{"id":1536,"date":"2016-01-31T10:42:20","date_gmt":"2016-01-31T16:42:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/gslc-carthage.dreamhosters.com\/?p=1536"},"modified":"2016-01-31T10:42:20","modified_gmt":"2016-01-31T16:42:20","slug":"announcements-january-31-2016","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.gslc-carthage.org\/?p=1536","title":{"rendered":"Announcements &#8212; January 31, 2016"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\u2020\u00a0<b>IN OUR PRAYERS<\/b> <b><i>\u00a0Sue V.<\/i><\/b>, suffering mobility issues due to her left foot, so she will be having surgery in February;<b><i> Kathy P.<\/i><\/b>, suffering health issues; <b><i>Jack H.<\/i><\/b>, recovering at home;<b><i> Paula B.<\/i><\/b>, <b><i>April K.<\/i><\/b>, <b><i>Sara P.<\/i><\/b>, <b><i>Sara <\/i><\/b><b><i>T.<\/i><\/b>, undergoing treatment for cancer.<\/p>\n<p>\u2020\u00a0<b>BAPTISM\u00a0 <\/b>We rejoice with Cory and Kayla H. at the baptism of their\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 daughter, Lyssabelle Eve H., during the 10:45 am service this morning.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Lyssabelle was born December 31, 2015.\u00a0 Her Godparents are Carol E. and Trevor T.\u00a0 God be with this family as they grow in His grace and love.<\/p>\n<p>\u2020\u00a0<b>SOUPER BOWL SUNDAY\u00a0 <\/b>Through the month of January we have been collecting canned soup, dried beans and rice to help fill the shelves at <i>Crosslines of Carthage<\/i>.\u00a0 Next Sunday is Souper Bowl Sunday so if you haven&#8217;t had a chance yet, make sure to bring your donations and place them in the round container in the narthex or the shopping cart in the entry downstairs.\u00a0 If you would prefer to give a monetary donation there are envelopes on the round table in the narthex.\u00a0 The envelopes can be returned to Nan Borg or dropped off at the church office.\u00a0 Everyone wins when we team up to help!<\/p>\n<p>\u2020\u00a0<b>DIALOG EVENTS\u00a0 <\/b>Many have participated in events led by Good Shepherd\u2019s IIM Transition team.\u00a0 Participants describe their connection to Good Shepherd and listen to other members doing the same. Hoping to reach as many members as possible, the team has one more scheduled event this month.\u00a0 After the late service today, team members will lead a session in the Sunday school fellowship area just outside the elevator.\u00a0 Your involvement will help your church prepare for new leadership.\u00a0 Please make time to participate.<\/p>\n<p>\u2020\u00a0<b>CHRISTIAN EDUCATION\u00a0 <\/b>With the start of a new year it\u2019s time again to set the calendar of events for Christian Education in 2016.\u00a0 There will be a planning meeting today, after the late service.\u00a0 Anyone currently involved in or interested in getting involved in our Christian Education program is encouraged to attend.\u00a0 There will be a light lunch provided during the meeting.<\/p>\n<p>\u2020\u00a0<b>SPECIAL MUSIC MEETING <\/b>tomorrow evening at 6:15 pm.<\/p>\n<p>\u2020\u00a0<b>SAVE THE DATE\u00a0 <\/b>The Annual Ladies Night Out Dinner is set for Sunday, February 14 at 5:00 pm.\u00a0 Make plans to join us for this fun evening.\u00a0 Please use the sign-up sheet in the narthex, or call the church office, 358-1325, if you plan to attend, so we will know how much food to prepare.\u00a0 For more information be sure to check your February Newsletter!<\/p>\n<p>\u2020\u00a0<b>VALENTINE BAKE SALE\u00a0 <\/b>The LWML will be having a bake sale on Sunday, Feb. 14.\u00a0 Come prepared for some delicious goodies.<\/p>\n<p>\u2020\u00a0<b><a href=\"http:\/\/www.lwml.org\" target=\"_blank\">LWML<\/a> MEETING\u00a0 <\/b>The LWML will have their regular meeting this Tuesday in the Fellowship Hall at 6:30 pm.<\/p>\n<p>\u2020\u00a0<b>LYF ICE SKATING\u00a0 <\/b>Next Sunday the youth we be going to Springfield after the late service for lunch and ice skating.\u00a0 The cost is $7.50 for the skating and lunch will be provided.<\/p>\n<p>\u2020\u00a0<b>OFFERING STATEMENTS\u00a0 <\/b>The 2015 offering statements are on the round table in the narthex.\u00a0 If you need your statement mailed, please contact the church office, 358-1325.<\/p>\n<p>\u2020\u00a0<b>LERT TRAINING\u00a0 <\/b>People with emergency response training can be given access to managed disaster zones to offer assistance.\u00a0 Immanuel Lutheran Church in Joplin will offer Lutheran Early Response Team (LERT) training on Saturday February 27, \u00a02016 from 8 AM to 4 PM.\u00a0 Registration fee is $35 which includes manual, LCMS volunteer vest and lunch.\u00a0 This will include FEMA training and you will\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 receive a FEMA card.\u00a0 For more information contact Kenneth Eby at (417) 529-0143 or <a href=\"mailto:K-eby@att.net\">K-eby@att.net<\/a>.\u00a0 There are forms about the LERT training on the round table in the narthex.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u2020\u00a0IN OUR PRAYERS \u00a0Sue V., suffering mobility issues due to her left foot, so she will be having surgery in February;
