IN OUR PRAYERS Dr. David Johns, recovering from a broken hip; Greg G., having surgery on Thursday; Cheryl C., recovering from surgery; Don H., undergoing treatment for cancer; Dalton, Walter R.’s nephew who lost both legs in Afghanistan; Bill, Sonny E.’s brother.

LECTOR Beginning last Sunday one of the appointed Scripture readings is read by someone other than Pastor. This month the Lector will be one of the serving Elders. Other members of the congregation will be asked to read beginning in July.

BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETING The Board will meet today after Sunday School. Interested? Please join in, lunch will be served.

VBS, JULY 29-AUG. 2 It’s time once again to start thinking about VBS! We have a website where you can register your child or yourself (if you want to volunteer). Please check it out and get registered early. We always need volunteers for VBS. If you have never volunteered before, I know you will enjoy it! We will be doing a kickoff party for VBS on July 22 at the Municipal Park with a pool party and kiddieland. You can also check out the volunteer opportunities at the Education Station in the narthex. OVER-50 GOOD SHEPHERDS will meet this Thursday evening at 6:00.

SOFTBALL The co-ed team will play Monday evening at 8:30 and the men’s game will be Thursday at 6:30 pm.

NEXT SUNDAY we will be having an old fashioned “pot luck lunch” after Sunday School to celebrate Father’s Day. The meal will start at noon and we ask you bring a main dish along with a dessert to be shared with everyone. Table setting and drinks will be provided. Door prizes will also be given. Come and eat with us.

CASUAL SUNDAY To go along with the pot luck lunch you are welcome to wear casual clothes to worship next Sunday.

HAITI TRIP Next Sunday, Lora Samuelson will share about her trip to Haiti with us during the Sunday School hour. We hope you will stay to see and hear about the people of Haiti.

THRIVENT CHAPTER The Thrivent Chapter meeting will be held Tuesday at 6:30 pm at Faith Lutheran, Carthage. Everyone is welcome to attend. Contact Daryl Weinkein (499-3119) for more information.

BLOOD PRESSURE CHECKS are available in the narthex after each service. You will be given a small form that can be carried in your wallet which will include medical information and a log of your blood pressure readings.

PRAYER BEARS are in the sanctuary pews and available to be signed out (notebook in narthex) and given to anyone that needs God’s love, comfort, and peace. We have had reports and words of thanks from folks being blessed by this outreach ministry.

CD’S AND TAPES OF THE SERVICE Audio tapes and CD’s of the service are available after the 8:15 am service each Sunday. They are located in the glassed-door cabinet in the narthex.

ASSISTIVE LISTENING If you are having a hard time hearing the service, assistive listening devices are available from the ushers. They work like a transistor radio and you can control the volume.

MISSOURI DISTRICT CONVENTION Pastor and Glenn M., our elected delegate, will be attending the MO District Convention, June 3-5, in Springfield. There will be worship, ministry discussions, resolutions and decisions made for the benefit of missions and ministry throughout our district and even the entire LCMS. Please keep the convention and its delegates in your prayers.

FESTIVAL OF HYMNS A Pipe Organ Dedication Concert will be presented at Faith Lutheran Church, 2134 Grand Ave., Carthage, this afternoon at 3:00 pm. Organist is Sara Buelow, Faith’s pastor’s wife, along with other guest musicians. Cake and punch reception to follow.

LWML CONVENTION Go Fish is the theme for the district convention being held in St. Charles, MO June 8-10. Diana E. and Brenda K. are attending as delegates. Please remember them in your prayers.

BAPTISM TODAY We rejoice with Mike & Maggie C. as their daughter, Elsie Faye, will receive the Rite of Holy Baptism in the service this morning. Elsie was born April 21, 2012, in Springfield, MO. She weighed 9 lbs. and was 20 inches long. Her sponsors are Chris & Dawn Endicott. Maternal grandparents are Fred & Diana Endicott. We ask for God’s continued blessings on Elsie and her family.

JR CONFIRMATION TODAY Five of our young folks will publicly confess their faith today through the Rite of Confirmation and will receive Holy Communion with their families. Our confirmands are:

MEMORIAL DAY On this Memorial Day weekend, we remember with gratitude those men and women that have given the ultimate sacrifice for our country so that we can enjoy the freedoms we have today.

LWML BREAKFAST IN THE PARK The annual LWML Breakfast in the Park will be held at the home of Rhonda N., Saturday, June 2, beginning at 10:00 am. The event will be co-hosted by Karen P. This fun occasion takes the place of our regular monthly meeting for June. Convention Ingathering Reminder: Members, please remember to bring your donations of either first-aid kits or a gift card for our delegates to take to the District LWML Convention in St. Charles. All ladies of the congregation are invited!

ONE SERVICE  A reminder that beginning NEXT Sunday, May 27, and for the rest of the summer, our worship schedule changes to one service with communion at 9:30 a.m., followed by Sunday School and Bible Class at 10:45 a.m.

NAME TAG SUNDAY  Next Sunday there will be name tags available in the narthex and we as ask that everyone wear one.  It’s a great way to help us get to know each other a little better. 

THE JR CONFIRMATION CLASS will have their final confirmation class this Wednesday evening at 6:30 with a review of this year’s lessons.  You are welcome to attend.  After the review, the class will be fitted for their confirmation robes.
