{"id":796,"date":"2012-05-20T07:06:56","date_gmt":"2012-05-20T13:06:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/gslc-carthage.dreamhosters.com\/?p=796"},"modified":"2012-05-20T07:06:56","modified_gmt":"2012-05-20T13:06:56","slug":"announcements-may-20-2012","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.gslc-carthage.org\/?p=796","title":{"rendered":"Announcements &#8212; May 20, 2012"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>IN OUR PRAYERS<\/strong>\u00a0 Cheryl C., recovering from spinal surgery; Don H., undergoing treatment for cancer.<\/p>\n<p><strong>ONE SERVICE<\/strong>\u00a0 A reminder that beginning NEXT Sunday, May 27, and for the rest of the summer, our worship schedule changes to one service with communion at 9:30 a.m., followed by Sunday School and Bible Class at 10:45 a.m.<\/p>\n<p><strong>NAME TAG SUNDAY<\/strong>\u00a0 Next Sunday there will be name tags available in the narthex and we as ask that everyone wear one.\u00a0 It\u2019s a great way to help us get to know each other a little better.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>THE JR CONFIRMATION CLASS<\/strong> will have their final confirmation class this Wednesday evening at 6:30 with a review of this year\u2019s lessons.\u00a0 You are welcome to attend.\u00a0 After the review, the class will be fitted for their confirmation robes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>JR CONFIRMATION NEXT SUNDAY<\/strong>\u00a0 Five of our young folks will publicly confess their faith next Sunday during the 9:30 am service.<\/p>\n<p><strong>THE ELDERS<\/strong> will meet this Monday evening at 7:00.<\/p>\n<p><strong>SOFTBALL<\/strong>\u00a0 The co-ed team will play Monday evening at 7:30 pm.\u00a0 The men\u2019s team will play Thursday evening at 7:30.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Give&#8230;because every drop tells a story.\u00a0 THE COMMUNITY BLOOD CENTER BLOODMOBILE<\/strong> is here today from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm.\u00a0 Please give if you can.\u00a0 Be sure you have photo identification with you.\u00a0 Blood donations save lives.<\/p>\n<p><strong>FESTIVAL OF HYMNS<\/strong>\u00a0 A Pipe Organ Dedication Concert will be presented at Faith Lutheran Church, 2134 Grand Ave., Carthage, Sunday, June 3, at 3:00 pm.\u00a0 Organist is Sara Buelow, Faith\u2019s pastor\u2019s wife, along with other guest musicians.\u00a0 Cake and punch reception to follow.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>BLOOD PRESSURE CHECKS<\/strong> are available in the narthex after each service.\u00a0 You will be given a small form that can be carried in your wallet which will include medical information and a log of your blood pressure readings.<\/p>\n<p><strong>PRAYER BEARS<\/strong> are in the sanctuary pews and available to be signed out (notebook in narthex) and given to anyone that needs God\u2019s love, comfort, and peace.\u00a0 We have had reports and words of thanks from folks being blessed by this outreach ministry.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CD\u2019S AND TAPES OF THE SERVICE<\/strong>\u00a0 Audio tapes and CD\u2019s of the service are available after the 8:15 am service each Sunday.\u00a0 They are located in the glassed-door cabinet in the narthex.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>ASSISTIVE LISTENING<\/strong>\u00a0 If you are having a hard time hearing the service, assistive listening devices are available from the ushers.\u00a0 They work like a transistor radio and you can control the volume.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>IN OUR PRAYERS\u00a0 Cheryl C., recovering from spinal surgery; Don H., undergoing treatment for cancer.
