† IN OUR PRAYERS  Raymond S., rehabbing after a fall; Ruth H., Letitia L., Carol L., recovering at home; Paula B., April K., Sara P., Sara T. undergoing treatment for cancer.

† WEDNESDAY MORNING SCRIPTURE STUDY will start a new series on forgiveness this Wednesday morning at 10:30 am.  It will cover how God forgives us, how we forgive others, and how we forgive ourselves.  Everyone is welcome to come and join them to discuss God’s word.

† CONGRATULATIONS  We rejoice with Adam and Sara T. at the birth of their baby girl, Landry.  She was born June 25, in Joplin, MO.

† CONGRATULATIONS to Cheryl M. and Chris G. who were united in marriage last Sunday, here at Good Shepherd.  We rejoice with them and pray for God’s blessings as they begin their life together as husband and wife.  Cheryl is the daughter of Glenn & Karen M.

† LYF FIREWORKS STAND  Good Shepherd’s Youth Group will be  running a fireworks stand at 1200 Briarbrook, across from Casey’s, in Carl Junction, as a fundraiser for the 2016 National Youth Gathering.  It will be open July 1 through July 4.  There are flyers with coupons on the round table in the narthex.  Please, take a flyer for yourself and take some to give to friends who may be interested.  Come purchase all your fireworks here and help support our LYF!

† VBS REGISTRATION  Vacation Bible School will be held July 26 – 30, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm, with a light dinner at 5:30 pm each evening.  There are registration forms on the round table in the narthex.  Make sure to get registered soon, both workers and participants, because Nicole needs t-shirt sizes so she can order them.  Also, there is a sign up sheet for food donations that are used to provided dinner each evening.

† DIAPER SHOWER FOR THE T.’s  Sunday School has decided to host a diaper shower to help out the T. family with one of the expenses that goes along with having a new baby.  The entire congregation is encouraged to participate.  Please bring packages of disposable diapers, any size, and place them in the narthex until July 5.  After that weekend the diapers will be delivered to the T’s.

† TAKE ME OUT TO THE BALLGAME  There are two opportunities coming up this summer to see some baseball and hear The Shepherd’s Own!  On Sat., Aug. 1, the Shepherd’s Own will be singing the National Anthem at an Arkansas Naturals’ ballgame and on Fri., Aug. 7, they will be singing the National Anthem at Lutheran Night at the ballpark for a Springfield Cardinals’ game.  There are sign-up sheets on the information desk in the narthex for  discounted tickets and deadlines for when the ticket money is due.  Please, watch for your July newsletter for more info.  Contact Jim G. if you have questions.

† SUMMER WORSHIP  For the summer months, we are having one   worship service on Sunday and it begins at 9:00 am.  Sunday School and   Bible class are at 10:30 am.

† INTENTIONAL INTERIM  Pastor Roger Mackie has accepted the call to be Good Shepherd’s Intentional Interim Pastor.  His installation date is set for July 26.

† WEDDING  Cheryl M. and Chris G. invite you to join them at their wedding to be held here at Good Shepherd this afternoon, June 21, 2015, at 2:14 in the afternoon.  A reception will follow in the fellowship hall.  Yes, 2:14 pm is the correct time.

† SUMMER WORSHIP  For the summer months, we are having one   worship service on Sunday and it begins at 9:00 am.  Sunday School and ible class are at 10:30 am.

† CHOIR  A special choir, directed by Sue S., is meeting for the  summer.  We would like to have as many voices as possible.  Practices are on Tuesday evenings at 6:30 pm.  For questions, please contact Sue S. or Linda D.

† MEAL DELIVERY  This week is our week to deliver meals for the   Over-60 Center.  If you can help with this worthwhile project, please contact Betty Ellefsen, 358-6418.

† PASTOR’S CLASS  If anyone is interested in attending a class with   Pastor to learn more about the Lutheran Church and it’s teachings, please  contact Pastor Schnackenberg.

† MO DISTRICT CONVENTION  Pastor and Earl Kirn will be attending the MO District Convention in Springfield, MO, this week, Sunday through Tuesday.  They are our voting delegates.

† STEPHEN MINISTRY NEWS  Earl Kirn has recently been trained as a Stephen Ministry leader.  He joins Janet C. who was previously  trained as a leader.  They both are capable and willing to teach and train additional Stephen Ministers.  Tentatively, we are planning a class starting   in the fall.  Feel free to ask questions at any time of any of our current Board members, Earl Kirn, Janet C., Clarice O, Brenda D., and Curt S.

† SUMMER WORSHIP  Starting today, for the summer months, we will have one worship service on Sunday and it will begin at 9:00 am.  Sunday School and Bible class will be at 10:30 am.

† INTENTIONAL INTERIM  Pastor Roger Mackie has accepted the call to be Good Shepherd’s Intentional Interim Pastor.  His installation date is set for July 26.

† LWML BRUNCH IN THE PARK  All ladies of the congregation are  invited to join the LWML ladies for their Brunch in the Park, this Saturday, June 13, beginning at 10:00 am.  It will be held in the Villages of Rollin’s Creek Clubhouse.  The neighborhood is just off of Fairview Avenue before you head into the country.  This fun and yummy event will take the place of the regular Tuesday evening meeting for the month of June.  Please RSVP by signing up in the Narthex!

† BAKED POTATO DINNER  The Lutheran Youth Fellowship (LYF) would like to thank everyone who supported this fundraising event.  All the generous donations were greatly appreciated!  Thank you for supporting our National Youth Gathering fundraising efforts!

† STEPHEN MINISTRY NEWS  Earl Kirn has recently been trained as    a Stephen Ministry leader.  He joins Janet Chambers who was previously  trained as a leader.  They both are capable and willing to teach and train    additional Stephen Ministers.  Tentatively, we are planning a class starting   in the fall.  After the service today, several members of the recently created Stephen Minister Board will be available in the conference room to provide additional information and to answer questions about becoming a Stephen Minister.  We encourage anyone interested in this ministry to stop in and learn more about this distinctively Christian caregiving Ministry.  Feel free to ask questions at any time of any of our current Board members, Earl K., Janet C., Clarice O., Brenda D., and Curt S.

† SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHER & VBS MEETING on Sunday, June 14, right after Sunday School.  Anyone interested in helping with VBS or Sunday School is encouraged to attend.

† THRIVENT MEETING  Our next Thrivent Chapter meeting will be Monday, June 8, at 6:30 pm, at First Lutheran Church in Neosho.  We will be discussing wrapping up the operation of the Chapter.  This will be our last Chapter meeting.  On July 1, the Chapter system will transition to the Thrivent Member Network.  Everyone is welcome to attend.
