UNITED IN MARRIAGE We congratulate Laura D. and Hans D. who were united in marriage in an afternoon ceremony in Arkansas on Thursday, Nov. 18. Laura is the daughter of Greg & Caryn D.. May the Lord bless Hans & Laura as they begin their new life together as husband and wife.

THANKS TO EVERYONE who donated and participated in the Operation Christmas Child project. A total of 59 shoe boxes were shipped. The additional postal cost was covered by the Women’s Missionary League and the Youth Group.

THANKSGIVING EVE SERVICE On Wednesday evening, Nov. 24, at 7:00, you will have the opportunity to worship and give thanks in a special Thanksgiving Service with Holy Communion. Please make plans to set aside this time to join fellow worshipers in saying, “thank you, Lord”.

THANKSGIVING DAY MEAL Not going out of town for Thanksgiving? Join us for dinner (12:00 noon) Thanksgiving Day in the fellowship hall. Bring a side dish or two, a thankful heart and a hearty appetite. Please feel free to bring along anyone you know who will be spending the day alone.

SECRET SISTER PROGRAM All ladies of the church are invited to participate in this ministry of caring and sharing with other sisters in Christ. The 2010 Secret Sister Reveal will be on Dec. 5, at the LWML Christmas Holiday Event. We will also be drawing for our 2011 Sisters that evening. If you would like to be a part of this fun and spirit-lifting program, fill out the All About Me form found in the narthex. Bring it with you to the event or give it to Mary P. in the church office. Be sure to take a copy of the guidelines to help you understand how the program works.

CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY EVENT The LWML is sponsoring a Christmas Holiday-centered evening for all the ladies of the congregation, Sunday, Dec. 5, at 6:30 pm. You don’t have to be a member of the LWML or a participant of the Secret Sister program to take part and enjoy an evening of fun with your fellow Christian sisters. If you would like to participate in the fun cookie or tree ornament exchanges, just bring a wrapped Christmas ornament (not to exceed $5.00), and some cookies. If not, that’s fine, too. Just bring your appetite (we will be having dinner), and a smile. You don’t want to miss it! Hostesses for the evening are Janet Chambers and Mary Parks.

POINSETTIAS If you would like to purchase one or more poinsettias to help decorate the sanctuary for Christmas, there is a sign-up sheet in the narthex. The price for each is $5.00, and as always, you are welcome to take them home after Christmas. Please make payment to Betty K.

PRAYER BEARS are in the sanctuary pews and available to be signed out (notebook in narthex) and given to anyone that needs God’s love, comfort, and peace. We have reports that they are helping those who have received them.

TAPES AND CD’S OF THE SERVICE Audio tapes and CDs of the service are available after the 8:15 am service each Sunday. They are located in the glassed-door cabinet in the narthex. The previous Sunday’s are also available.

BLOOD PRESSURE The opportunity to have your blood pressure taken and recorded after each service is available in the nurse’s office located off the narthex. You will be given a card to carry with you to record your readings.

ASSISTIVE LISTENING If you are having a hard time hearing the service, assistive listening devices are available from the ushers. They work like a transistor radio and you control the volume.

Classes: The usual policy is that whenever the Carthage Schools close due to bad weather, all classes at the church will also be cancelled.

Church Services: When we’re having extreme bad weather, watch the KOAM-TV scroll cancellation notices on the bottom of your televi-sion screen for possible church service cancellations.

BAPTISM TODAY  We rejoice with Andrew & Susan S. whose son, Matthew Jack S., will be baptized after the late service today.  Matthew was born June 17, 2010 in Brisbane, Australia.  His sponsors are Jennifer P. and Dean B.  Susan is Jennifer’s sister. We pray to the Lord for continued blessings for Matthew and his family.

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD  Today is the last day to turn in your shoe box donation.  If you didn’t choose to fill a shoe box, you can still help by making a donation of $7.00 to cover the shipment cost.  If you would like to make a monetary donation there is a basket on the table in the narthex for this use.  Thank you for helping with this worthwhile project.

THRIVENT FOR HABITAT FOR HUMANITY  On Sunday, Nov. 21, 5:00-6:30 pm, Thrivent is sponsoring a Chili Feed to benefit Habitat for Humanity.  The event will be at Peace Lutheran Church, Joplin.  A free will offering will be taken.

THE OVER-50 GOOD SHEPHERDS will meet this Thursday evening at 6:00.  It’s a great time to enjoy games, food, and friendship.
