{"id":329,"date":"2010-05-23T08:33:41","date_gmt":"2010-05-23T14:33:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/gslc-carthage.dreamhosters.com\/?p=329"},"modified":"2026-05-08T09:49:37","modified_gmt":"2026-05-08T15:49:37","slug":"announcements-may-23-2010","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.gslc-carthage.org\/?p=329","title":{"rendered":"Announcements &#8212; May 23, 2010"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>REMEMBER IN PRAYER<\/strong>&nbsp; Fern H. and Karen P., recovering from surgery; Jeanann G., Ann L., &amp; Chuck P., undergoing treatment.<\/p>\n<p><strong>STAINED GLASS WINDOW MISHAP<\/strong>&nbsp; Regrettably, when the stained glass window was here and ready to be installed, it was discovered that it had a crack.&nbsp; So back to the shop it had to go.&nbsp; They will have to take apart certain areas of the window and replace the glass that was cracked, which was the etched piece.&nbsp; Completion time of the repair is not known.<\/p>\n<p><strong>SOFTBALL<\/strong>&nbsp; The co-ed team will play Monday evening at 8:30.&nbsp; The men\u2019s team will have a week off due to the Carthage High School graduation on Tuesday evening.<\/p>\n<p><strong>PLANNING FOR THE FUTURE<\/strong>&nbsp; This afternoon The Rev. Dr. Stuart Brassie, from the MO-District Office of the LCMS, will lead us in a planning session beginning at 1:30 pm.&nbsp; Dr. Brassie will help us focus on what direction we want to go, now that the expansion program is almost over, and how we will do it.&nbsp; The planning session is open to everyone, and together, with our Lord\u2019s guidance, we can look to a future that is focused and God-directed.<\/p>\n<p><strong>JR CONFIRMATION EXAM<\/strong>&nbsp; The confirmands will have their last class this Wednesday evening at 6:30 with a review of this year\u2019s lessons.&nbsp; You are welcome to attend.&nbsp; After the review, the class will be fitted for their confirmation robes.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>WEDDING<\/strong>&nbsp; You are invited to share in the joy with Gretchen&nbsp; N. and Todd B. as they exchange their marriage vows this Saturday, May 29th, at 4:00 pm.&nbsp; Gretchen is the daughter of John &amp; Rhonda N.<\/p>\n<p><strong>JR CONFIRMATION SUNDAY<\/strong> is May 30th, at which time seven of our young folks will make public confession of their faith through the Rite of Confirmation during the late service.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>THE ELDERS<\/strong> will meet this&nbsp; Monday evening at 7:00.<\/p>\n<p><strong>PICTORIAL DIRECTORY SIGN UP<\/strong>&nbsp; Saturday, June 5th, Tuesday, June 8th, and Sunday, June 13th, are the days set for taking pictures for the church directory.&nbsp; Sign up sheets are in the narthex next to the nurse\u2019s office.&nbsp; Please take note of the different times on each sheet. The photos will be taken here at the church by Rick C.<\/p>\n<p><strong>KID KITS<\/strong>&nbsp; In the narthex are a number of bags containing crayons, coloring books, picture books and other items of interest for young children.&nbsp; You are welcome to use them for your little ones.&nbsp; Please return the \u201ckid kit\u201d after the service.<\/p>\n<p><strong>BLOOD PRESSURE<\/strong>&nbsp; The opportunity to have your blood pressure taken and recorded after each service is available in the nurse\u2019s office located off the narthex.&nbsp; You will be given a card to carry with you to record your readings.<\/p>\n<p><strong>TAPES &amp; CDS OF THE SERVICE<\/strong>&nbsp; Audio tapes and CDs of the service are available after the 8:15 am service each Sunday.&nbsp; They are located in the glassed-door cabinet in the narthex.&nbsp; The previous Sunday\u2019s are also available.<\/p>\n<p><strong>ASSISTIVE LISTENING<\/strong>&nbsp; If you are having a hard time hearing the service, assistive listening devices are available from the ushers.&nbsp; They work like a transistor radio and you control the volume.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>REMEMBER IN PRAYER&nbsp; Fern H. and Karen P., recovering from surgery; Jeanann G., Ann L., &amp; Chuck P., undergoing treatment.
