VBS STARTS NEXT SUNDAY: HERO HEADQUARTERS<\/strong> Kids, don\u2019t miss the exciting, challenging, super-fun VBS program starting next Sunday and going through Thursday. \u00a0Each day starts at 5:30 p.m. with a light lunch and ends at 8:00 p.m. \u00a0You will get to know Bible heroes and find out how you can be a hero for God, too. \u00a0Of course, there will also be crafts and games to enjoy. \u00a0Be sure and sign up if you haven\u2019t already. \u00a0See you next Sunday evening at HERO HEADQUARTERS.<\/p>\n

NARTHEX FURNITURE<\/strong> Would you like to help with the purchase of some seating for the narthex? \u00a0Tentative plans are to have a sofa, loveseat, ottoman and side chairs. \u00a0The LWML<\/a> has a committee that is checking to find the best product for the best price. \u00a0If you would like to help with this project, please make note that you want your donation to go towards narthex furniture.<\/p>\n

PERIODICALS AVAILABLE<\/strong> The July\u2014September edition of the Portals of Prayer and the LWML summer issue of the Quarterly are available in the narthex.<\/p>\n

THE BOARD OF ELDERS<\/strong> meet for their monthly meeting Monday evening at 7:00.<\/p>\n

THE JULY VOTERS\u2019 MEETING<\/strong> has been scheduled for Sunday, July 31.<\/p>\n

CONSTITUTION CHANGE<\/strong> The church council has proposed the following changes to our constitution:
\nArticle VI, section C\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0The Church Council shall annually prepare a list of at least six Special Projects, for the convenience of members wishing to make designated contributions and memorials. The list shall be presented to the voters, preferably in the January meeting of the Voters\u2019 Assembly, for their approval. \u00a0Items may be added to or removed from the Special Projects list by the Voters\u2019 Assembly at any regular meeting.
\nArticle VII, section D, 3 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Donors of honorary gifts and undesignated memorials will be encouraged to\tdesignate their contribution to one of the Special Projects (see Article VI, section C),\tto another suitable charitable purpose, or to support the ongoing mission of the church. \u00a0The Financial Secretary shall make a formal record of the memorial or honorary gift, and shall extend all efforts to ascertain the donor\u2019s intentions for allocation. \u00a0If no designation is made within 60 days, the Financial Secretary shall classify the contribution as undesignated and assign it to the general operating funds of the congregation.<\/p>\n

THRIVENT MATCHING FUNDS<\/strong> If you would like to donate money for tornado relief to either Immanuel<\/a> or Peace Lutheran in Joplin, Thrivent will match $1.00 for each $3.00 raised. \u00a0You can give your donation through Good Shepherd, and we will see that it goes where you have designated it.<\/p>\n

ASSISTIVE LISTENING<\/strong> If you are having a hard time hearing the service, assistive listening devices are available from the ushers. \u00a0They work like a transistor radio and you can control the volume.<\/p>\n

TAPES OF THE SERVICE<\/strong> Audio tapes of the service are available after the 8:15 am service each Sunday. \u00a0They are located in the glassed-door cabinet in the narthex. \u00a0Tapes of the previous Sunday are also available.<\/p>\n

PRAYER BEARS<\/strong> are in the sanctuary pews and available to be signed out (notebook in narthex) and given to anyone that needs God\u2019s love, comfort, and peace. \u00a0We have had reports and words of thanks from folks being blessed by this outreach ministry.<\/p>\n

BLOOD PRESSURE CHECKS<\/strong> are available in the narthex after each service. \u00a0You will be given a small form that can be carried in your wallet which will include medical information and a log of your blood pressure readings.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
