(Pastor\u2019s nephew) <\/i><\/b>and <b><i>Sandy O.<\/i><\/b>, recovering from surgery; <b><i>Royce A. (Wynette Q.\u2019s father)<\/i><\/b>,\u00a0<b><i>Paula B.<\/i><\/b>,\u00a0<b><i>Mary C.<\/i><\/b>, and <b><i>Howard S.\u00a0<\/i><\/b>undergoing treatment for cancer.<\/p>\n<p>\u2020\u00a0<b>MARIE <\/b><b>HERZOG\u00a0 <\/b>Our Lord received unto himself Marie Elizabeth Herzog on Friday, September 19, after a long illness.\u00a0 She had been living in the St. Louis area close to her family.\u00a0 Marie had been an active member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.\u00a0 A\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 memorial service will be conducted at 5 pm, Saturday, Sept. 27, at Marks Mortuary in Wood River.\u00a0 Graveside Services have been planned for 11 am, Friday, Nov. 28, 2014, at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Carthage.<\/p>\n<p>\u2020\u00a0<b>HOG ROAST OUTREACH EVENT\u00a0 <\/b>This evening, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm, is our community outreach event and fundraiser.\u00a0 Come,\u00a0 have a great meal and enjoy the various musical groups.\u00a0 We would like to see all of our Good Shepherd folks here tonight at the church to support this wonderful event!<\/p>\n<p>\u2020\u00a0<b><a title=\"Lutheran Women's Missionary League\" href=\"http:\/\/www.lwml.org\" target=\"_blank\">LWML<\/a> \u201cWOMEN TO WOMEN\u201d NIGHT\u00a0 <\/b>ALL ladies of the\u00a0\u00a0 congregation are invited to the annual \u201cWomen to Women\u201d night of fellowship on Tuesday, October 7, at 6:00 pm at El Charro in\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Carthage.\u00a0 The theme this year is Restore-Renew-Refurbish.\u00a0 Ladies are encouraged to bring an item that they have restored, renewed, or refurbished.\u00a0 RSVP to Mary P. or Judy G.<\/p>\n<p>\u2020\u00a0<b>PARENTS, GOOD SHEPHERD NEEDS YOUR CHILDREN!\u00a0 <\/b>Our Sunday School children have been working on three songs to sing at the GSLC Community Hog Roast this evening from 5:30 &#8211; 7:30 pm.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Try and have the kids here by 5:30 pm so they will be ready to go.\u00a0 We\u2019re excited to hear those wonderful young voices praising God!<\/p>\n<p><b>GUYS FALL FISHING RETREAT\u00a0 <\/b>If you are looking for a fun weekend of camping and fishing, then please join us the weekend of Oct. 24 &#8211; 26, for the annual guys fall fishing retreat and campout.\u00a0 The guys will be going to <b><i>Dale &amp; LeeAnn B.<\/i><\/b>\u2019 property, which is located just north of Lockwood.\u00a0 There is a large stocked pond for fishing from the bank.\u00a0 Men and boys of all ages are welcome \u2014 and bring your friends!\u00a0 Contact Dale with any questions.<\/p>\n<p>\u2020\u00a0<b>HOBO<\/b><b> DINNER\u00a0 <\/b>Come join us in celebrating the fall at the annual Hobo Dinner on Sunday, October 19.\u00a0 The fun begins at 5:30 pm.\u00a0 Just bring some a\u2019 yer own pre-cooked stew (canned is okay; yer fav\u2019rit homemade recipe is better), or you can bring some cooked vegetables or meat to toss in.\u00a0 There will be a jack-o-lantern carving contest, so bring along an uncarved pumpkin.\u00a0 There will also be carnival games and treats for the kids and a prize for the best dressed hobo.\u00a0 Watch for a sign-up sheet in the narthex.\u00a0 We will be asking for people to help by bringing desserts, chips, crackers, or dips.\u00a0 Y\u2019all come now, ya hear!?<\/p>\n<p>\u2020\u00a0<b>LUTHERAN YOUTH FELLOWSHIP <\/b>will meet at the church next Sunday evening at 5:00 pm to plan the games for the Hobo\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Dinner and then go to a corn maze.<\/p>\n<p>\u2020\u00a0<b>PORTALS OF PRAYER\u00a0 <\/b>The new Portals of Prayer for the fall are on the table by the nursery in the narthex.<\/p>\n<p>\u2020\u00a0<b>LWML QUARTERLIES <\/b>\u00a0The new Quarterlies are on the table by the nursery in the narthex.\u00a0 Ladies, remember to pick one up!<\/p>\n<p>\u2020\u00a0<b>OVER 60 CENTER MEAL DELIVERY\u00a0 <\/b>Monday, October 13, through Friday, October 17, is Good Shepherd\u2019s week to deliver meals for the Over-60 Center.\u00a0 If you can help with this worthwhile project, please contact Betty Ellefsen, 358-6418.<\/p>\n<p>\u2020\u00a0<b>ASSISTIVE LISTENING\u00a0 <\/b>If you are having a hard time hearing the service, assistive listening devices are available from the ushers.\u00a0 They work like a transistor radio and you can control the volume.<\/p>\n<p>\u2020\u00a0<b>BLOOD PRESSURE CHECKS <\/b>are available in the nurse\u2019s office\u00a0\u00a0 after the service.\u00a0 You will be given a small form that can be carried in your wallet which will include medical information and a log of your blood pressure readings.<\/p>\n<p>\u2020\u00a0<b>PRAYER BEARS <\/b>are in the sanctuary pews and available to be signed out (notebook in narthex by nursery) and given to anyone that needs God\u2019s love, comfort, and peace.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u2020\u00a0IN OUR PRAYERS\u00a0H. family, at the death of Marie H.; \u00a0Mary F., home with her daughter; Kristen D., Todd H.
