LIFE SUNDAY This Sunday is the anniversary date of Roe v Wade which legalized abortion in 1973. Life Sunday emphasizes that our church body continues to support the sanctity of human life and opposes abortion on demand and euthanasia. Life Sunday also reminds us of God’s grace freely given to us in Christ Jesus for all our wrong chooses.
THE 70 & OVER FOLKS who attended the dinner last Sunday want to give the Youth Group and all those who helped with this wonderful evening of food and entertainment a great big THANK YOU. It was great!!!
VOTERS’ MEETING The Voters’ Assembly will meet this evening at 7:00. Along with the regular business of the congregation we will elect our delegate to the Missouri District Convention.
WANTED: USED LAPTOPS The Board of Education is asking for donations of used laptops to be used by the Sunday School. If you have any questions, please visit with Karen P. There will be more information in the February Newsletter about how they will be utilized.
CONTRIBUTION STATEMENTS A few days ago we discovered a glitch in the process of the 2011 offering statements. Sunday, February 13, was not included in the statements we printed. If you have not yet picked up your statement, it will be manually corrected before you receive it. If you have received it and want your statement corrected for income taxes purposes, please see Curt S. for a corrected statement. He will be available after both services the next few weeks. Our apologies for any inconveniences this may have caused you.
SOUPER BOWL SUNDAY We are having a drive to add lots of cans of soup to the pantry at Crosslines. Bring your donations the next couple of weeks and place them in the large round container in the narthex or in the shopping cart in the entryway of the Fellowship Hall. Nan says her goal is to have 300 cans by Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 5. We CAN do it!!!
YOU’RE INVITED The aunts and cousins of Hailey Waggoner invite you to a bridal shower for Hailey on Sunday, Feb. 5, at 2:00 pm, in the fellowship hall here at the church. Her wedding date is March 10. The couple is registered at Target and Walmart.
NOON MIDWEEK LENTEN SERVICES The Board of Elders would like to know if there is an interest in having our midweek Lenten services during the day, possibly at noon, as well as in the evening. We will take a straw poll at each service today of those who might come to a day time service. Lent starts Wednesday, February 22.
FLOWER CHART There are lots of empty spaces on the flower chart, so if you would like to place flowers at the altar for a special occasion or in memory of someone, please sign the chart hanging on the wall next to the water fountain in the hallway. Simply write your name, phone number, and occasion with the pen provided.
CD’S AND TAPES OF THE SERVICE Audio tapes and CD’s of the service are available after the 8:15 am service each Sunday. They are located in the glassed-door cabinet in the narthex.
ASSISTIVE LISTENING If you are having a hard time hearing the service, assistive listening devices are available from the ushers. They work like a transistor radio and you can control the volume.
BLOOD PRESSURE CHECKS are available in the narthex after each service. You will be given a small form that can be carried in your wallet which will include medical information and a log of your blood pressure readings.
