† IN OUR PRAYERS  Clarence H., recovering after a collapsed lung;Mary C., Mike D., and Tim S., undergoing treatment for  cancer.

† JR CONFIRMATION  Five of our young folks will publicly confess their faith this morning through the Rite of Confirmation during the late service.     They are:

Garrett William B., son of Jeff and Diane B.

Brooke Michelle G., daughter of Greg and Denise G.

Daniel Grammer H., son of Luke and Walli H.

Ethan Daniel Josiah N., son of John and Rhonda N.

Kimberly Rose S., daughter of Rob and Jennifer S.

We thank God for them and ask Him to bless their public confession to His glory.

† GUEST SPEAKER  The Rev. Dr. Kevin G. is our guest speaker this morning for both services.  He will also lead the 9:30 Bible Class.  Dr. G. is the son of Jim & Judy G. and uncle to confirmand Brooke G.  He is the pastor of Village Lutheran Church, Ladue, MO and the Second Vice President of the Missouri District.  We are glad to have him and his family here with us for this special day.

† GUEST LECTORS   Luther and Gloria D., the maternal grandparents of Ethan N., are our guest lectors this morning.  Luther is a DCE and Gloria is a Deaconess.  Both are retired and living in Eureka, MO.  We are glad to have them here for this special service.

† FAMILY CAMPOUT  Mark your calendars, this year’s annual “family  campout” has been scheduled for May 30-31 at Dale & Lee Ann B.’ property south of Lockwood.  There is information and a sign up sheet on the round table in the narthex.

† SUMMER WORSHIP  Starting next Sunday, June 1, we will have one     worship service on Sunday and it will begin at 9:00 am.  Sunday School and    Bible Class will be at 10:30 am.

† GEARING UP FOR VBS  This year’s Vacation Bible School, Weird Animals, will run from July 27-31.  Christian Education would like to get shirts for all the children attending and all the adults volunteering this year.  There is an order form on the round table in the narthex where you can designate your size if you plan on attending.  Also, be looking for information coming soon about the VBS kick-off event scheduled for Sunday, July 13.

† THE EARLY BIRD GETS THE WORD  Lee Ann B. would like to offer a Bible study during the summer months when we have one service.  The topic of this study would come from the Lutheran Hour resources and would deal with defending your faith.  The class could be held from 8:00 am – 8:45 am on Sunday mornings before the 9:00 am service or during the 10:30 am Bible class time.  Lee Ann would like to find out how much interest there would be for this study, so if you have an interest or if you have any questions, please contact Lee Ann.

† BIBLE STUDIES  The Wednesday and Thursday morning Bible studies will resume this Wednesday & Thursday, May 28 & 29.

NURSERY ATTENDANT  We are in need of a Nursery Attendant for the 10:45 worship service on Sunday mornings.  The Attendant must be 18 years or older, be able to lift children, must pass a background check, care for the children in the nursery starting at 10:15 a.m. on Sunday mornings, keep the Nursery clean and sanitized, and maintain appropriate and safe toys.  The position pays $20.00 per Sunday.  You may pick up a complete position description in the church office.  If you are interested, please leave a brief resume with the church office.  Please do

† GUEST PASTOR  It is wonderful to have Pastor Asmus and his wife, Lorraine, here this Sunday.  Thank you, Pastor Asmus, for handling the services and Bible Class while Pastor Schnackenberg is away.

† ARMED FORCES SUNDAY  The Lutheran Church-Missouri    Synod has designated this Sunday as Armed Forces Sunday.  There is a flyer in this morning’s bulletin with information and a way to contribute to help strengthen the men and women of our military.

† GERMANY TRIP  Pastor & Gerry are in Germany this week with a group from Good Shepherd.  They will be returning Saturday, May 24.

† FAMILY CAMPOUT  Mark your calendars, this year’s annual “family campout” has been scheduled for May 30-31 at Dale & Lee Ann Beshears’ property south of Lockwood.  There is information and a sign up sheet on the round table in the narthex.

† GERMANY TRIP  Tomorrow Pastor & Gerry will be traveling to Germany with a group from Good Shepherd.  They will be returning Saturday, May 24.  Pastor Gary Asmus will be the guest pastor on Sunday, May 18, and he will also be leading the 9:30 Bible Class.

† TORNADO RELIEF  We received a message from Missouri District LCMS offering a way to help fund some of the tornado relief.  Those who wish to provide financial support for the relief effort may send their contributions to the Mid-South District Tornado Relief Fund, 1675 Wynne Road, Cordova, TN 38016.

† ADDRESS CHANGE  Dorothy F. is now living with her granddaughter in Texas.  Contact the church office for Dorothy’s new address.

† SHEPHERD’S OWN SINGING TODAY  The Shepherd’s Own will be singing for the Musical Devotees this afternoon at 3:00 at Grace Episcopal Church (820 Howard, Carthage, MO).  We wanted to make the congregation aware of this wonderful opportunity to enjoy and support our men’s singing ensemble.

† LUTHERAN YOUTH FELLOWSHIP (LYF)  The LYF will meet here at the church today at 6:00 pm.

† VOTERS’ MEETING  There will be a voters’ meeting this evening at 7:00.

† THE ELDERS’ MEETING will be this Monday at 7:00 pm.

† LWML  This month’s LWML meeting will be held on Tuesday,  May 6, at 6:30 pm.  All ladies of the congregation are encouraged to be a part of this church mission group.

† OVER-50 GOOD SHEPHERDS meet this Thursday at 6:00 for food, fellowship and games.  You are welcome to join this informal group for an evening of fun and laughter.

† THE CHRISTIAN EDUCATION APPRECIATION DINNER last Sunday was wonderful and we want to thank everyone who helped make it such a success.  Again, we wish to express our gratitude to everyone who has helped in the education of our young people.  You are indeed appreciated.

† JR CONFIRMATION AND MIDWEEK CLASSES will start their summer break just a little bit early this year because Pastor will be heading to Germany.  This Wednesday will be the last time these classes will meet until next school year.  Because this is the Jr Confirmands’ last session, they will be having their final review.  The review is open to anyone who would like to attend.

† LWML SPRING ZONE RALLY istoday at Grace, Aurora.  Ladies you are invited to attend.  We will be leaving the church at 1:45 pm if you would like to car pool.  Our thanks to all those who donated baby items for the rally in-gathering.  The donated items will be taken this afternoon to the rally and then be given to the Pregnancy Resource Center.

† NEW BIBLE STUDY GROUP   There is a new Scripture Study Group meeting on Wednesday mornings at 10:30.  It is focused on the issues that go along with getting older.  Earl Kirn is leading this study and encourages anyone interested in this topic to come and join the group.
