REMEMBER IN PRAYER<\/strong> The family of Edna C., who passed away Monday morning; Fern H., Bill S., at McCune Brooks hospital; Paul L., recovering from eye surgery; Dorothy F., in rehab at Springfield; Marilyn N., at home; Kathy P., recovering at home from surgery; Jeanie D., Jean S., undergoing treatment for cancer; Jeanann G., Ann L., Chuck P., Karen P. & Janet S., receiving treatment.<\/p>\n

BAPTISM<\/strong> Samuel Swanand W., son of Don and Joann, will be baptized today during the late service.\u00a0 He was born November 23, 2007.\u00a0 Samuel\u2019s sponsors are David and Kathryn H.\u00a0 We rejoice with the family and ask God to bless them with His love.<\/p>\n

EDNA C.<\/strong> Edna was received into the arms of her Savior on Monday, November 22, 2010, at the age of 93.\u00a0 She was born March 9, 1917, in Ogema, Minnesota, to William and Elizabeth (Bunge) Wildgrube.\u00a0 Edna was united in marriage to Ray C. on December 7, 1944 and moved to Carthage in 1987.\u00a0 Ray preceded her in death in 1993.\u00a0 Edna is the mother of Mary I., George and David C.\u00a0 We thank God for Edna and rejoice in the knowledge she is safe in the arms of Jesus, her Savior and Lord.<\/p>\n

MIDWEEK ADVENT SERVICES<\/strong> This Sunday begins the Advent season of the church year, the time before Christmas when we prepare ourselves for the celebration of the birth of our Savior.\u00a0 Plan to attend the Mid-week Advent services, which begin this Wednesday evening at 7:00.<\/p>\n

SECRET SISTER PROGRAM<\/strong> All ladies of the church are invited to participate in this ministry of caring and sharing with other sisters in Christ.\u00a0 The 2010 Secret Sister Reveal will be next Sunday at the LWML Christmas Holiday Event.\u00a0 We will also be drawing for our 2011 Sisters.\u00a0 If you would like to be a part of this fun and spirit-lifting program, fill out the All About Me form found in the narthex.\u00a0 Bring it with you to the event or give it to Mary Parks in the church office.\u00a0 Be sure to take a copy of the guidelines to help you understand how the program works.<\/p>\n

CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY EVENT<\/strong> The LWML is sponsoring a Christmas Holiday-centered evening for all the ladies of the congregation next Sunday at 6:30 pm.\u00a0 You don\u2019t have to be a member of the LWML or a participant of the Secret Sister program to take part and enjoy an evening of fun with your fellow Christian sisters.\u00a0 If you would like to participate in the fun cookie or tree ornament exchanges, just bring a wrapped Christmas ornament (not to exceed $5.00), and some cookies.\u00a0 If not, that\u2019s fine, too.\u00a0 Just bring your appetite (we will be having dinner), and a smile.\u00a0 You don\u2019t want to miss it!\u00a0 Hostesses for the evening are Janet C. and Mary P.<\/p>\n

SUNDAY SCHOOL CHRISTMAS PROGRAM<\/strong> On Sunday evening Dec. 19, at 7:00, the children will tell the Christmas story in the Christmas Pageant, The Not-So-Silent Night.\u00a0 They have been practicing during the Sunday School hour, and will also practice after the late service on Sundays Dec. 12 and Dec. 19.<\/p>\n

POINSETTIAS<\/strong> If you would like to purchase one or more poinsettias to help decorate the sanctuary for Christmas, there is a sign-up sheet in the narthex.\u00a0 The price for each is $5.00, and as always, you are welcome to take them home after Christmas.\u00a0 Please make payment to Betty K.<\/p>\n

TAPES AND CD\u2019S OF THE SERVICE<\/strong> Audio tapes and CDs of the service are available after the 8:15 am service each Sunday.\u00a0 They are located in the glassed-door cabinet in the narthex.\u00a0 The previous Sunday\u2019s are also available.<\/p>\n
