Announcements — September 20, 2015

† IN OUR PRAYERS  The family of Ron and Anne T., at the death of Ron’s mother Lois; Ruth H., Jack H., Letitia L., Carol L., recovering at home; Paula B., April K., Sara P., Sara T., undergoing treatment for cancer.

† GSLC FALL HOG ROAST AND MUSIC FESTIVAL is next Sunday, September 27, from 5:00 – 7:00 pm.  There is a sign up sheet on the round table in the  narthex of specific items that are needed.  There are still several blank spots, so please stop and take a look at the list and see if you can help out.

† THE SUNDAY SCHOOL CHILDREN will be singing a few songs again at this year’s Hog Roast.  We will be working on them in opening during the Sunday School hour.  The children did a wonderful job last year and we are looking forward to hearing them again this year.  Please encourage your children to get excited about this fun opportunity to spread God’s word!

† THE MEN’S CAMPOUT AND RETREAT is being planned for October 23 – 25 at Dale’s Fish’n Hole.  Mark the date on your calendar.  More information will be provided later.

† JR CONFIRMATION instruction will be held on Sunday afternoons at 1:00 pm in the conference room.  Luther’s Small Catechism with Explanation will be provided to each new Confirmand, but each student will need to bring their own Bible to class.

† NEW PROJECT  Karen Lybeck and Judy Golden would like to say thanks   to everyone who has donated fabric to them for the heart project for  Freeman NICU.  The congregation has been so generous!  They have plenty of flannel to keep them busy for awhile and will let you know when they are ready for donations again.

† STEPHEN MINISTRY TRAINING begins tomorrow and will meet on Mondays from 6:00 – 8:30 pm for 50 hours of instruction.  You can still get involved in this marvelous opportunity.  Please see Earl K., Janet C., or Curt S.

† PORTALS OF PRAYER  You will find the newest edition of the Portals of Prayer on the table by the nursery in the narthex.

† LWML QUARTERLIES  The new fall quarterlies are on the table by the nursery in the narthex.  Please take one if you haven’t already received yours.

† ASSISTIVE LISTENING  If you are having a hard time hearing the service, assistive listening devices are available from the ushers.  They work like a transistor radio and you can control the volume.

† BLOOD PRESSURE CHECKS are available in the nurse’s office after the  service.  You will be given a small form that can be carried in your wallet which will include medical information and a log of your blood pressure readings.

† PRAYER BEARS are in the sanctuary pews and available to be signed out (notebook in narthex by nursery) and given to anyone that needs God’s love, comfort, and peace.

† NURSERY/CRY ROOM  Should your child become distressed or distract others during the service, a furnished nursery/cry room is located in the narthex for your use.  Please ask one of the ushers if you need directions.

† THE SHEPHERD’S OWN MEN’S ENSEMBLE will resume weekly practices  on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 – 7:30 pm beginning this week.

† JR CONFIRMATION instruction will start in September.  Jr. Confirmands and their parents are asked to attend an organizational meeting today at 1:00 pm in the conference room.  Luther’s Small Catechism with Explanation will be provided to each new Confirmand, but each student will need to bring their own Bible to class.

† NEW PROJECT  Karen L. and Judy G. have started a new project on behalf of Good Shepherd.  They are sewing fabric hearts for Freeman NICU.  The heart is worn against the mother’s skin so that the fabric might absorb the scent of the mother.  The heart is then placed with the baby in the isolette so the mother is always with her child.  If anyone has flannel in baby prints or in plain pastel colors that they are willing to share, please give it to Karen or Judy.

Announcements — September 6, 2015

† BACK TO TWO SERVICES  Today we are back to our regular two services.  Worship services are at 8:15 and 10:45 am with Sunday School and Adult Bible Class at 9:30 am.  Holy Communion will alternate between the two services starting with the 10:45 service today.

† SUNDAY SCHOOL RALLY DAY  Thanks to all those who helped with the Noah’s Ark Rally Day last Sunday.  The Sunday school students had a wonderful time enjoying the various water activities, especially the dunking booth and the large slip and slide!  We tried to make sure to send them home clean both inside and out!

BACK TO TWO SERVICES Next Sunday, September 6, we will return to our regular two services. Worship services will be at 8:15 and 10:45 am with Sunday School and Adult Bible Class at 9:30 am.

TODAY IS SUNDAY SCHOOL RALLY DAY There will be a kick-off event and special activities during Sunday School. The theme for Rally Day is Noah’s Ark so join us for some fun water games and food at the carnival which will happen right after the Sunday School hour, around 11:30 am. A big THANK YOU to everyone who provided cookies for this fun event!

LWML will meet this Tuesday at 6:30 pm, in the Fellowship Hall.
