† IN OUR PRAYERS Jody G., Audrey M., Janice Hammer’s mother, in extended care; Carol L., recovering at home; Ruth H. undergoing rehab at Mt. Vernon Care Place; Paula B.,April K,  undergoing treatment for cancer.

† SOUPER BOWL SUNDAY  Through the month of January we have been collecting canned soup, dried beans and rice to help fill the shelves at Crosslines of Carthage.  Next Sunday is the Super Bowl, or Souper Bowl as we’ve been calling it.  So if you haven’t had a chance to participate yet, please bring your donations and place them in the round container in the narthex or the shopping cart in the entry downstairs.  Let’s finish strong and make this our best donation yet!

† LWML BAKE SALE  It’s time for the 3rd annual LWML Valentines Bake Sale.  It will be held between services and after the late service on Sunday, February 8.  All are welcome to donate a baked good for the table.  Come prepared that Sunday for some delicious goodies!

† CALENDAR BLUNDER  On the calendar in the January Newsletter, the communion Sunday schedule is opposite.  There will be communion in late service today.

† SUNDAY SCHOOL STAFF & TEACHERS’ MEETING  Today   there will be a Sunday School staff & teachers’ meeting after the late     service.  Sara Thomasson, Director of Christian Education, would like those involved in Sunday School to get together and let her know how things are going and start planning for this year.  A light lunch will be   provided!

† VOTERS’ MEETING  There will be a Voters’ Meeting this evening at 7:00 pm.  Along with other business, there will be a vote on the Elders’ recommendation to hire an Intentional Interim Pastor when Pastor Schnackenberg retires.  All members, 18 years of age and older, are       eligible to be a part of the voters’ assembly.

† USHER SCHEDULE  The 2015 usher schedules are on the round table in the narthex.  If you have agreed to be an usher this year, make sure to look for yours in the box.  Thanks for your service to Good Shepherd.

† LADIES’ NIGHT OUT DINNER  Mark your calendars!  This year’s Ladies’ Night Out Dinner has been scheduled for Sunday, February 15, at 5:00 pm.  Along with dinner, served by the men, there will be entertainment provided by the Garms Family, a traveling gospel singing group.  Watch for more information in the February Newsletter.

† LYF ICE SKATING  The Lutheran Youth Fellowship is planning to go ice skating in Springfield next Sunday.  All the details have not been worked out yet; there will be more information to come.

† 2014 CONTRIBUTION STATEMENTS are ready for you to pick up.  They are on the round table in the narthex.

† ASSISTIVE LISTENING  If you are having a hard time hearing the service, assistive listening devices are available from the ushers.  They work like a transistor radio and you can control the volume.

† BLOOD PRESSURE CHECKS are available in the nurse’s office   after the service.  You will be given a small form that can be carried in your wallet which will include medical information and a log of your blood pressure readings.

† PRAYER BEARS are in the sanctuary pews and available to be signed out (notebook in narthex by nursery) and given to anyone that needs God’s love, comfort, and peace.

Vernon Care Place; Karen L.,  recovering from surgery; Paula B.,undergoing treatment for cancer.

† IMMANUEL LUTHERAN BELL CHOIR  A big thank you to Immanuel Lutheran’s Bell Choir, who will be playing for us in both services today.  Such a wonderful addition to our service this morning!

† GRIEF SUPPORT  Thursday, January 22, at 5:00 pm, there will be a time together for prayer and support for anyone who is grieving the loss of someone they have loved.  It will be led by Pastor and Earl Kirn.

† LUTHERAN WITNESS SUBSCRIPTIONS  It’s about your faith, your church, your world.  Subscription cost is $15.96.  A sign up sheet is in the narthex and you can pay by simply writing a check to Good Shepherd and putting Lutheran Witness in the memo line.

† FLOWER CHART  There are several empty spots coming up on the flower chart. If you would like to place flowers at the altar for a special occasion or in memory of someone, please sign the flower chart hanging on the wall next to the water fountain in the hallway.  Simply write your name, phone number, and     occasion with the pen provided.

† OFFERING ENVELOPES  The 2015 offering envelopes are on the table in the narthex.  Please remember to discard your 2014 envelopes and use only the 2015 envelopes.  If you do not see your name and want envelopes, please    contact the church office.  Likewise, if you prefer not to use them and see your name, simply write NO on the label.

† PORTALS OF PRAYER  The new Portals of Prayer for the winter are on the table by the nursery in the narthex.

† LWML QUARTERLIES  The new Quarterlies are on the table by the    nursery in the narthex.  Ladies, remember to pick one up!

† POINSETTIAS  There are extra poinsettias from Christmas on the round table in the narthex.  Anyone who would like a poinsettia is welcome to take one.
