibility of owning this beautiful quilt.

CAMPING & FISHING RETREAT FOR MEN & BOYS The dates for this year’s camping and fishing weekend are Oct. 12-14. It will be held again on the Dale Beshears property south of Lockwood. Contact Dale, 548-0079, if you have any questions. There is a sign up sheet ion the card table n the narthex if you are interested, and be sure to check out some of the pictures from last year’s good time!

IDENTITY THEFT WORKSHOP The Thrivent Financial chapter will be hosting an Identity Theft Workshop at 6:30 p.m. on October 16 at Faith Lutheran Church, Carthage. There is no charge for the workshop and a door prize will be given away. You are invited to attend.

CD’S AND TAPES OF THE SERVICE Audio tapes and CD’s of the service are available after the service each Sunday. They are located in the glassed-door cabinet in the narthex.

ASSISTIVE LISTENING If you are having a hard time hearing the service, assistive listening devices are available from the ushers. They work like a transistor radio and you can control the volume.

THROUGH THE BIBLE IN A YEAR The program to read through the Bible in a year starts tomorrow with the Gospel of Matthew. If you would like to join in this adventure, there is a daily reading schedule on the round table in the narthex. The schedule will also be printed in the bulletin each week and located by the date on the calendar in the newsletter each month. The children can start with Matthew in their Action Bible tomorrow as well.

BABY BOY Timmy R. and Morgan are proud parents of a son, Brayten Glen. He was born September 24 and weighed seven pounds and six ounces. Grandparents are Kathy and Terry P. and the Great- grandmother is Katherine R.. We ask God’s blessings on them.

MODERN MUSIC DISCUSSION This evening at 7:00 p.m. the Board of Elders would like to meet with those interested in having more popular music as part of our worship music. They have been discussing this possibility and would like to have further input from the members of the congregation.

THROUGH THE BIBLE IN A YEAR In the narthex are sign up sheets for the two Bibles that can be used for reading through the Bible in a year starting the 1st of October. One includes a devotion for each day’s reading as well as “insight” information about Biblical times. Its cost is $17.00. The other choice is a child’s version, so they too can join in reading through the Bible. Its cost is $20.00. For those using their own Bibles there is a daily reading guide available on the narthex round table.

SUNDAY SCHOOL RALLY DAY, A BIG TIME UNDER THE BIG TOP OF GOD’S LOVE Thank you to everyone who helped make last Sunday, Rally Day, such a big success!

YOUTH GROUP CONGREGATIONAL COOKOUT The Youth Group would like to say a big thank you to the congregation for everyone’s donations and support last Sunday at the cookout. The proceeds will benefit the Youth Group on their trip to Texas next summer for the National Youth Gathering. Again, thanks to everyone who participated in this fundraiser! Your donations are greatly appreciated!

NEW CLASSES The men’s study meets in the conference room off the narthex. The ladies meet in the office next to the main entry door.

CONSTITUTION WEEK September 17-23, commemorates the signing of the Constitution of the United States. Our constitution has endured longer than any other constitution in the world and has been used by many other countries as a model for drafting their own constitutions. Fly your flag with pride!

PARENTING FAMILIES: FROM ME TO WE This newly offered study, produced by The Lutheran Hour Ministries, is being led by Earl Kirn. It’s not too late to join the group. The class meets Wednesday evenings at 6:30.
