{"id":1709,"date":"2017-02-12T10:36:02","date_gmt":"2017-02-12T16:36:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/gslc-carthage.dreamhosters.com\/?p=1709"},"modified":"2017-02-12T10:36:02","modified_gmt":"2017-02-12T16:36:02","slug":"thank-you","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.gslc-carthage.org\/?p=1709","title":{"rendered":"Thank you"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Since Silas Mehl accepted the call you issued in the name of our Lord, many of you have expressed thanks to me for the job I have done as your intentional interim pastor.\u00a0 Approving and warm words are good ways to express thanks; I thank you for giving me such things.\u00a0 Please indulge me as I suggest additional ways to thank me, and more importantly, to thank God.<\/p>\n<p>To thank God for sending his servants (like me) to this congregation, receive Silas Mehl as his servant.\u00a0 Do not despise his youth, but welcome his energy.\u00a0 Include him and his family into your community of faith.\u00a0 Treat any foibles they might have as features, not bugs.\u00a0 Pray for him and your service to our Savior together in this place.<\/p>\n<p>To thank God for sending his servants (like me) to this congregation, instead of reacting with fear and anger when provoked, take the time and make the effort to respond with gentleness and respect.\u00a0 Give one another and your new pastor the benefit of the doubt.\u00a0 Help him to understand your history and needs and expectations.\u00a0 Instead of resisting change, cultivate spiritual growth that produces the fruits of the Spirit.\u00a0 Look for ways to forgive one another and spread the practice of forgiveness to your community.<\/p>\n<p>To thank God for sending his servants (like me) to this congregation, consider the needs of others as more important than your own.\u00a0 Instead of seeking to dominate others, look for ways to serve others in love.
