{"id":1485,"date":"2015-10-17T16:34:18","date_gmt":"2015-10-17T22:34:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/gslc-carthage.dreamhosters.com\/?p=1485"},"modified":"2015-10-17T16:34:18","modified_gmt":"2015-10-17T22:34:18","slug":"treasure-in-clay-pots","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.gslc-carthage.org\/?p=1485","title":{"rendered":"Treasure In Clay Pots"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Many consider intentional interim ministry a crackpot profession: You\u2019d have to be crazy or broken in some way to consider it.\u00a0 But there are advantages to being viewed in that way.\u00a0 All pastors are just temps; sooner or later they will be replaced.\u00a0 They are not the Savior but point to him.\u00a0 If the pastor is \u201ca little off\u201d it is easier to\u00a0 remember that.<\/p>\n<p>When writing about the light of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ\u2013\u2013the light which Pastors strive to reflect\u2013\u2013the apostle Paul explained,<br \/>\n\u201cFor God, who said, \u201cLet light shine out of darkness,\u201d has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us.\u201d (2 Corinthians 4:6\u20137 ESV)<\/p>\n<p>When a pastor doesn\u2019t serve you the\u00a0 way you expect, ask yourself, \u201cWhat more can I expect from a cracked pot?\u201d But it is dangerous to disregard his\u00a0message because the container is\u00a0unimpressive, annoying, and\/or ugly (physically, emotionally, spiritually). God offers us the treasures of his grace in Christ in such brittle, easily broken containers. This fall the Sunday morning adult Bible Study is examining issues of church and ministry starting with the understanding that God offers the riches of his grace in Christ in such brittle, easily broken containers. Neither pastor nor lay people are perfect and precious in and of themselves, but God pours his treasures into jars of clay so his grace can overflow into the world.
