† IN OUR PRAYERS  Kathy P., suffering health issues; Ruth H., at Mercy in Joplin; Jack H., Letitia L., Carol L., recovering at home; Paula B., April K., Sara P., Sara T., undergoing treatment for cancer.

† THE MEN’S CAMPOUT AND RETREAT starts this Friday, October 23 – 25 at Dale’s Fish’n Hole.  There is a map with more information available on the round table in the narthex.  Please add your name to the provided sign up sheet if you plan to attend.

† HOBO DINNER  Sunday, November 1 at 5:30 pm, Good Shepherd will be having the annual Hobo Dinner.  There is a sign-up sheet on the round   table in the narthex both to let us know if you plan on attending and also   if you’d like to help by donating a food item.  Of course, everyone is  encouraged to bring stew, meat, or vegetables to add to the large pot of stew that will be cooking over the fire that evening.  There will be carnival type games and treats for the children and a hay ride. 

† HELP NEEDED AT CROSSLINES  Good Shepherd has a group of people who volunteer their time at Crosslines the third Friday of every month.  They are in need of at least one more person to help them during this time.  If you would be interested in helping, please contact Nan B. or Janet C.

† LYF FELLOWSHIP/FUNDRAISING EVENT  The Lutheran Youth Fellowship will be hosting a Game Gathering event on Sunday, November 8 at 3:00 pm in the Fellowship Hall.  This will be a fun afternoon of Bingo and prizes put on by the members of our LYF.  Everyone is encouraged to come, bring a friend and enjoy some fun while supporting our youth for the National Gathering in 2016!  There will be some concession type food available    during the time and there will be door prizes and Bingo prizes including gift cards to various restaurants and other locations.  (The youth think the best one is the $15 Starbucks card.)  Hope to see everyone here!

† MEAL DELIVERY  Thanks to everyone who helped deliver meals last week!  It is wonderful to have members of our congregation out helping    others in our community!

† PRAYER BEARS are in the sanctuary pews and available to be signed out (notebook in narthex by nursery) and given to anyone that needs God’s love, comfort, and peace.

† ASSISTIVE LISTENING  If you are having a hard time hearing the service, assistive listening devices are available from the ushers.  They work like a transistor radio and you can control the volume.

† BLOOD PRESSURE CHECKS are available in the nurse’s office after the  service.  You will be given a small form that can be carried in your wallet which will include medical information and a log of your blood pressure readings.

NURSERY/CRY ROOM  Should your child become distressed or distract others during the service, a furnished nursery/cry room is located in the narthex for your use.  Please ask one of the ushers if you need directions

† TUESDAY MORNING BIBLE CLASS will not meet this Tuesday because Pastor Mackie will be attending a Pastors’ Conference October 12 & 13.  Class will resume next Tuesday, October 20.

† OKTOBERFEST-SARA T. BENEFIT  St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Coffeyville, KS will be having a benefit for Sara T.’s fight against cancer today, from 11:45 am – 1:30 pm.  A flyer with information about the event is on the round table in the narthex.

† HELP NEEDED AT CROSSLINES  Good Shepherd has a group of people who volunteer their time at Crosslines the third Friday of every month.  They are in need of at least one more person to help them during this time.  If you would be interested in helping, please contact Nan B. or Janet C.

† LUTHERAN YOUTH FELLOWSHIP (LYF) will meet today at the church at 5:30 pm to plan games for the Hobo Dinner and to discuss the next fundraising event.  The group will be enjoying s’mores by the fire while meeting!

† NURSERY ATTENDANT  We are in need of a Nursery Attendant for the 10:45 worship service on Sunday mornings.  You may pick up a complete position description in the church office.  If you are interested, please   contact the church office.

† MEAL DELIVERY  Tomorrow, October 12, through Friday, October 16, is Good Shepherd’s week to deliver meals for the Over-60 Center.  If you can help with this worthwhile project, please contact Betty E.

† GSLC FALL HOG ROAST AND MUSIC FESTIVAL  Thanks to all those who helped with the 2nd annual GSLC Hog Roast.  It was a beautiful evening with great food, music, and fellowship.  It took many hands and we appreciate all the work it took to put together such an enjoyable evening.

† LADIES NIGHT OUT – I AM MADE OF CLAY  Do you enjoy seeing a potter throw clay on a wheel and then watch as the potter’s hands transform a pile of mud into something useful?  If the answer is yes, then you need to join us at the annual LWML event,  Ladies Night Out.  This year’s theme is based on Isaiah 64:8.  …We are the clay, you are the potter, we are all the work of your hand.  Our guest potter, Christina Lorenzen, from Made of Clay Pottery, will share her skills in a demonstration.  Date: Tuesday, Oct, 6. Time: 6:00 pm. Where: Royal Delights Café & Bakery (Precious Moments).  The cost of the meal, including gratuity, is $10.00.  Please RSVP by using the sign-up sheet in the narthex or by calling Mary P., or Judy G., by Sunday evening, Oct. 4.

† GSLC FALL HOG ROAST AND MUSIC FESTIVAL is today from 5:00 – 7:00 pm.  Come and join us for some great food, wonderful music, and fun fellowship!

† THE SUNDAY SCHOOL CHILDREN will be singing a couple simple songs this evening at the Hog Roast.  The children did a wonderful job last year and we are looking forward to hearing them again this year.  Please encourage your children to get excited about this fun opportunity to spread God’s word!

† NEW PROJECT  Karen Lybeck and Judy Golden would like to say thanks   to everyone who has donated fabric to them for the heart project for  Freeman NICU.  The congregation has been so generous!  They have plenty of flannel to keep them busy for awhile and will let you know when they are ready for donations again.

† DISTRICT NOTES  On Monday, September 21, 2015 the Southwest Missouri Circuit of the Missouri District met at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Lockwood, MO to select delegates to the 65th Convention of the Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod to be held in Milwaukee July 9-14, 2016.  Rev. Richard Cody of St Johns, Monett, MO was selected as the pastoral delegate with Mr. Joe Rupp of St John, Purdy, MO as lay delegate. Additionally, the forum elected alternate delegates Rev. Joel Meyer of Zion, Rockville (Prairie City), MO and Ms. Heidi Johnson of Immanuel Lockwood MO.  Please keep these convention delegates in your prayers.

† LWML QUARTERLIES  The new fall quarterlies are on the table by the nursery in the narthex.  Please take one if you haven’t already received yours.
